Hands down the best review of a CWC G10 I’ve seen This is proper enthusiast watch collecting If you own one of these you’re either ex military or a watch connoisseur So much more than the sum of its parts and the heritage alone makes it worth every penny Build quality is first class This is the real deal - something special
Totally onboard with your statement, about "attaching your own memories" - I had the same thoughts, when I bought my G10 4 - 5 years ago. Its a cracking watch, that means a lot to me. I have worn it through some really testing times in life(2 strokes within one year, when I was 52) , and its a watch that will always mean a lot to me. Great review, you have a new subscriber!
Not many people can actually say their field watch has seen field service haha! This watch was made for you! From the color on the box to the strap. It blends perfectly with your green color pallet and looks like its stock issue in your line of work. I have seen people review watches with silk gloves, I have seen people review watches with cotton gloves, but you are the first to review them with combat gloves! 😅I love these! Simple or not you dont want to be struggling with overly complicated stuff when you are being shot at. Stay blessed brother! Hope you are keeping well!
Always a pleasure reading your comments Johan! At this point it feels like you know me so well 😁 Fun fact - neither the watch nor the gloves were issued to me - the gloves are from AliExpress 😂 but I do use similar ones when duty calls 😅
I almost bought the sapphire version, but I saw that it doesn't have the beautiful curved glass. And then I got looking, and noticed that it also has a worse movement, losing 10 seconds per month instead of 10 seconds per year as with this model. So I have ordered the original G10 and I can't wait for it to arrive. The overall design is excellent to look at.
@@MyAffordableWatchCollection Yes I am very happy with it, it is even more solid feeling than the photos suggest. It's flawless, so we shall see how it stands up to daily wear and tear.
I have the CWC SBS Diver and it’s a superb piece. Built to the specifications laid out by the SBS and CWC are made to the MOD specifications and will endure harsh conditions.
I hope you wash that nato strap!! I'm joking :) I'm sure you do...I love the G10, thank you for a great review.. my Mellor-72 is arriving today. Can't wait
Excellent review and video editing! I’ve always had the G-10/G-22 on my list, but hearing your experience with your G-10 is making me put these watches to the top! 8:53 What leather bund strap is this?!
Thanks man for yet another awesome and honest review. These watches are really cool and I think one would look good in the watch box next to my favourite field watch; my Bulova Hack😘👍
Great review with nice photography. I like the G10, you may have prompted me to buy one 😁. Higher water resistance would be the only way to improve it, but that might make it thicker, so may be not 🤔
Back when I was in the RAF for a short time. They had boxes of used G10s with no battery, I did snag some but I allways thought it was just a metal swatch and not many people would wear them, mostly casios and whatever. I have a special shitter as in my first adult watch for middle school. It's an avia marina (ironicaly it was endorsed by the RAF) simple 316 (feid swimmer) as in no rotating bezel , hardlex and a miyota date quartz with a 10 year battery life. It was used hard. As in the crystal is so scratched it's hard to tell the time, but it has male end links and it's too tight so maybe a new clasp and sapphire crystal, my first big boy watch was a Tissot field/dress that I loved but it was lost in luggage. Also when my dad died someone took his GMT master from the 50s. I still have a few other watches from him but it was a rare watch with the original Bakelite bezel...... Any item can have alot of value from the memory's you make with it but CWC must be smoking crack at that price.... I understand why they went with the G10 as less than 40 years before it came out it was very hard getting movements and watches from Switzerland. Some militarys will order commemorative watches but I don't think any has a standard issue. I do have a north Korean quartz watch (pretty sure it's made in China or at least the movement and battery) it looks like a military watch but I'm not sure.(Not a good watch but NK wants cheap stuff that kind of works and looks like it's from NK) Most wear casios but now since watches with sapphire, ceramic. Quality but low cost Japanese auto movements I do see people wearing them more also higher end stuff as watches have become hot.
Great review, is this the FORSTNER KLIP at 1:00 ? If so; 18mm or 19mm? I’m unsure what size. Ideally don’t want the gaps like the nato strap does. Thanks
Thanks! That's an 18mm Bonklip "style" bracelet off a random eBay seller. I wish I could help with a link, but it's been a few years since I picked it up and I can't find it again 😅
I recently had the chance to get my birthyear watch: an 81 CWC Fatboy Navigator. Certainly, the most expensive quartz field watch I will ever buy. But it's something very special. The G10 watches are just legends in their own right if you ask me.
@@MyAffordableWatchCollection Agreed. Unfortunately, the 1981 navigators have no marking as to what branch they were issued. So it could be RAF or Royal Navy. I am just imagining what stories this watch could tell. ;-)
This review wonderfully captures the inexplicable love I have for my G10 too. It’s such a perfect watch, with far more soul and personality than you’d ever expect from a basic quartz piece.
It's a classic and purposeful timepiece, but it isn't boring by any means. Of all the straps shown in the video, I liked the mustard yellow one most. But most importantly, may this watch always bring you luck when you use it for its intended purpose mate.
It is expensive for what it is. The standard strap should be removed and an Archer strap fitted instead. Archer were the original suppliers of NATO straps. It is a very useable watch and the acrylic crystal can be polish with white toothpaste to remove stratches. A watch that has a history (sort of) but is considerably less durable than a Casio or G-shock today.
I love the style of that watch but it is too expensive to me for what it is. Yes, it has a historical background… but let be honest, it is fairly basic. I wouldn’t pay more than 200€ (170£) for it. Last year I bought a replica of this CWC, the Rdunae RA-01 G10. It has the exact same dimensions, a well made sandblasted finish on 316L steel, a screw down case back, 50m WR, a slight patina on the (good) lume, very convenient removable spring bars (I don’t like NATO straps), a nice double domed K1 mineral crystal which is pretty scratch resistant (easy and cheap to replace by an acrylic crystal in the future if needed), and a quartz Miyota 2035 Super (very basic movement but good enough, as precise as most of quartz, and only 3€ to replace if any problem). And it only cost 50€ (58£). This is my only replica watch in the collection. I don’t like buying replicas but for that specific one, I wasn’t ready to pay that much for a fairly basic watch. To me, CWC prices are a bit high, even with their history.
For the price, it should be an automatic or at least a smooth sweep quartz. It should also have an option for removable spring bars. Who wants to wear a sweat drenched smelly nylon NATO strap?
Everyone loves their own “brand”! 😂😷 Seriously though, this watch was meant for hard military use and having springbars is just another failure point. Yes, nylon straps can get a little gross and smelly, but, as with issued weapons and gear, these things must cleaned and maintained routinely. ☝️
Normally I would agree with you, but like I said, I love this watch too much. I think it has more than just the specs on paper, something extra. Thank you for watching!

The G10 is a true classic. It does all the simple things well. It’s a quartz watch that can walk amongst mechanicals and not feel inferior.
Absolutely 💯
