I'm so pleased that this little video helps the memory of the great Kenny Ball to live on. The band continues to play, with Ken's son Keith singing all his dad's hits - and remains a first class jazz band. Bill Bebb
I have only recently come across this whilst hunting for music I like to listen to. To hear Kenny being carried into his funeral to "Midnight in Moscow" reduced me to tears - my Dad (Alan) was the producer of this record (and a few others over the years) - and Kenny had played him our at his funeral back in 1985. I met Kenny once since then - at a "Ball, Barber & Bilk" concert at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon about 10-12 years ago - and when I offered him my hand to shake when I saw him afterwards, he bypassed it and threw his arms around me. It was lovely to see him again after all those years. A lovely man - and a wonderful musician (that concert made me realise how much they all genuinely loved their music). What a wonderful tribute this video is. Thanks Bill

What a wonderful send off for an absolute great! My first ever record given to me by my wonderful brother as a birthday present was "Kenny Ball and the Jazzmen" and I was hooked.
I hired him in 1959 before he shot to fame, for an hour's lunchtime gig at LSE. Pay was £2 per man and free drinks in the pub afterwards! He brought a precision to trad jazz - a great player.
Unfortunately I now live in New Zealand but have met Ken many many times both here and in England. I have almost everything he ever recorded including a rare USA double vinyl LP. RIP Ken. With fond memories.
Ken, and the band, always enjoyed you driving us all over Germany Jockel. It was great that you were at Ken's funeral on the day .... Thank you..... Syd...
THANKYOU FOR JAZZ, desde que escuche medianoche en moscu, en la versiòn jazz kenny ball se hizo mi musico preferido, dios lo tenga en su gloria, su musica fue la inspiración para el rock y sigue siendo linda, gracias ken
Alex G That's an illustration of the unshakeable bond between us Brits and you Yanks. There was and still is great music on both sides of the pond. I have only started being aware of Kenny's music since he passed but now I listen to it most days. Great stuff.
What a send-off! Kenny will be missed, But I'll bet he was loving this !!!xx
I had the great pleasure of seeing Kenny & the jazzmen about 30 years ago.I'm pleased to see the great send off he had.

I remember he and the band playing at my uncle's funeral a year before this. He was very good!
Was that in Cranbrook HR?
Thank you very much Bill for letting us see the funeral video of Ken.
