RnK All Day The rock wall is the back drop for the "great lawn". You saw the info. on the theater. The sad part about this is things like the beautiful carousel and other things will all be lost. The very cool thing is that you can capture the essence. You do a great job of capturing the past. These things and places are lost to us, but you make sure there not forgotten. Thank you for the great work!🖒😎

It breaks my heart seeing it like this. I used to work there I ran the magic shop it was the purple building with the bike on the tight rope above. No one ever rode the bike it was just for show. It was truly a beautiful place when it was all lit up and would take you back to the 50’s. Most of the workers were part of a foreigner exchange work program. So many great memories there now just a faded memory like the park itself. Shout out to whoever came into the magic shop!
I absolutely loved the magic shop and everything about this place! Shoot d’ shoot was one of my favorite rides as well as a kid. Definitely a missed opportunity to have this place closed

@Caleb Fouts it wasn’t a top tier coaster by any means but I was shocked that it was demolished due to its high quality. Smoothest wooden coaster I’ve ever ridden. Truly a shame. The entire parks closing is just a tragedy

The complete lack of graffiti and vandalism lends a really surreal atmosphere to this...I love it. You are seriously kicking ass with your camera work, and the music is a great match. The drone shots at the start are so good I almost thought I was looking at a scale model for a moment. Brilliant! 🖤🇨🇦
It's not exactly in an easy to access location of Branson, kind of out of the way. Plus, Branson is in the Bible belt, so it's unlikely to have stuff like that normally.
Tamarra James im a teenage graffiti artist in branson and a big problem here is the city will cover up any graffiti they can find to keep this perfect, crime free facade on the city. almost every tag ive done to all the abandoned buildings and bridges downtown got covered up by the city. so keeping that in mind it's not really worth it for a lot of us artists to get somewhere as difficult as celebration city. there are occasional construction workers and police around it, and the entrances are near currently populated buildings which would make it easy for us to get caught: one of the theaters in the park is still used as a church, making entrance into the park pretty surveyeed. Don't let the city fool you! Branson is full of crime, poverty, and homelessness. The city will do everything they can to trick the public into thinking otherwise, putting the lives and wellbeings of us locals at risk.
dollillaz I grew up in the Branson area. Crazy to think how many people don’t know about the massive drug and homelessness issue.
Watching this video made me feel so many emotions. I remember being a little girl and going to celebration city with my parents before they got divorced. I have so many good memories. Makes me sad.
I grew up near there. I remember it being Mutton Hollow and then Branson USA before the Herschend family (owners of nearby Silver Dollar City) bought the property in the early 2000s. I remember them marketing it as the "night time" theme park. They wanted you to go to Silver Dollar City during the day and Celebration City at Night. I think they closed it during the recession because it wasn't very profitable. They had a cool laser and fireworks show as well as holograms of famous singers like Elvis at their Ignite the Night show. The wooden roller-coaster was also really fun. Think the coaster was demolished in 2015.
I remember Mutton Hollow. I seem to remember it as even more rustic than Silver Dollar City. Were there glass blowers and horse riding?
Yeah the nighttime fireworks were fucking amazing I would go to silver dollar city 1st then the water park across the street from that park there and then finish the night at celebration city man those were great times
That green pond thing used to have remote control boats - also Silver Dollar City bought it, and closed it. I remember running around that carousel, going through the arcade, watching fireworks at the big rock, going on the genie ride, and the bee ride, and the Ferris wheel. Such a good park.
Ha ha In just had a thought ! Turn the place into an old folks village and let all the old folks ride there scooters around the go cart track!! They left the horses and took the cars !! WTF!!! lol lol thanks for the view! those buildings might be just facades but they would male some very interesting apartments and art studios!!

I went there a lot as a child. The area at 4:25, if I can remember correctly, was where they had RC boats you could control and drive in the water. Thank you so much for making this video; this park is a part of my childhood I miss dearly.

