I actually considered sending you a CBA game I was in for you to cast a few weeks ago, because I was both aware you knew the game mode extremely well, and because it managed to be an absolute slogfest where it became a 3v4, I was on the 3 team, and we began burning resources down so much we began trying to trade to keep ourselves afloat. I've played years and ended up at a relatively high level. I played my first CBA game about a month ago. Quite an interesting setup. I like the 6x tech
The hectic nature of cba 6x slightly ruins the strategy aspect, as you said in the video. Instead, it gives you that crazy twist of over-powered units, and crazy civ bonuses that make it so much fun, similarly to your 10x shared civ bonus community games. In other words, it’s a stupider yet more awesome version of cba.
@@T90Official What 6x brings 1. More important to have positive KD. An age advantage equals at least 6x2 better blacksmith and is definitely devastating. 2. Easier to snipe vils from far range 3. If you're curious about the higher pop cap, the reason is obvious: you're not having the true CBA experience if the game isn't laggy. As such, with computers getting more powerful and less laggy, increasing pop limit was the solution
I used to play manual Castle Blood on the Zone back in the day. Used to be 4 on the northwest vs 4 on the southeast so the distance was generally a little greater. No unit pop limits. Castle age start Generally ranged and especially gunpowder civs required lots of kills to get to imp, like around 1000 for spanish. Razes didn't give anything. There was an extra castle or two outside of the base. Vils were very hard to come by, and everyone had 2 paladins that respawned in your base as soon as they died lol. I loved this scenario like crazy and tried my best to replicate it from memory and FFA with the AI.
Oh and another thing, there would be clans that had their own versions of the map, like one with the 4 sided shape like this one, and they experimented with like 4 extra castles outside instead of 1 and stuff different kill requirements and stuff like that. Map sizes were pretty big and gave people lots of time to build up. Some maps also used bridges to connect castle areas to mainland so people would be forced to build more outside. You could also build siege workshops and towers, which you haven't mentioned but I assumed weren't in the game since you didn't try cannons or anything.

I was introduced to your channel when we played in the same CBA game way back in the Voobly days and you asked me to check you out, here I am all these years later and you’re still making videos featuring this classic map.
Ahh fond memories of playing CBA on Gameranger back in the day. There used to be dozens of CBA's going at any one time, and a lot of variations of CBA, such as spawning varying hero units at certain kill counts, others where you get a Genghis Khan that slowly builds up stats over time to the point it can one hit castles, or where the end game turns into either a steady spread of towers and Siege Rams and cav or a mega defensive last stand type build of walls, towers and garrisoned/stacked archers. Tensions are very high in CBA games between players, one poor game and you'll often get blocked by ppl, used to get so anxious playing CBA, but, it is fun and exhilarating when doing well :)
I played a ton of a custom map in Starcraft 2 back in the day that was just like this, I didn't realise until now it was probably a staple for RTS. Really cool, thanks for the vid!
The most popular Custom Scenario map in Age of Empires, but there are so many more CS maps out there that deserve attention. Check out the mods and scenarios available in DE and try them out.
I have played CBA or CBA-Hero scenarios a little on Voobly. I sucked but still enjoyed them a lot. It was hard enough to keep in mind good/bad civ matchups with 8 civs. I cannot imagine it with the number we have now. Dunno if I want more of CBA content on your channel though as it is quite hard to actually know what is happening in the game. But, thanks for this video anyway.
Ah, this reminds me of footmen frenzy from Warcraft 3. Would be cool to see aoe2 evolve a similar wacky and insane modding scene, despite how implausible it is.
Love CBA. There was a brief moment in time when ZeroEmpires was slowly leaving the scene and T90 was slowly growing that there didn't seem to be many AoE games to watch. But I found some random dude who was into CBA and would stream his play. I'd never heard of hit and was fascinated with the game mode. That guy stopped posting much after a few months and I hadn't seen it since. Cool to see again.
