You are much better carpenter than a many other 'carpenters' on UA-cam. You're pay attention to your builds and that's indicates the great results. Keep going!
This is great, I hope you read your comments because I have some wood working tricks that would help. If you sandwich the wood between two thin sacrificial pieces when cutting it won’t chip up the edges. You can also use painters tape on your cut line to reduce chipping if you don’t want to waste wood. And lastly if you are being very precise on a cut and don’t want chipping you take a razor blade/utility knife and a metal edge to guide you and cut the top layer of wood before using a saw. This will make a very clean edge if done correctly. If you want me to make an example video I can Hope that helps you
Hey man, anyone who tells you not to do something cause they think you are a "bad carpenter" obviously has no idea how good carpenters are made. Thats pretty impressive for what it is!
Great Idea and realization as usual! May I suggest an Idea? I believe a laptop is a very useful minimalist form factor. By disassembling the display of an old laptop, we can get a ligh-use computer in a book-thin form factor (the detached display can also be used as a separate display by connecting some other peripherals). I believe this could be good for making a media pc hooked up to the living room tv or a kitchen pc for showing recipies or online-ordering groceries (installing a Chromium OS on it might be more adequate for this use case). What do you think?
That's a pretty good idea, but such system will have very limited (or none) upgrade options. Mini STX is actually upgradeable, and you can easily make a low profile custom case using acrylic, steel or aluminum.
I really like your minimal use of power tools, especially for cutting metal. Your projects look beautiful and doable at home with limited resources. Looking forward to more such videos. Edit: If possible, make a case that can take 4 or more 3.5 inch drives. Looking for inspiration to design a Nas case.
Thanks - I’m well aware that my designs might not be appealing to everyone in their entirety, but I’m glad that you found at least some parts of this project interesting :)
@@YetAnotherTechChannel no the desing is good just the material is an alert, before people didn't use wood because risk of fire, but now a lot of people are using it.
Nice case! Haven't really seen angled aluminum bent like that anywhere else and it's perfect for my upcoming scratch build. Where did you get the idea? People seem to mostly use rivets with alu...
Fantastic job! I Finally made my wooden "briefcase" computer/monitor all-in-one but just need to make a lid for the interior. Any idea on how to do that with hand tools? I am at a college so I can't use any factory-level tools like you have unfortunately. Might be able to go down to engineering and see if they can help with some specific cutting measurements. My box is 40x60cm and so I ordered two pieces of aluminium sheets with holes in them that are 42x30 to make one 40-ishx60 piece. But I don't know how to hold them together. Was thinking to make a wooden frame somehow. I have some metal "L" brackets for the corners to screw the frame into. Is this a good idea? I also want to install some fans if possible since I am using a low profile Noctua CPU cooler and the MSI low profile GTX 1050ti. My build is flat horizontally and I have a Silverstone mini-itx PSU with a 1tb wd hdd and 500gb ssd from crucial held in place with "L" brackets. I am using a splitter and converter so my monitor pulls power from my power supply and have come up with a crude DIY way to screw the graphics card bracket into the case wall so that it is a little bit away from the back and the side and am using an extension cable to lay it flat and extend it away from my motherboard. Only have one power cable coming out of the PC and have a USB hub for WIFI, Bluetooth, and mouse and keyboard, etc. Any thoughts on this build? It can be folded up like a suitcase for traveling and then I just put my mouse and keyboard in my backpack.
Does anyone know the technical name of the aluminum that's been used here for the frame? Watching this video has given me a LONG list of ideas for some projects, all because of that aluminum framing method. Also, would a miniITX mainboard work inside this case or would the dimensions have to be adjusted? I'm putting together plans for a hackintosh build to be my DAW. As always, your work is brilliant in its simplicity & function and stunning to look at.
The cube will have to be 3 cm bigger to fit a mini ITX motherboard... and you will most probably need to find room for the power supply - HD Plex would be the easiest to fit.
Looks like the AsRock STX board. You can see the DC adapter port at ua-cam.com/video/h6yVAMh31dg/v-deo.htmlm5s You have to get the adapter separate: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157723&cm_re=stx-_-13-157-723-_-Product

That's a 'special' pop-rivet gun that can be used with those inserts. I tried searching for it online, but I couldn't find it anywhere outside of Poland :/
Power is delivered by an external 120W power brick. Mini STX platform wasn't designed for gamers hence the lack of PCI-E slot... but I got a M.2 to PCI-E x4 adapter and will be trying to connect a GTX1050 ;)
Wow your channel is pure art . Unfortunately my hands can t even screw a screw into wood 😅 but maybe a friend of mine could make me some of your works for me :D

Everything you see on my channel was made in a flat, in a room that's less than 11 square meters ;) I did have to invest some $$$ in tools but I got the money back after completing a few projects :)
While this looks very elegant, like all diy case builders they don't show how is looks with all the cables inserted! How these are dealt with has to be considered in the design and shown in the final result imo.
This is a bit unusual motherboard - it has a barrel power plug at the back for connecting an external DC power brick - just as you would power a laptop.

1:12 what is the name of the tool ?
I hope that STX isn't dead in the water, because that kind of project is really neat. This looks really nice.
Yeah, I really dig the STX form factor - you can actually make a passively cooled general purpose computer without trying too hard.

What type of rivets are you using to mount the hardware to? Rivet nuts? If so where from?
M3 rivet nuts, I buy these at a local hardware store.

Nope, you can't smell a thing... maybe the wax, just a little bit. But it's natural and actually has a pretty nice scent :)

I figured it was logical to make bents and preserve the continuity of the piece of aluminum just to limit the number of joints :)

Rivet gun

what tool did you use for threaded inserts?
That's a 'special' pop-rivet gun that can be used with those inserts. I tried searching for it online, but I couldn't find it anywhere outside of Poland :/
Can you do one that includes an SFX PSU?
I will most definitely be doing larger builds, with SFX or HDPLEX power supplies, but I don't think I will revisit this exact styling.
is wooden pc case safe?
where is PSU ??
External power brick.
what you talk about is look like a mess behind so why not using a bigger case in that "case":D
whats a good thickness for aluminum or steal panels?
Honestly, I don't know - never worked with panels... my guess is 2 mm, but I might be way off :/