Hey you were in my neck of the woods! I cant remember exactly when Celebration City Closed, I had been there and it also used to be called Mutton Hollow. There was a massive roller coaster there before and recently in the past couple years it was taken down.
Raymond Bush wasn't the big one called wild cat? I was never tall enough to ride it before it shut down :/
Abandoned amusement parks are always my favourite!
I’ve been here before when they were opened. It was really fun & completely different from Silver Dollar City. I remember riding the HUGE wooden rollercoaster, Wild Cat, & loving every second of it. Every time we visit Branson we go by Celebration City & I have always wanted to go in & explore the area. It’s nice to see that someone actually went in & filmed it all.
I'm so used to seeing you go into houses that I was waiting to see what's inside each building houses or stores. That Carousel was amazing to see.
The little mountain scenery at about 8:00 was where they had this amazing movie projector that displayed in a huge mist. It was designed by Kodak and was really awesome. We took our kid to Celebration City in the 2000’s and it was nice that it opened up AFTER the Silver Dollar City Park would close, so people had more to do in the evenings. There was one roller coaster that was there that was made entirely of old wood timbers and it shook the hell out of you but was super fun. Rumor from the locals after they shut the park down was that it was because it was taking away money from the other Branson businesses (restaurants, gift shops as well as Silver Dollar City). The key to why we personally loved Celebration City was that it was more of a nighttime park (when we were there). They also had a cool Coney Island board walk feel to some of the shops but they may have remodeled it as it looked different in your vid. We live in Kansas City Missouri area 3 hrs north of Branson MO. Thanks for sharing!
I worked the laser show from 07-08, used to sell the glow sticks and glow "apparel" on the lawn during the shows. It was so much fun. I really hate that song "Celebrate" now, though after hearing it every night 😆 Good times!! Great memories!!

I live in Branson and we went to Celebration City several times a week we had season passes. It was only open from like 1-9pm daily . The area you thought might have been a theater was actually an indoor arcade and gift shop. They had a show over in another building. The cue that you came upon and wasn't sure what was they had a pirate ship ride there. There also use to be another big roller coaster near the bumper cars I was told that they sold it to another theme park. They moved several of the kiddy rides to Silver Dollar City theme park and also the Wild Cat Roller Coaster was a wooden coaster that they tore down about 5 years ago or so. Look it up online they have a video of it coming down-its an amazing video. The laser light and watershow was where the mountain was at in your video and it was amazing to see people would either bring lawn chairs or just sit on the ground to watch the show-they did 2 shows a night. You were correct when you said something about the water boats ...people paid to race them. The go cart track was super fun. They put in a brand new water ride in the back of the park the year before it closed down. The bumper cars were super fun too. They use to also have one of those excelerator rides too and they moved it to Silver Dollar City also. There was an arcade area over on the back side of the park also and it was neat to see all lit up at night. The whole setting was amazing and I sure miss that theme park.
They added the grand expedition to silver Dollar City right around the time they closed celebration city. It will always confuse me why they didn’t just make that section of silver Dollar City into a mini celebration city.
I was born in December of 2002 and I can remember this place pretty well. There was also a ball that spun around and had water going down it and you could move the ball in a direction but it took strength and I believe it’s in silver dollar city now. I believe that rotating ball was at the entrance and exit of the theme parm
I've been there. Here's a memory. My son didn't want to ride the log flume, so he was waiting for us on the splash pad. After the ride he was running twords us and slipped on the wet pavement, falling face first. He had a mouth fell of braces, so he got all cut up. The park was nice enough to let us go back to our motel and come back the next day.
For a long time there was a big wooden roller coaster that you could see from the road. I remember riding it, it was a blast. I guess they took it down.
As for why it's abandoned, here's what think happened. The park is owned by the same people who own Silver Dollar City, which is also in the same tourist area. They can't sell it because it's competition for them, so they're just letting it sit there.

They had a indoor roller coaster, my husband and I loved this place. it was active and alive when we were there.
This video made me feel so nostalgic. I hate that this theme park is no more. Some of my favorite childhood memories with my baby sister happened here! Silver Dollar City was fun (and still is), but this place was a lot more kid-friendly and very special our family.
The light/water show was out of this world! Wildcat was my favorite rollercoaster, and I remember when I was finally tall enough to ride it with my big sister. I went on it 11 times in a row.

I used to go there before it closed. Branson isn’t too far from me and was the fun place to go. That queue that you thought was for the roller coaster was where my fav ride was. It was a small but fun ride. They had a couple small coasters in addition to the big one. I liked to go to celebration city cuz it was small but still fun and was only open at night if I remember. Ignite the Nite was always fun. They would project images on the rock wall and do water stuff and light off fireworks. It was really cool. Wish it hadn’t closed.
This place kind of operated like a fair, you bought tickets to ride the rides etc, and it was more affordable than paying to get into Silver Dollar City. I think it is still owned by the Herschend Family who owns Silver Dollar City.