I've always been interested in the custom map making scene in AoE2, as I've spent most of my childhood playing custom maps on Warcraft 3. Both games have their limitations and I just want to see what kind of game modes AoE2 can do.
Fun to see a different scenario on the channel! CBA has such a large playerbase and it’s something i played exclusively for a long time. Wish I had been in your lobby xD
Dude, I gotta say. I am having the exact experience you described in the beginning and this is the first T90 video i'm coming back to since being a longtime sub. Glad to see you're still making content man and it's good to be back :)
I always saw 2 or 3 CBA lobbies but I never knew what is was,and the name always was "no noobs" so I didn't want to join and drag people down,or be completely confused by it. Glad you made this video!
Dude this brings back memories. I remember watching Zero empires and then I switched to watching you T90. Awesome content thanks for the amazing content bro. Hope to be in one of your games one day.
This reminds me of a custom map of Red Alert 3 called Battle Arena which was very similar and always a blast. Neat, this was probably the OG inspiration for it!
I remember playing this as CBT (Castle Blood Turbo) on the MSN Zone in 2001-2005 time frame. It was like this except you had to manually queue up the units in the castle. I dumped a lot of time in that and just the custom scenario game room back then. Glad to see it is still around.
I remember playing hours of an earlier version of this game back in like 2004, no UA-cam at the time so obviously couldnt find any footage of the game but this confirms I wasnt crazy
CBA is my favorite scenario. But i think in the old version of the game there was more to do outside in upgrade etc. Might be wrong, it's been a while.
I fucking LOVE CBA SO many good memories of Castleblood auto. AND all the other "autos and store scenarios" oh AND the rpg scenarios players made , they were so creative. I just loved scenarios to death If I must be honest. Soldier Store and Archer Blood were two of my faves also. One creative player I met even made a 'halo-inspired' map, sidewinder. A glacier, icey kind of map :) Thanks again for your videos t90 you make me very happy brother
I used to make blood fest maps for SWGB way back in the day. Had a lot of fun with it in the old AOE2 days. Good to see there's still a scene! It's a bit different than I remember (we had some islands with flags in them, so you could set which unit would spawn at your base by sending your island unit into a flagged square to be replicated on the main map. Upgrades gave more unit options, but I don't remember having ages or unit upgrade buildings or villagers. Lots of innovations in the past 20 years!)
Never heard of this until now but that was fun to watch. Nice comeback too since it seemed like it was over for you guys, but Mayan player carried gray.
So it looks like I’m the only one that noticed that after gray lost his vills he had their spawn point blocked. So… yeah, getting more raises wouldn’t get more vills unless he deleted the barracks he had blocking them. Also it looks like you’ll have to do some more of these. Looking forward to it!
Castle Blood was my childhood it has so many different version with litle island on the border with a monk and units you can spawn when you reach a certain ammount of kills

I loved playing scenarios as a kid playing the old AoC, being CBA one of the main ones! Its amazing that you are giving it some love!
I remember playing this on MSN games
I loved CBA when I was younger. I was rootin' for johnny as I was watching, because his teamwork and then the hold from him and teal were just huge.
Thank you for your content T90! Been playing AoE2 HD for about 11 years and was always scared of multi-player. Def gonna be giving it a chance now :)
T90, you have triggered a nostalgic travel back to when I also played cba. I follow you for several years and you are still my fav AoE2 caster bro
Yeah mate.
More scenarios from time to time would be awesome.
Thanks T90
Was great to see you cast this, used to play when I was a kid. never very good at it but scenarios were my favourite thing to play
Thanks for uploading this - last I played CBA was maybe 12 years ago. Video brings it all back, thank you t90
Definitely post other scenarios! You can even post them to the extras channel if you're worried about the algorithm for the main channel
Amazing that you make a video on CBA! This really helped me to get to the start of it!
I was playing cannibal escape scenario 😅
Ah, this reminds me of footmen frenzy from Warcraft 3. Would be cool to see aoe2 evolve a similar wacky and insane modding scene, despite how implausible it is.
