- I've reorganised how I store my extra drills left over from finished projects. Join me while I show you how I've done it. I love this way of storing them as it's compact and cost effective.
Supplies are all linked here: 4kidsat147.com...
Thank you for sharing. After watching a lot of videos and seeing the drawbacks to the more expensive storage, I have decided this is my route. Its cost effective and cheaper to expand. Seems this would take the least amount of space. I also would like to spend more on diamond Painting kits or crochet yarn. Crochet is my other hobby I love to do.
A great, inexpensive, space saving method for extra drills. I just started diamond painting and was debating on keeping extra drills due to space/cost. Some methods people have are elaborate or cost tons, I would rather spend that cash on diamond paintings. Thank you for the measurements and the idea 🙂
I'm glad I could help. This is very cost effective and doesn't take too much space at all, plus you have the spares should you ever need them.
Thanks for the great idea! I have only done two paintings but I ordered seven more. I have put all my drills in the 2 ×3 baggies and cut large index cards in thirds to place as dividers. I have them in a single utensil tray. I was so glad to see this video. I love the picture box idea. I have them and also have foam board. I was halfway there and with your idea I can finish my organizing.
Awesome, I love a good organising project!
I've only been diamond painting for a few months and I've just been storing them in bags just like yours but not with the card in between so I'll be getting at least one of those boxes and making the adjustments. Thank you for showing us your system it's just the job for me. 👏🏻
Thanks, it's such an easy system to set up and it helps it looks so pretty. it's like the boxes were made for them.
Thank you, thank you! I am brand new to diamond painting, and after watching this video, and another where you combined your em with other drills for more space, I ordered two photo boxes, bags, and stickers to start setting up my own storage system. I will be using the backs of old but unused business cards from a business I know longer have. Waste not want not. So pleased to be starting new craft with storage organized! Love to listen to you, and also found your haves vs. wants video helpful!
You are so welcome! I'm so glad I could help. Welcome to the craft. :)
Thanks for sharing this setup. I have set mine up the same. I am amazed how seldom you have run out of a color! I only just started diamond painting in November and have already had like 4 kits run out of a color. Diamond art club, dreamer designs, and a few partials.
I love your extra drill storage method. I am going to store my drills this way too. Thanks for giving us the measurements for the dividers and cards. I think I might be able to cut and pup the DMC #s on the cards by using my Cricut Joy.
I love this set up. Now that I have the dimensions, I might make a start on making my spare storage. Many thanks and blessings to you.
I was looking for a storage system myself that wasn't expensive and then you come out with this video. Thank you very much for making this video and showing us your storage system. This is what I'm gonna do myself as well I think. I started DP recently so not much storage for now but I'd like to have a system anyway. Again thank you for sharing your system in this video with us.
Thank you for your lovely comment. This is a great inexpensive way to store your spares and it helps that it looks pretty too.
That is a fantastic storage idea! You can store a LOT of drills but the boxes take up a LOT less space than all the little plastic containers. Thank you for sharing.
Totally!
Love this and thank you for the measurements as well!
I have tried a couple different ways for storage including the three ring binder and I have to say your idea in this video is the best I have seen. Thank you for sharing!!!❤️
Thank you. I used the 3 ring binder too, but it didn't work for the amount of 310 I have, this will fit any quantities.
What a great idea! If you get a new color, just pop it in. The baseball card binder sleeves didn't make sense to me because you would have to constantly rearrange colors in order to put a new color in. This is doable for me and not much of an investment dollar wise. I'd love to buy the plastic trays with little boxes but SO expensive! You do really nice work. So neat and perfectly perfect. Thanks for this great video. I'm definitely doing this.
Thank you for your lovely comment. I did the binder sleeves first and labelled for every colour even if I didn't have it; however, some colours I just had too many to fit. This works so much better as it adjusts and its compact.
Thank you for this. I did it this afternoon. Feel so much better being organized.
Yeah. It’s so satisfying
Hey I love watching your videos :) I have just ordered the photo boxes online and all the little bits to organise my extra drills. I'm like you I like everything to be organised and look pretty, haha. Can't wait for it all to arrive now. Hope you're well Rebecca :)
Pretty is good. Organised is great. Have fun when it all arrives.
