side lock do not remove the breech plug. it is pretty much impossible to do that and is not recommended. there is no reason to remove it. all cleaning is from muzzle.
Traditions PA-Pellet Flintlock owners manual, page 6: “Remove the breech plug” and “Recommendations for removing a stuck breech plug.” It says to remove the touch hole liner, very hot soapy water for 1/2 hour, and pray.
well that is true, but most people do not clean these enough and do tighten them down way too much. heat gun will remove them. i would go to heat gun way before the vice grips!
