Hey, How do I get to the needle bearing to replace it? Do I need to unscrew the Differential Carrier Adjuster behind the plate? Please advise! Thanks for the VIDEO!! I`ll answer my own question after hours of searching through many forums....NO! DON'T UNSCREW THE ADJUSTER...Use a pilot bearing puller to remove the HK4012 National Bearing. The Flat face of the bearing with the part number Faces Out upon installation! Use Permatex 51531 Anaerobic Flange Sealant on the back of the Carrier Cover GM 12471587.....I hope this helps. Peace
How did you get the passenger side one out of the housing? doing this right now. I have the entire diff / axel out, a lot easier to work on and clean, but I also have the entire fron end apart, rad, ac, etc out.
Passenger side was removed with the seal removal tool, the one with the two different sized hooks on it. You have to be careful so you don't score the inner wall of the diff.
i had a hard time with mine.. i tried all this and got nowhere...i had to take a mini hacksaw and make a few cuts to relieve the tension and then it came out easy....just be CAREFUL not to cut into the plate..
Thanks a LOT!!! Well done!
That's the first time I've seen an axle seal of that style, interesting. Thanks for sharing!
The GM S-series trucks had them as well.

Does this apply to 2000 Chevy Astro as well?