OMG I love this!!!! Currently, I am storing all my square leftover drills in the Elizabeth Ward trays and all my rounds in binders like you did before. But I LOVE this method. I ordered all the supplies to make 2 for round, 2 for squares, and a couple for AB and special drills. I also ordered some labels from your website. Can’t wait to get everything!!! I know I’ll have a lot of cutting of card stock to do but that’s OK. I love projects like this!! When I have everything done, is it OK to show this on my channel? I would, of course, give you credit and link your channel in the description of my video.
By all means, as long as the credit is given for the idea, I'm happy for you to show yours. We're all in this together after all. :)
@@addmorezest thank you so much!! I’m so excited. I’m an organizational nut. So this is right up my alley. Lol.
thank you for sharing. i'm using a bigger box same size as both of your boxes combined and have little boxes inside as dividers which takes up so much space. Foam board is the answer!!! Thank you!
Sounds great!
I am so stealing this idea , great tip. Blank canvas idea is great for spare drills.
Steal away - that's why I post it to share ideas that work. I'll be starting my blank canvas project soon so videos will be coming up of that too.
I am going to use your method. I just found Diamond painting. I am 1/3 finished my first Nativity painting.😊. Thank you so much.
So happy that it helps you!
Hi Rebecca,
l am Mary Ann in Arizona U S A. Love you video on storage system appreciate your time showing the way you organize your drills etc. love your coverage of my new hobby💎
Hi Mary Ann, thank you for your kind words. I was so excited to show you all my new way of storing my spares as it works so well.
I love this idea. I currently use those same boxes for my DMC floss in for my cross stitch
Love this system. Just changing mine to this. Thankyou rebecca xx
So glad I found this. This is exactly what I had in mind and I'm glad to see how it will turn out and to be aware of some extra supplies I should get when I go out to buy it all to set it up. 😁
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this! I was running my self insane looking for something that works! Going to give this a try. ❤️
You're so welcome!
I love this video and love seeing how well you're organized! I'll have to take some time to do it too
Bit by bit spread out over days/weeks (if need be) is a good way to keep the enjoyment.
Very nice storage system - not too bulky! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, I love the small amount of space it takes as I don't have much.
I really like this system. Thank You! I have a question, how big is the photo box in inches? I don’t want to get the wrong size. Thank You! ❤️❤️
I've got it in cm from the site I got them from: 28.8cm x 19.7cm x 11.5cm
@@addmorezest Thank you so much! 💕
I have purchased two photo boxes from Hobbycraft as well as the foam card in order to replicate what you have done.
Thank you for this great idea!!!! I love your videos!!!
Hi, great idea! What are the measurements of the photo box? Thank you so much 😊
Hi Alma, according to the site I got them from they are: 28.4cm x 19.7cm x 11.5cm
Yesterday i was trying to tame my drills..this am..bam..your video in my feed!! Smart and cheap.
I'm so happy it helped, it's a great solution too. I've looked into the dearer ones but I just don't have the space.
My second diamond paiting came with less 310 (black's) that i needed to complete the paiting and i was about to cry because i literally needed 20 more to complete the whole thing, when i remembered that i had kept the spares of my first diamond paiting and i was saved 😂 i didnt know what to do with the diamonds but i thought throwing them away would be really sad, im so happy i kept them.
And that is the very reason I have two boxes full. I can imagine the disappointment if you didn't have them available.
Love love this system
I am going to use your ideas. Thank you for the video.
Thank you, it's working so well each time I just pop more drills in too. I've not run out of space yet, so that's good.
That A3 Presentation display book will if you cut all 4 side off diamond painting pic will go in that book ?
I put my 30x40 paintings in my A3 display book.
So they go that book ?
Have get one
This will help me!!!. I can only imagine what my husband would think if I wanted to keep with my storage containers for every color that I am using now. I have found what works for each Diamond painting does not work for storage of extra drills.
Thats so true, I did think about using the 28 containers for my spares but with some colours it would fill too many containers so I had to dismiss that idea. I'm so happy I could help.
Thank you so much. This was great including the measurements! 😊
So very helpful.. I am in the process of duplicating your storage system..Thank you for explaining!!!💜💎💜
You are so welcome!
