ok so when i was trying to make a pair i realized that you need to give a few extra inches around the waist for the elastic to be able to scrunch up the fabric like in typical boxers! definitely make sure to measure the widest part of your hips and maybe add an extra inch to that to use for the waistband so that you can easily slip the shorts on! and of course cut the elastic to your waist size so it hugs nicely or whatever😋

im a complete beginner and i saw this comment and wanted to quickly ask how you add an extra inch to the waist? would you add an inch to the entire side of the fabric? i was hoping to get that scrunched look too but without adding to the hip size. im so sorry if this is a ridiculous question😝

the brand Oddli based in California is what started it, if you ask me. They’ve had them for a while and were the ones earliest on this trend.

I actually like the lower waistband in looking at you wearing the unfinished shorts. I also really like the length you are planning to hem them. Without adding length . That I think that would be the most flattering. You could have also added a contrasting lining to the lengthen the inner waistband…just an idea. Keep up with the good work. I love your videos!

So many great ideas, I love it! I agree about the waistband, it did end up seeming a bit high after I made it so I’ve adjusted that on other pairs

I have many boxer shorts. I use a men's pattern, but remove the fly opening, as men's pants are longer. I am taller than you, so the extra length is greatly appreciated. I made mine from old table cloths and vintage bed sheets to match shirt mocks ups I make. Why throw out mock ups when you can use them for PJs?

I love that you use mock-ups as PJ’s…brilliant! I’m always a fan of using thrifted fabric too

Could the problem be that when creating the pattern you added 1/2" seam allowance but when sewing you used 5/8" seam allowance? I love that your honest when explaining what you didn't like and how you then solved it.

It could be but considering how loose the original shorts were I think I just needed to be more generous when drafting…still love how they turned out though and it was a great way to be honest about sewing mishaps :)

The electric ones are battery powered and I got them from someone who gave me fabric…but there’s many similar electric fabric cutters on Amazon
