When I saw all his Pokémon at level 53 I was like “lmao you’ll get rekt”
That's Cynthia for you. Her Garchomp and the rest of her team are absolute monsters.
There's a reason as to why she is a contender for the strongest npc trainer in all of the main series Pokémon games. She's definately the strongest champion, that's for sure.
*a blind playthrough and he’s battling Cynthia for the first time*
Me: Oh... no... please for the love of god please tell me he’s at least over level 60!
Him: *level 50 Pokémon*
Me: *puts my hand over my head and salutes him* ...It’s not your fault... Cynthia is the one trainer that can one shot an unprepared team...
The fact that Cynthia summoned her Garchomp, her ACE as the second Pokémon...
Geez. She didn't like what you did to her Spirotomb. Lmao
She MAD
Because of Giratina lol
Cynthia is one of the hardest final bosses in the series. Her Garchomp, Milotic, and Lucario are some of the most threatening things out there. Congrats on finishing the main game! The post-game is pretty large so whenever you decide to go through it I'll be here to give advice!
Thanks!
p-please dont remind me of the dragon rush menace...
Her Togekiss is honestly way more of a threat than her Lucario. Her Lucario is probably her second or third easiest (after Roserade, and interchangeable with Spiritomb).
OH I MISS THISSS
When you could get annihilated by a main story opponent if you didn't push your Pokémon beyond. The newer games you just stroll through everything casually, it's insulting.
Beating a tough boss is definitely rewarding! Even if it takes more than one try
Ah yes forced grinding how amazing.
@@AlanJia8 it’s not forced grinding, you can grind if you want but all you really need is preparation and skill
I just happened to youtube cynthia to see if I could remember her name correctly, and your truly blind series is a nice surprise. That first attempt is too relatable, she’s a monster and the only champion that ever felt like a true challenge, well done! :D
Hey thanks so much! :D
hgss lance was challenging for me personally.
How did you keep yourself blind from the greatest Pokémon character of all time.
Never played pokemon growing up and deliberately staying away from watching let's plays lol
Cynthia is by far the hardest champion you will find in any Pokémon game.
Your video reminded me my frustration the first time i faced her but the felling you feel after beating her cannot be described.
Togekiss
*appears*
"Oh it looks cute !"
Actually not my dear...
Really enjoyed seeing your reaction to Cynthia as the champion, and i thoroughly enjoyed this series! looking forward to more stuff
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hello fellow Oneshot fan!
@@zelvin5147 hello :)
What if I told you, Cynthias Platinum team is hard nerfed. The level gap in diamond/pearl was almost 10 levels higher, and her team was actually well balanced.
They nerfed her in Platinum, giving many more type weaknesses and reducing her over all Pokemon level.
I would say I'm glad I chose to play Platinum then lol
@@mdotosborne 8 yr old me still has PTSD from hearing her theme. It was still nice to see you struggle, as sadistic as that is. Really enjoyed this!
@@tobidobidu1129 Haha. Glad you enjoyed it!
Huh,I actually think togekiss is better than gastrodon since she already has milotic.A flying gives her more coverage.
The level was definitely a nerf tho.
Yeah they nerfed her levels by 4, nowhere near 10 lmao. Her Garchomp in DP was 66 and in Platinum its 62. Her Spiritomb in DP was level 61 an in Platinum is 58, which is only 3. The only pokemon change they made was from Gastrodon to Togekiss. I would argue Togekiss is harder because Gastrodon is an insta kill with a grass move.
Guys I'm terrified right now
*As you should be*
Fun fact the creator of the games wanted a real tough challange so they asked a group of 100 people who were part of a competive championship to make a final boss themed team and so cynthia was born
Seeing people figure out spiritomb for the first time before fairy is always fun. The confusion is nostalgic.
