#1 thing I think you should expect and know... it will not be perfect! Do not compare your beard to the pros, because you will go crazy and trim it to death. Let it get through the awkward phase and then worry about clean up trims. Do not just pick at every little thing. Give it a few months and think about the light at the end of the tunnel

@@Beardbrand being a perfectionist I had to learn the hard way. I think having a beard helped me with those perfectionist tendencies. You cannot have your beard looking perfect, but it is still awesome. Thanks for the response Jack!
Dan - that's a great point, you shouldn't compare a new beard, or a beard at some stage to someone who has been growing their beard for years, or has the genetics to quickly grow a "nice" beard - you have to grow your own beard

I love the vid and anything I might add has already been covered by other comments. My only complaint, if you will, is that most of your beard vids seem to be tailored to anything but average joe's. We "lower class" (which doesn't bother me) grow beards too. I love watching Carlos, Beardzinsky, and etc. However, not all of us look like them or even have the budget to (in my case, the inclination to) dress snazzy. While someone will point out that growing beards is the same across the board, which is true, it's often hard to relate. I live in a semi rural and semi urban area. I've seen all kinds of wonderful beards. I've seen a farmer with a majestic beard that would put Gandalf to shame. I'm not asking to change your format, but rather bring in all walks of life. That way your wonderful vids will appeal to a larger group and everyone can relate.

I think social pressure from others to shave it off is definitely one of the hardest things about growing a beard. All the people that were telling me all that aren't saying that anymore though lol

The itchiness will be in the beginning in my mind. Once it grows out, it won't as often. I have never grown a beard since now in my mid 30's. Always went clean cut but now it's growing like crazy. It's an amazing thing and now grown quite fond of my beard. I enjoy weight lifting and think a beard adds on to that masculinity. I think, pretty damn sure I'll never be clean shaven ever again. Great video btw keep on with the inspiration that beards bring.

I know my beard looks bad but I just love having hair in my face because it feels great but the excuse I use is it keeps me warm in winter. So i can imagine all these questions.

I'm just a couple weeks into the Beard Brand channel, but I've watched a ton of videos already while trying to grow out my head hair, and facial hair. I have a next-to-nothing beard, but I'm going to give er an honest go and see how things fill in. (Pretty solid under the neck though, which tells me I'd been shaving up too far and wasting that growth.) I'm strong on the chin growth though, and usually keep it bushy. It'd gotten super uneven on one side, but I was able to save it today, thanks to the clipping with the hair, rather than against the grain. Very excited about losing a minimal amount of growth. Thanks, Beard Brand!

I don’t experience much itchyness thank god lol but everything is definitely useful. I’m on a mission to grow my beard for the longest It can grow at just age 21.

I do have a question or 2... Does using hair dye on your beard destroy it? As a prank mine was dyed black, and now I worry if my beard oil still works, and if all of my beard hairs are going to fall out! I'm at a month now and worry if I need to shave and start over.

When I first grew my beard out at 26, it was super patchy. And thin. Everyone made fun of me and told me to shave. I didnt care. 6 months later it thickened up. Then I was forced to shave. Now im growing it out after a year and its actually growing in fuller than before.
It's funny because my mustache grows in first and is the thickest/straightest hair on my face. Everywhere else is patchy and curly except my mustache.

Carlos, my beard has some characteristics similar to yours. One exception is color, mine is totally white. I have grown beards 5 times in my life. The earliest was when I was 24 yo. I guess I have been fortunate in that I have never experienced the extreme itchiness so many talk about. Currently I am in the 10th month toward a yeard. My beard is 9.25 inches long. My problem is the yellow hue which has developed. I have asked several for suggestions as to how to deal with this. I have even ask here on Beardbrand and have received no response. Your beard looks great. In my youth mine was very dark.

Don't want to do it all the time, but as need to help minimize the yellowing of your beard.

I'd love to buy beardbrand products, but the shipping costs makes it near impossible, about 25 dollars just for that and add to that price of the product. 40 dollars for the stuff may be worth it but beyond my budget, considering I'm just abt to start college.

Actually..!!!!. Because I have let my beard grow 1 year now. It seems I have influence other guys to allow there beard to grow out. There are those who I guess because of tradition some don't want there beard to grow but so long. As for me I will let it to continue to grow. My goal is for it to be 4 or 5 years of growth. If it continues to grow after that. Then that would be great. I like being unique.

I soak my head and beard twice a week with a teaspoon of Epsom salts in a glass of water. About 3 mins and rinse out. No more itch.