Edit: This place was originally a sister park to a bigger park called Silver Dollar City and this place was meant for people to take their kids in the evenings while the parents watched shows at Silver Dollar City.
Oh yeah, I have been to SDC when I was a kid. I am back in Kansas City now. I live like 2 miles from Worlds of Fun. I can't imagine doing an explore when that closes down.

I went to Silver Dollar City and wanted to go to this one but everyone was like,the other one is better so we went to Silver Dollar City twice.
In a couple of years you can come tour the shut down Harley Plant! It really sucks seeing them send all its stuff to York PA and overseas/ China
It was not originally owned by silver dollar city. It was originally called Branson USA Theme Park. They then sold it to Silver Dollar City. After they shut it down they refused to sell it to anybody that would reopen as a theme park because it would be competition with their own theme park here. Really makes me mad and every time I go down there I always drive up and look at it. Been there numerous times! I still have some gift shop items from there. And video footage!
Wonder why they didn't sell the Carousel Horses. Those things go for good money. Such a shame they went under. This is a great video. :) Can't wait for the next place. :)

I’m happy they didn’t sell it because I got to see it one last time in this video, I remember being there on the horse next to my sister surrounded by all the strangers around us having a good time. I think one time I was riding it somebody ending up throwing up lmao
@@lucieriley5560 SDC had its own. The one at SDC is the one they have had for years. If you go over the swing bridge you can see the round concrete area where it used to be.

this place was literally so fun when I was a kid. I went here often. there was a rollercoaster called the jackrabbit that was so fun and they had one of those boat rides where it swung you. i remember going into the ice cream shop and man that place looked so cool at night. it was neon signs everywhere. it was so lit up you didn’t even need lampposts. so incredibly sad it’s gone. I spent hours on that go kart track! so sad to hear of it’s close. the main walk was/ is iconic!
I spent many years going here as a kid. The field you showed with the big rock in the background was where they had a water and fireworks show every night. The had a huge wooden roller coaster called the Wild Cat (they tore it down a few years ago), and it was my favorite coaster I had ever been on. It was behind the arcade that you saw. I remember the water ride (we always called it the log ride) was prob one of the biggest hits there. On a hot day that was a great way to cool down. I have so many memories spent here. I could go on and on. Thank you for taking us on a tour and letting me re-live my childhood.
Celebration City was a sister park of Silver Dollar City and was meant to pick up theme wise where Silver Dollar City left off, hence the clothes in the shop, were what employees wore as their uniforms. Some of the rides were relocated to Silver Dollar City when the park was closed. There was a water and fireworks show there. I never went personally but I have family who added this park to their SDC season passes for a time and they went often. Some quick google research tells a lot about this place.

seeing my favorite theme park as a kid like this takes me back. I see Wild Cat, Jack Rabbit, and a few other coasters finally got taken out.
I went to Celebration City dozens of times. I loved it. There is a small disturbed circle area before you go through the admit gates. There was a large stone sphere that floated on a thin layer of water and you could turn the ball with your hands. That feature was moved to Silver Dollar City and it is still there. The nightly show featured a water screen showing various scenes, lights, fire, and great music followed by fireworks. Awesome! I really miss this park.

This was a very clean park to go to. It was well organized and very scenic. The water ride was awesome and they provided an awesome firework show to end your visit with at night.

Hi my name is Ned i used to live in Missouri many years ago and i remember going to this Park. That was the year i went on my first coaster. Plus i got to act in a play as well. I remember when the parked closed for good. I have so many fond memories of this place.

When that park first opened it was much smaller and was named Branson USA Amusement Park. My girls loved going there. It had mini golf, bumper cars, go karts, and typical carnival type rides and games. Silver Dollar city bought it and changed the name to Celebration City and expanded it to include bigger rides, shows, etc.
Been here a couple of times. Loved it. Never knew why they closed it. Liked it better then Silver Dollar City.

I went to this park once, just after it reopened as Celebration City. It was a lot of fun! Not as fun as Silver Dollar City, it's sister, but still great. The admission price was actually a lot lower than Silver Dollar City, so I can see why they went under so quickly. Every time I'm in Branson I see the grounds from Shepherd of the Hills and wonder what it looks like now. Great video!! I don't remember that carousel being so small, but I was like 13 when I rode it. lol
I use to work here as the Philly cheese steak place as well as several other areas in concessions. The area that looked like bumper boats was remote control boats and the area that was supposedly wildcat was another roller coaster. Its crazy still seeing it each time I visit branson. Lot of great memories and friendships were made here.

