  • Riva Tez wants to fund epistemological anarchy in science. Former VC, Former Director at Intel, former store owner, Riva does whatever she wants.
We talked about how Riva built a unique career doing whatever she wants, what she's learned from the philosopher of science Paul Feyerabend, why the brain might be an antenna, why she moved away from Transhumanism, why Rationalism is cringe, how she thinks Urbit will win, and how she's planning to introduce epistemological anarchism to contemporary science funding.

Riva, once again, hit on the nail the head. Sums up a lot, completely, precisely and accurately without the usual spiritual spin.

I love at the end how she mentioned that culture was the key - not politics. I took a trip to New Orleans and I was swept away with how beautiful the city was. The music, the food, the spirituality/superstition, the legends, and the party culture, the unique architecture and cultural heritage made the place so comforting. The wave of cultural homogeneity that has been pulsing out of the west coast really grinds my gears. Seriously so many gay guys and lesbians I've known now go by he/they or she/they or just they and it feels like I'm living in a nightmare. Really think about the cultural influence that just the Google Doodle has had on this world and politics in the last 15 years -- it's astounding. Leads me to think is tech/social media really evil or is it the PNW and Bay Area?

At 18:00 Christians may call this a “word of knowledge”
“To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:8 and other places in the same book)

it's amazing how religious people will make metaphysical claims for thousands of years and materialists will gaslight them into an early grave only to finally come around to their position and never acknowledge their errors or abuse.

Love this! “Our descendants will probably laugh at how passively we accepted endemic pathogens and instead, blamed genetics and environment for chronic illness. As Paul W. Ewald humbly puts forward, the truth will probably not be binary. Most likely, the etiology of our contemporary chronic ailments will include both infectious and noninfectious causes. Genes that correlate with increased susceptibility of certain cancers may actually be genes that increase our susceptibility to the harm of the pathogens that lead to cancers.”
