This is a nice update on the general service watch! CWC can't put the stock numbers on them anymore as they are, of course, no longer issued to an MoD contract ! The watches after 2008 from Silvermans all had fictitious numbers anyway? It's just a good watch in its own right selling now on pure nostalgia!

Really cool watch! CWC never disappoints.
It's EVERYTHING a 'tool watch' should be. Not as dressy as an Explorer/Everest/Black bay et al but the blasted stainless isn't the scratch magnet that the polished bezels of the others are. You also skip the $300+ every 3-4 years servicing too.

I own the G22 basically the automatic version of your watch. I love this watch and the price on these are very reasonable. I’ll need to pickup a bumper for my G22

Nice to see these little overlooked gems get some attention, love the GS and the all round no worries convenience they give. Good review. I prefer using the CWC 20mm NATO's, once fitted a couple times they go on easy and they fit perfect if you don't like the gap.
True true, that pvd NATO was a 20, most go on real easy! I should have mentioned that!!!
I did the same on a white version and it looks more substantial. I pick up a grey and a maroon 20 mm. It passes them through the 19 mm lug with no problem.
It’s so solid and well made. Love it.
Such a great watch. If you want a bullet proof watch, that isn’t going to weigh you down, I don’t think it gets much better. I like to put a 19mm strap on mine and it fits like a dream. I find the 18mm natos that come with it just don’t fit so well.
Do 20mm NATOs fit too?
@@memes_haram People say they do, and they do kind of fit, but in my opinion they don’t fit well. If you want a perfect fit it has to be a 19mm. Watch Gecko sell some nice ones, and the CWC site now sell a 19mm Military grey strap with brushed metal that looks very smart.
Too small for me, but great watch! Love that snap on case cover/protector. Really gives you another look and is utilitarian. Solid quartz movement, too. Thanks for sharing!

@@ChillinwitWatches I don’t know, even 38mm looks small on me (8” wrist). I’ve got a couple but they don’t get worn very much for that reason. This is a great looking watch. I’m going to explore the idea of a bund strap for one of my smaller watches...maybe it will give an overall bigger look.

I think they were. I'm not overly sensitive to that, but I think the almost rough hewn case definitely results in some flat sides and 90⁰ corners.
Does it have sharp angles round the lug tips? You know, bits that can wear the inner part of your cuffs.

Those are called paratrooper straps and you can get them from cheapest NATO straps.com.

Two pieces, and it clips onto the fixed bar just with an open loop if you get me. ... the loop comes down a fair way and imagine its steel so can't imagine it would get pulled back out. Look good!
I have checked the website of CWC saying the thickness of the watch is 12mm. However you said 11.2mm. Why there is such a different?
Dunno, all I can tell you is that I measured it with calipers.

The only thing that bugs me about this watch is the crown which protrudes much more than on the other CWC G10s. I guess it is related to it being a screw down crown but still, it seems a bit gratuitous.

@@ChillinwitWatches it's probably so its easier to unscrew, it this watch had the shorter one from the G10 it would probably be too hard to unscrew. Knowing which CWC G10 to get is very hard lol, there is a strong argument in favour of this watch if one is going to buy new, otherwise buying an older issued watch seems better.
Tough call for me. These are approximately the same price as a stainless steel Marathon general purpose but the Marathon has tritium and is maybe larger. For the same price I could get a Hamilton khaki mechanical, tough call indeed. Can anybody confuse me further by offering more choices?

It's worth bearing in mind the marathon and the Hamilton only have 3m of water resistance and the Cwc has 200m .
Yes, gives you better water resistance, but the ability to change the battery easily yourself lost. Nah rather have the original.

Well that's a circular argument, the reason why you need to open the battery hatch with a coin on the other G10s is that the battery only lasts a few years, the GS has a 10 year Li battery. You can get a case opening tool for very little and can plan for that eventuality years in advance ;-) Not having the watch leak is surely significantly more relevant. A snap on case back and battery hatch is very retro and from a watchmaker's perspective it is cheap and nasty, as you invariably put dings in the case back removing it to do repairs, and the design puts WR at the back of list of priorities, being two gaskets rather than one and the snap on design being poor for WR integrity. Using a coin on the battery hatch mangles the slot after a few times making it harder to operate.
Yes, valid point you make about the battery life possible 10 years rather than about 2.. My G10 1989 previously owned by a family member the battery hatch is not mangled though after many changes.... It does show slight wear though in the coin slot fair enough.. For practical ease still think it's a winner...
With those vocal skills and that face perhaps a podcast is a more natural fit?