Hi Rebecca, I am a beginner and I am looking forward to do my new hobby.
With the spare drills can it be used in another painting of another company ?
I have been watching all your tutorial and they are very helpful, thank you . Elizabeth
hi Mary, many times I do use spare drills with a painting from a different company. The DMC numbers tend to be used across many, though sometimes the dye lots can be a little off, so I save them all and chose the closest if I need to use them. Black or 310 always looks the same though.
Hi Rebecca Thank you for replying to my question so prompt. I am looking
Forward to doing my painting . Xx Elizabeth
Hi! Can you tell me what size box to use? I can't seem to find it! I love this idea!!!
The link to the photo boxes are here: 4kidsat147.com/favourites/sparestorage The site has the measurements too.
What did you use to cut your foam board and your white cardstock paper to get it so straight?
For the foam board I used a ruler and a Stanley knife, for the card I used a Fiskars paper trimmer.
Hi, thanks for this video! Can you tell me the dimensions of the dividers you are using and what material have you used? Thank you!
Hi Marianne, I give all the dimensions in the video and I used foam board from HobbyCraft.
@@addmorezest can someone please help me I amztying togrz 6 bags of square drills #3325. I have been dealing with healfun and cannot get into thrift portal and none will call me and deal with this I need help but it is not happening please someone help!they day there is ticket for my order but I cannot work with their site OT chat what can I Co? I think this company is scum! Anybody able to help me Sheryl my phone # 2178713927
Wonderful idea thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Thank you. I'm really happy with how it's working out.
I wish i had done this sooner. I can start savung drills instead of just shoving them in a Ziploc baggie. (I noe totally regret doing that) on another note thank you so much for this video.
I usedto put all drills in a baggie.i just ordered the stickers and cards from here
Great storage ideas. Just wondering how you know which drills go with which project in case they fall off and you need to replace? Also do you keep the key chart?
I've not kept a track of what project they came from though I thought about it, I've not lost any diamonds of a project yet but I think I might have to prepare just incase.
Hi thank you for this. I’ve tried to do it in boxes I’ve got but they keep going underneath other ones and they look igigltypigilty. Yours look so neat and I can’t understand what I’m doing wrong. Do you think I could have too many drills in one bag? I did make my own cards too but I’m waiting for some blank ones to come. Hope you can help me lol well done on your idea though
I do try and make sure they're all 'standing' up, if they are too full, or too empty they can slouch.
What card or what you had on left on video that you had your hand went looking at the video? That liner cardstock and you use for the divine between each diamond bag?
It's all linked on my website. :)
I've done about 40 paintings so far and you can imagine how many extra drills I have left over. I've created a storage system as well but what I am looking for is some idea what to do with all those extra "diamonds" There are lots and lots of videos on storage solutions but what is everyone going to do with them?
I've got something going on in my brain about what to do with them, I need to work out the costing for it to determine if it's going to be worth it. But I'm looking at some sort of cross-stitch pattern and a blank canvas...then doing it over time.
I wanted to ask the same thing!! What to do with them, why keep them?
I keep them incase any painting I'm working on is short of any diamonds. I am also planning to maybe get a blank canvas and follow a cross stitch design using the spares - rather than have many sat there doing nothing.
The numbers on my diamond art paintings do not coincide with the numbers on ddmc is there another list of numbers for all these other Diamond art paintings I would like to combine all mine like you do but I can't seem to find duplicate numbers
Which company are the paintings from? I believe diamond dots have their own number system, but I think they will provide a conversion to DMC if asked.
Can you recommend a try that has higher sides? When I shake they tend to pop out. Which can be very frustrating. Please let me know. I appreciate it.
I use big trays that have higher size than the standard ones that come with kits.
This may be a stupid question but how did you cut your foam board so perfect?
I used a metal ruler and a craft knife, it's really easy to cut through.
Did it come with the divider or did you make it and can you explain how?
The foam dividers I made. I’ve got another video coming up tomorrow (I think) that I make one up on camera. 💕
4kidsat147 - Diamond Painting & Scrapbooking thank you! I just ordered 3 boxes from the link you shared!!