I just played through platinum recently, and the same thing happened to me. Clean sweep. Except from her roserade cuz I had a mamoswine. But keep in mind this was my second Pokémon game ever after x and y (the easiest in the series as it turns out) so I thought I could just stroll in with even level 47 Pokémon. Twas a nightmare (didn’t do any grinding, just kept on resetting hoping for crits)
This is also my second game after Emerald! Both end games were pretty tough, but this was absolutely a nightmare
I’ve been rewriting Cynthia’s team in her rematch to give even veterans a tough time. Altering abilities, giving competitive items, updating movesets, and so on. She’s a terror. But she’s actually a lot more merciful than she appears. I’m removing that mercy. The altering of abilities is definitely the scariest thing I’m doing.
I’m basically writing a postgame story where Lucas’ dad is found in the fight area with Palmer and he figured out a way to change a Pokémon’s ability. He allows you to do so, as long as there’s no repeat abilities like items. But on the drawback, the moment you use it, all gym leader rematches and survival zone trainers in that bar, along with elite 4 and Cynthia all take advantage of that as well. And I am MEAN with that. We’ll see where that leads.
You dont win. You SURVIVE against her.
Bruhh
the cynthia fight is probably my favorite champion battle in the entire pokémon franchise
How is this guy not blowing up. He is very easy to listen to
Awww thank you!
It's funny to hear you saying "I don't know what type it is" for Spiritomb cause, I don't know if you discovered by now but Spiritomb is a Dark/Ghost pokemon, and till gen 6 her Spiritomb had no weakness (you couldn't hit a super effective) lol
great video btw
Oh that's frustrating lol. Thank you!
@@mdotosborneliterally the only way to hit it with a super effective move was to keep foresight or something similar on a fighting type, like Lucario and using it first turn. That was it.
I wouldn't say you're getting worse at fighting the E4 just because it took you more times to beat them this time. The Platinum E4 is definitely among the strongest in the entire series. Anyway, CONGRATS! Another Pokemon title in your belt! I think playing a side-series game would be an interesting twist, I 100% recommend either Pokemon Ranger 2 or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of the Sky, they're both fantastic games. I see someone suggested Pokemon Gaia which is an interesting choice ahah, it's actually a rom hack i finished relatively recently and it's pretty good. Still, it's kinda early for you to get bored about legit Pokemon games and having to switch to rom hacks lol
As for bonus stuff, you can now use the ship in that snowy city. Plus, there's a whole bunch of legendaries to catch (80% of them require cheats though from what i remember lol)
Ah sweet. I'll head for the ship first then. Thanks!
1:32 You should be. 8 year old me was scared of Cynthia and I still am now
Well that was fun to watch :D
Also I want to say you're mvp for reading comments under a video that was uploaded 2 years ago.
I have notifications sent to my phone! And I love reading comments :)
“I’m terrified right now.” That’s exactly how you should feel. Because the odds are VERY much stacked against you. 😈
Nobody ever expects Spiritomb, because this is literally the first time you ever see it. The requirements for getting one in the game are insane, so the vast majority of players don’t even try. And since you asked, this is a Dark/Ghost Pokémon. Because Fairy-Types won’t exist for two generations, it has NO weaknesses. Pair that with its high bulk, and you’re fighting a solid wall.
Cynthia set the standard for Champion battles, and has kept it ever since. This is especially true in the remakes, where her team is not only back to their original levels (for the FIRST battle), but they’re now built like a *competitive* team, making them all SO much worse!
That said, it’s okay to cry when you finally do triumph against Cynthia’s team. It’s considered one of the greatest victories any Pokémon player can achieve, even after all this time. Be proud. You’ve earned it.
Okay, so here we go. What a ride that was. You've learned a lot in these two LPs and I'd like to see more Pokémon LPs in the future, so you'll learn even more things and get a real feeling for your teams, in-game-environments and descriptions of items, so you'll have even more fun if you've understood all the basics. 👌🏼
Thank you Matt, for taking me to YOUR blind Hoenn- and Sinnoh-Journeys, because I've only seen my own blind journeys before, 17yrs and 13yrs ago. 😊
Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad to hear that! 😊😊
@@mdotosborne I just wonder where the post-game bonus content is. 🤣
@@Gagafreak92 yeah I've been slacking on that. I think I want to start that before my next let's play lol. Hopefully I follow through :X
@@mdotosborne Don't worry, take your time as long as you need to. There are many other things to do in your life, so I'm the very last person who wants to rush you. We all have to be patient.