Love CBA. There was a brief moment in time when ZeroEmpires was slowly leaving the scene and T90 was slowly growing that there didn't seem to be many AoE games to watch. But I found some random dude who was into CBA and would stream his play. I'd never heard of hit and was fascinated with the game mode. That guy stopped posting much after a few months and I hadn't seen it since. Cool to see again.
Holy shit I totally forgot about CBA. Haven't played it in way, way too long.
I've always been interested in the custom map making scene in AoE2, as I've spent most of my childhood playing custom maps on Warcraft 3. Both games have their limitations and I just want to see what kind of game modes AoE2 can do.
We need more CBA! I loved playing it in the past. You making videos on it will bring more CBA lobbies.
T90CBA finally!
Very cool! I'd love to see more scenario play like this and the one where single units fight each other in the middle and try to kill outposts
Fun to see a different scenario on the channel! CBA has such a large playerbase and it’s something i played exclusively for a long time. Wish I had been in your lobby xD
cbf and cba will forever be the absolute best modes
CBA looks fun. Might try it sometie. GG
Always wanted to understand this game, and this has been super informative! Thank you for breaking down a CBA game for us!
I played some much CBA back in the Voobly era! T90, I’d love if you could also cast some CBA Hero (if that also exists in DE)!
Lets hope this vid will bring more custom games.
Ive seen some of it on Dave’s channel but never understood it, so thanks T90 for this. Nice slide show btw
I'm happy to see this video doing well. CBA is a lot of fun and it needs more players.
Would Love to See this in Community Games!
I fucking LOVE CBA
SO many good memories of Castleblood auto.
A glacier, icey kind of map :)
Thanks again for your videos t90 you make me very happy brother
I used to make blood fest maps for SWGB way back in the day. Had a lot of fun with it in the old AOE2 days. Good to see there's still a scene! It's a bit different than I remember (we had some islands with flags in them, so you could set which unit would spawn at your base by sending your island unit into a flagged square to be replicated on the main map. Upgrades gave more unit options, but I don't remember having ages or unit upgrade buildings or villagers. Lots of innovations in the past 20 years!)
That scenario is still around
I remember playing this as a kid and not understanding anything, so confused on how units spawned automatically.
CBA was pretty fun to watch!
Never heard of this until now but that was fun to watch. Nice comeback too since it seemed like it was over for you guys, but Mayan player carried gray.
I have been waiting for a video on this
Neat, I think I have seen Dave playing another one where you change your unit by moving to a different flag.
I love seeing these scenario videos! please make more of them!
Its nice to see some different game modes and scenarios. Keep the wacky and weird coming!
I did not find any tutorial when I tried to play CBA. Love ur video
So it looks like I’m the only one that noticed that after gray lost his vills he had their spawn point blocked. So… yeah, getting more raises wouldn’t get more vills unless he deleted the barracks he had blocking them.
Also it looks like you’ll have to do some more of these. Looking forward to it!
i played this for 11 years.
I never knew you got vils from razes. I thought it was time lockes. I've played like 5 CBA games and in all I've only gotten like 4 vils in total.
Holy shi... played this so much
Gameranger FTW!!!!
It was very fun to watch, teamwork very important indeed. We need more of those.
CBA has always been the best part of aoe2 multiplayer
Castle Blood was my childhood it has so many different version with litle island on the border with a monk and units you can spawn when you reach a certain ammount of kills
Interesting it has such a strange name. This is very much like the Evolves, footman frenzy or marine wars from starcraft and warcraft custom games.
I played footman frenzy in wc3 personally but I like to think me and all the other people who did the same vibe with this scenario. Any other FF players agree?
Used to play this back in the day ! Awesome.
Hero Fest next?👍
Oh my god, please bring more CBA, I loved it!!
People always used to ask me what CBA is, and I was always disappointed by the videos on UA-cam. Finally I have something to show them! Thank you!
