    OMG, I have to thank you for making so many videos. I am a fortunate LEFTY that bought version 3, blue handle. I am sure I have had it for at least 4 years now, never changed the blade, still cuts through Jeans, 1 leg at a time. I do a lot of alterations and it has cut through dozens of jeans hems. Admittedly, I don't do hardly any patchwork anymore, that is going to change tho, but jeans on the seams are like 6 layers of fabric,still works perfectly, and I am just cleaning my blade today, should be sharper now, but this is such a WONDERFUL video, all of yours are, But I WANT TO THANK YOU AGAIN. I love Martelli because of you and now, yes been living under a rock, I see they have a purple mat, is there any other colour in the world, NO, I have to have everything PURPLE. Please keep making great videos and Winner Products. :)

    Thank you for making & keeping this video available!! When cutting, my cutter would skip & not cut a "clean line", so I thought it was dull blades & kept replacing them. No wonder why it skipped, mine was so gunked up, kept getting stuck with all the gunk & couldn't turn properly!!! I was also applying more pressure than needed which was making lines in my cutting mat. I wasn't sure how to take it apart for cleaning until watching this video. After a proper cleaning, its working great again (I even tried the old blades I thought was dull, ended up cutting smoothly). THANK YOU!!!

    The spring fell off of the red piece when I was cleaning the cutter. There was lint even under the red piece. I don’t know which way to turn the spring when reattaching gets to the red piece. Which grove does the spring hook go around? I’m sorry, I should have watched the video before changing the blade!

    I just purchased at 28mm and I have noticed fluff under the clear plastic and being so small it is hard to get it out. Any suggestions? I have quite a few 45mm blades from other brands and since I live in Australia I don't want to ruin the bolt so as soon as the other blades wear out, I will invest in a Martelli 45mm rotary cutter. Thanks for the video.

    I have a right handed Martello cutter that I bought about 2 years ago. Was very excited about it until I had to change the blade. The screw WOULD NOT TURN, I put it aside snd sorta forgot about it. I bought another 45mm cutter. I would very much like to get this problem sorted out so that I can use it as I have arthritis and your cutter was very highly recommended to me for that reason. I cannot find a customer service number so I am hoping you can and will help me. Thank you in advance.

    • @Lindavideos
      @Lindavideos  Рік тому

      The Martelli Cutter works with a 'reverse screw' approach. That means you turn the bolt in the opposite of what seems natural - not "righty tighty" like we're used to. Instead of loosening the bolt, you've been tightening it! You'll probably need to use pliers to unscew it since you've worked so hard. Go in the opposite of what seem normal. The reason they use this method is that each time you roll your cutter forward, it keeps the bolt tight rather than loosen it. I talk about this & show it in several of my videos including the one linked here. I recommend cleaning your cutter at the same time; you'll see me do it in the video too. Good luck! ua-cam.com/video/ltvtL0Nccmw/v-deo.html

    There is one question rising in me: How can I cut with a ruler, if I have to cut on the side of my body? Usually one has to press the ruler down while cutting - and then I have the ruler in front of my body. I haven't seen you cutting with a ruler here in this video.

    • @Lindavideos
      @Lindavideos  3 роки тому

      Hi Sylvia - great question! I can tell you haven't seen any of my other videos. Check out any of my videos where you see me cutting & you'll see our 'no slip' material. Both Martelli Notions (the company that I work for) and myself - Winner Designs - make rulers & templates with this amazing no slip material on the back. I say, "No slipping; no kidding!"

    • @Lindavideos
      @Lindavideos  2 дні тому +1

      Here's David from Martelli showing how. The video is with an older style cutter but it's still the same process. If the spring has gotten stretched out, then you'll need a new one. They sell a kit that you can get here: www.martellinotions.com/cutter-replacemnet-parts-for-45-60-mm.html
      Good luck!

    I just got my cutter today and tried trimming some squares. It’s horrible! I can cut one side of a square easily with this cutter. But, when I had to cut across the top of a square, I had to twist my wrist and arm in a terrible position...very painful.

    This video is five years old. Does that mean that if I go on Amazon and buy a Martelli 2000 rotary cutter, it will be a Version 3? I live in Central Europe, would have to buy from the UK, and there's no way I'm going to a quilting show in the US to deal with problems with the cutter! Also, lots of complaints on Amazon.uk about how the cutter is dull on arrival, the blades freeze if you put it away and don't use it for awhile, that the blades dull easily, that it falls apart (some spring pops out) when you try to change the blades, that you can't change the blades safely...

    • @Lindavideos
      @Lindavideos  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for your comments. Yes, it is an older video but we have newer videos up as well. I've been told, for social media rating reasons, not to remove any video so you will see tins & many older videos here. Plus, there's good info in there! As for purchasing through Amazon, you're not purchasing from Martelli so there's no guarantee as to what someone else sells. They may sell an older or used cutter - no telling.... I hear all of the time from customers how much longer our blades last & how sharp they are. I have never heard that they freeze with no use & I haven't experienced that myself. There is definitely a 'right' way to remove the blade so the spring doesn't go flying & that's why we have videos. I find it very easy to change the blade. too. Again, thanks for your feedback; I hope this answers some of your concerns.
