I'm making miniature snowshoes to accessorize my cardboard room box. It's only 3 inches deep but it looks deeper due to a forced perspective illusion. There's enough room for a fireplace, antique looking stove, a chair and lots of accessories. I made it using a damaged Home Depot box.

Stick them in the corner behind the chair. Snow shoes aren't something someone that uses them is gonna display. I grew up in Alaska. I used them when I went hunting and trapping in the winter I just took mine off and tossed them next to the wood stove to dry after using them. Some were easy to get but not where I'd trip over them. I just propped them up by the wood stove melted snow dripped off and it dried the water up. Mine aren't as old school as the mini ones you made but the native people are the ones that told me what to do with mine to keep them in working order

@@queencityminis just a suggestion. The space you created looks like it's a used lived in kind of space. Thought might be helpful to know what people that use them do with them
The hole allows your toe to flexibly bend through the shoe so when you are walking the motion of your foot is more natural and less stiff. Not sure that makes sense if you haven't actually snow shoed, but if you did, you'd see its purpose right away. Fantastic miniatures. You've given me a lot of ideas.

Haha seriously! Sometimes doing tiny things is a bit trying.
Maybe make a little lift behind the chair and put them on that, so they can be seen from behind the chair, along with a fishing rod next to them..😊
That would be cool. Great idea! Maybe I could make a little crate with a lid to sit them on or even a bag of flour.

Agreed. I'm glad you're not all saying to remove the pot rack and put them there because it would damage the wall. It's so much easier to just lean them up against something.

Because antique snow shoes are rather expensive and even in days gone by were kept for many years and well cared for, I think one would not hang them from those hooks by the top. I'd rest them up against the chair if you intend to have a fire in the fire place. That way we know it is winter and the snow shoes just got used. Maybe a little faux puddle from the melting snow would be fun.

Very nice. I like all the little details you added. I would prop the snowshoes in the corner of the wall opposite the chair. You could put them behind the chair but that would look too crowded. You have to show us a picture when you get finished. I love your work.
In the next video for this series, I'm adding more details to the left of the room under the handmade shelf and all the accessories. That video may be the last one so it will include the food and stove top items. I'll find a space for the snowshoes too.

oh man the snowshoes would look so good on that wall, but the risk of ruining the wall is too high. besides the person owning the cabin would need them to be acessible. put them by the bear trap and other tools.
I agree. I was careful to hide the right side of the room during filming bc I've done more over there and haven't released the video yet. They'll have to go on the right side of the room.

I really love the fact that you show different ways of making things. I live on a small island in the indian ocean so walking into a craft store is not a options. I am always looking for creative ways to make miniature with everyday items.
Thank you! When it comes to making miniatures, we can almost always substitute one material for another. There's a lot of flexibility.

Beautifully done. Is there room against the wall under the broom and bear trap? I can't recall what's on that side of the room, or maybe just behind the chair crossed over each other , and standing up in that corner? No idea if that made sense, but I can see it in my head!! hehe
You're clever! I intentionally didn't show that side of the room bc I added more but this video would've been too long if I had shown all of that. So that side of the room is occupied.

You could have woven the thread through the burlap holes, I saw this elsewhere when someone used embroidery floss in different colours, laced through the burlap to make a rug. Not that the idea would have jumped to my mind either, if I hadn't seen it lol! I am well acquainted with leather skiving because I make miniature saddlery. (not well, like the amazing Daisy Stalls, but I do it all the same lol).
People have a lot more patience that I have 😆

Your chair tutorial today inspired me to come back and watch this again-going to try making 4 Windsor back chairs this weekend! I think if I combine techniques from each of the tutorials, it might work. And if they’re half an ounce as beautiful as your tiny artworks, I’ll feel so satisfied.

I like the way they turned out. Actually I would put them next to the stove but behind the chair, visible but not so prominent they draw the attention there every time you look. They are a need but not everyday. Have a great day

I know this is an older video and it may have been mentioned but the bamboo screwed bending technique might make a very nice bent wood rocker.

Excellent video I've been actually watching all these room box videos. You are exceptionally clever and talented. You might know this already but in case you still don't know the square hole in the webbing is where the toe of your boot goes when you're walking on the snowshoes without it the action of your foot would have nowhere to go and it would break the webbing 😃

a substitute for the leather is a brown paper bag. If you roll and distress the paper it looks like leather and can be painted any color. The paper is of course not durable, but if they are for display only the paper is good. It is also easy to cut and glue in place.
The lacing would be difficult, but I would probably just glue short pieces on
I agree! I've made paper bag leather previously. It's a great technique. I even used it to cover the table top of a miniature desk. It looked great. I've also used it to cover books, of course.