Where do you get that size baggie I have tried every store and online and cannot find one they're all much larger and don't fit into your three divided compartments
Hi Kathy, I have links to the baggies here: addmorezest.com/favourites/sparestorage
I've done three kits, two from the same seller. None of the colours were the same so keeping the spare drills take up a lot of space so don't know if I should just throw them
Hi Sue, that's an individual choice. I like to keep mine incase any are missing diamonds in the future, but I put them in the same bag by DMC number. Is the number that you're using the DMC number or the 1,2,3 etc number the seller uses?
Do you recall what pound the card stock paper you used for the Index dividers? So many options at the craft or office supply store and they aren’t always open to feel them.
It's about 300gsm I think, (sorry UK weight), It was originally used for making wedding cards so quite thick.
Is this an easy way to store all the drills from past diamond painting projects I just don't have a lot of room to store a lot of stuff
I love this way of storing them. It’s compact and organised. 💕
How often do they not give a color you need? and do you ever contact them about sending the missing drills. Is it not being patient, not wanting to wait for the drills to come or will they not send them? Just wondering if I really need to save the drills.
I've only ran out of a colour of drills once and as it was only a few I didn't contact the seller. I keep them partly for peace of mind knowing if I'm short I can finish a project. Also I'm about to start doing a cross stitch pattern on a blank canvas so I can use the spares too.
@@addmorezest Thank you for telling me why you save them. I will save mine now.
Did the cards come in the boxes to organize the drills or do u purchase those and make them and what is the paper called
I made them. I’ve got videos on it here: 4kidsat147.com/diamondpainting/sparestorage
Also there is a link on that page to all the products used and available in my shop. 💕
How do you make those deviders from foam board to stay up, looks like you slide this in?
The cardstock used to divide my spares up seems to help the foam board stay in place. I also ensure that I make it as long as I can to allow it to grip a little onto the edges of the box.
Hi Rebecca sill question is the foam all the same thickness
As far as I'm aware all sellers sell the same thickness. It's about 5mm thick I think
@@addmorezest sorry just me again what is the size of your photo box please this is a great idea
Hi Vicky, they're: 28.8cm x 19.7cm x 11.5cm. I hope that helps.
Rhinestones usually have numbers but they are also called flat backs so check your craft stores.
On foam board which do you use A1 ,A2 , A3 , A4 of them in photo box i get marble
The foam board i at was 3/16 in (4.8 mm) thick is ok or what?
I used A4, and it took one sheet per box.
Sorry i ask alot questions about this thing
The linen card stock divider 46 sheets of A4 card stock how you get ,i was 4 to 5 package of then ?
@@paulineearhart3129 I got a pick and mix box. Or you can buy them pre-cut in my shop.
What size box do you use? They had different sizes on the link??
I used the ones that are named a photo box, so 28.4cm x 19.7cm x 11.5cm
what kind label maker u use to mark colors? and what is a craft knife? an exacto?
I use stickers and write on them for the colours. I did use a Dymo label writer for some, but it worked out too expensive for labels so went to stickers. A craft knife is an exacto.
@@addmorezest we all Love your system‼️i heard your daughter /group has a printout of all dmc numbers she sends to followers if requested? may she send one to me? i can then make my stickers to put on cards
Me again silly question but where did you get that ruler from please. That’s ideal. Still bagging mine up lol
I got the ruler from Amazon, search for T Square ruler and you should find one.
@@addmorezest thank you I’ll go look. I’ve emptied some of the drills out now and they seem to be standing up better. Thanks again
I received a painting where the drills didn’t have the DMC codes. How do I figure out the right codes? Just guess?
You can get charts of all DMC colours for you to be able to match them, but I don't often want to spend the time, so I quite often don't keep those diamonds.
What do you recommend is the best way to cut foam board? I tried with just scissors and it just came out terrible looking lol.
I used a craft knife. Just a cheap one, made longer so it could cut all the way through.
U have product descriptions for everything except the separator cards. Did u just use index cards??
HI Monica, the separator cards was just yardstick I had already that I cut to size, so I didn't have a link. Index cards could work, any card you have will. :)
@@addmorezest hi thank you!!! I absolutely love ur videos!!! I was thinking of getting blank business cards with the same measurements...
The white lines card stock how big you made them put in your storage bags?