Thanks for sharing. I had no idea celebration city went out of business. I went there twice with my husband. Once before we got married and once after we got married. I was looking it up because I wanted to take our kids there. It's just surreal seeing it like this. And it makes me feel old, lol. The diner and the light show are what I remember the most. Doing the chicken dance with hundreds of people was my favorite part :)
And the big wooden roller coaster The Wild Cat that you were upset was not there, was actually torn down just a couple years ago, because it was literally falling apart and the city labeled it condemned.

Wow, seeing this place brings back a lot of memories. I went when I was only around 4 or 5, but I vividly remember some aspects of this theme park. I remember visiting the Wildcat coaster and wanting to ride it so badly, but I was simply too short. The park closed before I was tall enough to ride the coaster. I mostly remember the big rock, and how people would lay down towels or blankets and sit down on them to watch the water/light/firework show every night. Really sad that the Herscend family didn't try to revive this park at all, especially with it so intact for the most part.
I heard a bunch of sirens! SWAT shows up tells you: “sorry sir park’s closed, the moose out front should’ve told you.” 🤣

I live about an hour 1/2 from there. We used to go to Branson all the time growing up but usually went to SDC bc it was alot bigger and more to do. If you are ever in the area again you need to check out some of the old abandoned farms and buildings round Springfield. You should check out Pensmore mansion...
Used to go here all the time. so upset when it closed down. they used to have lots of rides. it was the more kid friendly version of silver dollar city and the clothes were probably the workers costumes. live shows all over. theater performances. it was amazing. I really miss that place.

4:27 It's a pool. There was likely a fountain in it at some point as well.
12:40 Skinny Improv, one of the acts on the theater's marque, is a local group; I've seen them before and I believe they still perform in Springfield, Missouri, which is about half an hour north of Branson. Ignite the Night was probably something exclusive to the park; I've never heard of it anyway.
13:40 Wildcat was a wooden coaster, so ten years after the park had closed it may not have been safe to climb even if it were still there. It's a shame because it was a lot of fun to ride.
Thanks for doing this; it's been at least 15 years since I've been to the park (I think I visited in 2003 but could be wrong); it was nice to see how many places I remembered.

We made lots of memories there in 2007 when our kiddos were seven & nine years old. Sad to see the park abandoned & falling down! Glad we've got so many pics to remember the good times we had at Celebration City! I enjoyed your video.

Harold Bell Wright wrote the book The Shepard of the Hills. It became popular around 1912. Inspired tourists to visit - Branson "boomed." One of his sons opened a museum there, showed a movie - biography. Mid to late 80's. Thanks

Cool explore. Loved the carousel I've always wanted a carousel horse for my home but boy are they expensive and now I don't have the room for one. I had one of those black cat clocks, not only did the eyes go back and forth but the tail did too.

I had never heard of that park, not surprising, but was surprising was the carousel. I am pretty old lol and don’t ever remember seeing carousel horses with defined disturbing expressions. Their mouths, their eyes and head positioning communicated sadness, anger and loneliness. I have never had such overwhelming sadness hit me from your videos. It makes no sense to me and I hesitated to even mention it.
GoCart track looked fun! There is a wooden one in Branson that is 2 -3 levels and is the best track I have ever been on.

You ain`t THAT old ;).... You should see the ORIGINAL carved carousel animals from the 20`s-40`s. those were hand carved from Linden wood, and had amazing lifelike expressions. These are modern Fiberglass casts based on the originals, the details aren`t anywhere near as sharp . Cool nonetheless.

Outstanding Explore.....it really does remind me a LOT of the "Ghost Town In the Sky"...it seems such a shame that these things are built and abandoned ...!!! So many artifacts.....so much history...and so little consideration for what is left behind...!!! Thanks for a great explore......

