  • San Francisco Giants infield coach Kai Correa takes infielder David Villar through a defensive drill to improve his glove position when fielding balls at third base. Throughout the session, Villar focuses on presenting his glove to the play, "missing early," and staying on plane while receiving the ball.

You can stay "on line" on the backhand longer because of your ANATOMY.
The back hand is an EXTENSION movement AWAY from your center of mass/rotation, the forehand is a FLEXION movement TOWARD your center of mass/rotation. In order to stay "on line" with the forehand, you must fight the natural tendency to move across your body - thats why the backhand always looks cleaner.
How can a professional coach not comprehend this?

Congratulations, Kai! You took a top of the league defense and transformed them into the worst fielding team with the most errors. Well done!

In May of 2022, Andrew Baggarly did a piece in The Athletic about these machines. That article details much more information than we can provide here!

Please show me what these coaches are working on with these guys during batting practice. I can understand the rookie mistake by Villar, I can understand Doval being uncomfortable with the pitch clock. This home run or strikeout hitting philosophy is boring and frustrating to watch. I don’t know if it’s the talent level of the players or if it’s the quality of coaching.

The lack of Giants defense this year is not a knock on Kai's coaching ability it's more a knock on the players not practicing what they were taught regularly.

LOL....OK. 117 errors, most in MLB. You are telling me a dood that played ball at Puget Sound can instruct Major League players on how to field? Please. Professional players are not doing what this JUCO player is teaching them....LOL...you are delusional. This kid should be fired faster than Gabe K.

Yes, as we've learned with Kapler's followers, it's not your fault when you stink. But the 107 win season was pure Kapler.

@@Ireland831 To be fair, there is the lady coach that has helped this team, too. Because who better to coach a baseball team than someone who played women's softball for a third tier college team (Sac State) and did Public Relations.

so can i ask how and where these coaches get their techniques and stuff from? just curious no disrespect i wanna know if its from their experience or what? shit i think i could be a coach for SF giants

Most of the coaches are former players in the big leagues or minor leagues. Others were coaches from college teams. Correa was a college coach and he coached with the Guardians organization. He's always been a infield coach and more defensive minded. You have no clue what it's like being a Major League coach.

Farhan has ruined this team. For the first time in my adult life I have decided not to support the Giants in any way whatsoever. No more games or wearing apparel. I don't like the way he decided like he knew better than anyone ever in baseball, and created this joke of a team an org. At every stop, Farhan has disappointed and shown, pretty transparently, that he is unfit for this position. I'll come back when he's gone but not a moment sooner. However, the problem probably begins with nepobaby Greg and his dad. Shite rolls downhill, and it's crappy folks.