By the way, I have a suggestion for you. There's a fanmade-animation series, called 'Starter squad' and there are 9 episodes out so far. It's about the journey of the Kanto-starters Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. The episodes come out once a year and with every episode, they get more quality and length. And it's hilarious af, at least to me.

@@Gagafreak92 I think you gave me something new to watch tomorrow!
I like your reaction to discovering Cynthia is the Champion haha
I am playing platinum for the whatever-th time haha and i want to try to make the perfect team for elite4+cynthia and beat her with the lowest level possible team without having any critluck involved. Wish me luck :D (oh yeah and i wont use any items in battle and play on "set" not "switch" ^^ ) i know nobody cares but i still said that and i will write down what i have used by editing or answering to my own comment.
That sounds tough! Good luck!
A critical hit on spiritomb ? My childhood dream
Dude brought a demon to fight Satan
If you thought this Cynthia was hard, Garchomp is level 66 in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl and the elite four are much stronger than these ones. Only thing the main game in platinum ( gym leaders and team Galatic) is harder than Diamond and Pearl
As you had struggles with Mars and Jupiter earlier on the game, they would’ve been a bit easier and Pearl and diamond
1:00 that was the same reaction I had the first time I saw her lmao.
Great channel, +1 sub
^_^
And your lucky because Togekiss becomes a Fairy type in gen 6 and they are immune to Dragon types
I knew you were totally fucked when I saw her Garchoamp out
This reminds me of the last time i played platinum. I had all my pokemon trained to level 60. Cynthias team for the most part went down pretty easy, but then came her garchomp and took down 3 of my pokemon right off the bat. Not one of my remaining 3 pokemon could take more than one earthquake from it so i ended up PP stalling her eartquakes using all my potions and prayed to God for her attacks to not be critical hits. I would be swept if i hadn't used them. That thing was a real pain.
That Garchomp is a pain, man
@@mdotosborne Yes! And i forgot to mention that i had to stall out all her dragon rush PP too. All her attacks hit like a fucking truck
Yeah if you lose you have to do rebattle the Elite Four all over again. I always remember to save before battling the Champion.
In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Cynthia is much tougher.
just except death
Gotta be honest, as soon as i Saw your Pokémon under lv 60 i got utter fear and i was not Even playing the game
That's what a lot of people have been saying lol. Woops
strongest champion ever.
pokemon black and white after?
We'll see!
Ngl. But i had a mental breakdown when u just kept on switching & not switch & healing 😭
My team when I faced Cynthia in Platinum in 2009
Empoleon
Staraptor
Luxray
Abomasnow
Garchomp
Spiritomb
S p i r i t b o m b ?
going to fight cynthia's garchomp unprepared. Don't do it. Bring a pokemon that can outspeed and use an ice or dragon move
please play pokemon gaia its the best rom hack
Great video
Man don't listen to bad comment about your level you only need to learn about your opponent pokemon type you and the move they can do and be effective againt you and you will be good
Anyway keep up and if i my give an game it's pokemon ultra shiny sigma it's a gba pokemon hack on gba and it could be a good let's play with it
+1 sub
I appreciate it! I dont let comments like that get to me. I just have fun playing the game!
Well that's the point of a game after all
Just wondering why u didn’t utilise type advantages...would have made those battles a lot less of a nightmare, even if u couldn’t win
Because I don't know all of them
@@mdotosborne fair enough. Enjoyed watching tho. Brought back lots of memories
@@irissitjiaqian Awesome! Glad to hear!
Ice beam for grachomp.