I worked at Celebration City from 2001 till 2008 it's crazy that this place looks like this it used to be crowded with thousands and thousands of people. The blue area that you were asking what it was used to be remote control boats and you drove around I believe you paid $0.50 to play. The 66 building was an arcade 2 restaurant and a gift shop.
The clothes were probably there as a photoshoot shop. We have an amusement park here that has a Western Themed photoshoot shop and they charge you a lot to buy the pictures they took of you.
There were 3 coasters. Jackrabbit, Cyclone and, the Wildcat. 2 go cart tracks. One that anyone could ride and the bigger one that had faster carts. The one with faster carts only people with a driver's license could drive. They also had to sign a waiver. Had a tilt a whirl by the jackrabbit. The Hershends owned it, Silver Dollar City and White Water. People started realizing they could spend 20 bucks for a wristband and have unlimited rides. Which was cheaper than SDC. It started taking business away from the City. So they shut it down. I'd take my wife and kids every other weekend to Celebration City. We were so mad when they shut it down. Haven't been back to SDC or White Water since. The Wildcat was a big wooden coaster and was real smooth. It was our favorite coaster. The Jackrabbit was real jerky but fun. The rock wall area was an open theater. After dark a mist would come up from the water and they would have holograms of the history of rock n roll. When it was over they'd end the night with a giant fireworks display. God, we miss that place. Lots of memories with my kids.
Very cool looking park. The theming and the stores look pretty nice. I do love the go kart track. I am glad to see no vandalism and I hope it stays that way for future explorers. Nice drone shots in the beginning.
I remember going to car shows and auctions there when I was a kid. I specifically remember a giant stone that turned easily on water.

I used to have season passes to Celebration City when I was a kid because it was owned by Silver Dollar City and they offered a package deal. I remember playing the games and eating at those restaurants. I'm sad they didn't have any rides left. They had some awesome rides. That big rock would have a evolution of pop culture video play on it with a simultaneos laser light and firework show. It was intense lol. That line queue you went to was actually for a smaller roller coaster. The Skinny Improv actually used to be an improv group in Springfield, MO where I live, about 40 minutes north of Branson. That big building where you thought they did dinner shows wsa actually more like a food court/gift shop. There were a couple places to grab food inside and then a place to shop for souvineirs.
Honestly I'm glad most of the rides were gone, I'd rather them be sold off and possibly be used again in other theme parks than if they were left then they would probably get trashed and left to rust. Don't get me wrong I love seeing theme parks abandoned and overgrown but I would want the rides to have a chance and not be put to waste when they could be used for other purposes than being left to rot.
Celebration City is still owned by Herschend Family Entertainment, who also own Silver Dollar City. The pool area that you were asking about was a small log flume type ride, each log vessel held 2 people each. When Silver Dollar City holds their annual yard sale of costumes, decor, etc., It is held at Celebration City.
SDC has an annual sale? How does a person get more info on that?
This place looked fun to visit back when it was up and running with guests going around the park. Id love to go driving on tht go kart track in a go kart. I love go karting, but its a shame to see tht tht one isnt being put to use anymore.
Fun memories of taking my 9 year old daughter on the Wildcat over and over again. She loved it! I remember a flying ship type ride that was pretty cool also. I think there was also a mini golf course. Was not a big park, but kind of a unique feel and very enjoyable.
I remember going here! All the people that work here was from other countries. They hardly spoke English. I wonder what happened to all of them. There was a big pink house that we had all our church meetings at. This place brings back so many memories. It was so fun!
Don't know a lot of background on Celebration City but I had a good time there! The place you mentioned that looked like a rock wall did in fact have a water show-lights etc. After the show, guests would get closer & were able to dance with the crew. They played 50's music. It was fun! In the arcade there was a claw machine that a person could stand up in & the prizes were HUGE! It cost $5 (I think) for a try. Watched my brother in law and another guy play until they won. I also know that 2 yrs ago a church used 1 of the theatres as their place of worship. Just so you know some of the rides were moved to Silver Dollar City & used to open a more kid friendly (ride wise) section. The roller coater was great especially at night. As others have said it was torn down because of dis-use & for liability reasons. Love you videos...thanks! Should also add..they had the best candy store! A lot of penny candy!

Oh and right there where you mentioned the water show or fireworks show by the rock pit, they use to put off a huge firework show at closing every night. It was awesome and you could see and hear it anywhere in Branson, so it was like Fourth of July everyday lol.
I remember when this place first opened up, it was called Branson U.S.A. before it closed down and then reopened as Silver Dollar City's sister park that only opened after SDC closed down all their rides. It was a great and fun place with a different kind of aesthetic. With so many thing removed from the property, I don't even recognize it anymore.
Was watching other videos on abandoned theme parks. Decided to see if Missouri had any since I do live in Missouri. So I checked out google and found your video for Celebration City which I've never been. But glad to have found your video and was able to see one. Thanks for sharing! (Watching this video in 2021)

Nice to see it in good shape and not vandalized.
That giant rock is where they used to host fireworks every night before the park closed. I remember going there quite a few times. Fun memories

I used to work there. I worked at Kick's BBQ restaurant. They would do a water show with famous people on the rock wall at the end of the night. Played music from the 50's.