All the sizes are on my website.
Ya what size you made them put in tje bag to made them stay up ?
That is also on my website. All sizes are.
No i what you put in your diamond bag made stay up and size of them ?
Yes, the inserts for the bags are also on the website. Along with the measurements. 4kidsat147.com/diamondpainting/sparestorage
Hi thanks for sharing this video, i am definitely stealing this idea lol. I was just wondering what size foam board you used. Was it A2, and how many did you use? Tia x
Hi Julie, I used A4 foam board as I got a pack and only used 2 sheets (if my memory serves me correctly)
@@addmorezest ok thank you
How long before you had to start a second box? I still newbie
I only set up this system after I'd been diamond painting a while so I started with a box and a half and spread from there. A lot depends on how many diamonds you have left over from each project you do.
@@addmorezest thanks!!
Did you store all drills together or seperatly ( acrylic and resin ) ???
I'm so sorry for my bad englisch
I store them all together. I find when I use them up, the bad drills get better when mixed in with good ones.
@@addmorezest jeah....that make sense🤔👍🏻
How many bags of drills would you say a box holds.
I've recently split mine into 2 boxes for rounds and 2 for squares. How many really depends on how full the bags are.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video. I knew the baseball card way of saving extra drills wouldn't work for me. This is great. :)
I'm so glad I could help. This way has been working amazingly for me and I can't think of a better way.
How do you know the numbers of each colour when labelling. Did you buy a colour chart?
I use the numbers that come on the canvas..... if they don't come with numbers, they're in a big box at the moment.
That a2 or a3 how big or them you 40x30 diamond painting pic go in them how big Pockets ?
It's A3.
Ya what size are them ?
What kind of paper did u use to put in the storage box
I’ve got all measurements and then a link to the items used here: addmorezest.com/diamondpainting/sparestorage
what size is the dividers that are between bags
I can't remember off the top of my head but I do share them all in the video. :)
What font and font size do you use so I know when using the blank ones
Sorry the font and size for which labels?
The dmc card numbers dividers
@@harrypotterfan1623 The font is Calibri at size 14. I hope that helps.
What size clear bags did you buy? didn't catch it in the video if it was mentioned
Sorry that was my bad, I mention it in a future video but not this one. They are 2.25" x 3" - I'll update my description too.
I love this idea.
love this, you did an awesome job, going to try this for myself, x
Thank you. I really love this way of storing my spares. I've found my 'happy storage solution'
How in is that Baggies insert? And size bag you 2x3 or 2.25 x3 ?
I use the 2x3 now.
One i had was 3" wide by over 4 1/2 high of baggies
I think about new one 2×3 one
Is over 4 1/2 to high for there box ?
Where can I get them white separaters from please x
I got my foam board from HobbyCraft and the Range (I've used it a few times)
@@addmorezest thank you I’ll look and hopefully get some 😄😄
what kind of cardboard u use to divide bags. card stock tooo thin
I used thick card used in card making.
The card you holding on left of your video you what name of that card ?
Everything is linked here: 4kidsat147.com/favourites/sparestorage
I find at
Hi, can you tell me where you got the card dividers? I got everything hoping the index would work but it's to thin and big
The middle bit (2 long sections) is foam board. The bits that have the numbers on them is thick card I had in the house, but I used it for making wedding cards if that helps.
some of mine dont have the dmc coding. so what would you suggest
I have a couple of videos on what I do when they don't have DMC numbers here: addmorezest.com/diamondpainting/dmc
I set mine up by, I thought, following yours; but I got the wrong size bags. Oh, well, still works.
If it works, it works. That's the main thing. :)

What a awesome idea thank you!
Glad you like it!
Thank heavens for this tutorial and the measurements. XOXO
I'm glad I could help.
Nice system. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you. It's working really well for me, looks nice, is neat and has room to grow.
I am using your storage system now. Thank you. 🌻👍😀🏅☕️🌟🎉💛
Can you use foam sheets instead of foam board
Foam sheets probably wouldn't stand up as well. They're quite flexible.
What size are the bags you used?
They're Grip Seal Bags - 2.25" x 3"
What size diamond painting bag you use useing?
They're all linked here: addmorezest.com/favourites/sparestorage
