- Riva Tez wants to fund epistemological anarchy in science. Former VC, Former Director at Intel, former store owner, Riva does whatever she wants.
We talked about how Riva built a unique career doing whatever she wants, what she's learned from the philosopher of science Paul Feyerabend, why the brain might be an antenna, why she moved away from Transhumanism, why Rationalism is cringe, how she thinks Urbit will win, and how she's planning to introduce epistemological anarchism to contemporary science funding.

Riva is unrivaled. The esoteric bits of power and potential of the mind + public not aware of the true power >>>
Riva, once again, hit on the nail the head. Sums up a lot, completely, precisely and accurately without the usual spiritual spin.
I love at the end how she mentioned that culture was the key - not politics. I took a trip to New Orleans and I was swept away with how beautiful the city was. The music, the food, the spirituality/superstition, the legends, and the party culture, the unique architecture and cultural heritage made the place so comforting. The wave of cultural homogeneity that has been pulsing out of the west coast really grinds my gears. Seriously so many gay guys and lesbians I've known now go by he/they or she/they or just they and it feels like I'm living in a nightmare. Really think about the cultural influence that just the Google Doodle has had on this world and politics in the last 15 years -- it's astounding. Leads me to think is tech/social media really evil or is it the PNW and Bay Area?
Your Newsletter is gold, some of the pieces are highlights of my weekly readings
wow, streaming culture has really changed how people decorate their living spaces
Portorican prostitutes were using neon lights and portraits of the Virg' long before it was cool. Back when Facetime and Streaming was a $50 and $100 respectively.
No that’s just Riva. She’s been like that as long as I’ve known her.
Wow. One of the best OtherLife interviews I've watched.
Could it be the world is going to see multiple Atlas Shrugged mini-series in the upcoming years? This is the second time I've heard talks about it, very interesting!
Love these talks Justin
Riva is a Male to Female Transgender. Very obvious. Good stuff.

Robert Nozick is totally underrated. The man was a true American genius of the 20th century. Uncle Ted is based as fuck, obviously.
New subscriber... Haven't really been engaged, but this was great. I struggled to follow her a few times, but Riva is an interesting character and free shrkeli
edit: the superfluity of the word "based" and "cringe" was a bit... cringe, tho
At 18:00 Christians may call this a “word of knowledge”
“To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:8 and other places in the same book)
So good
it's amazing how religious people will make metaphysical claims for thousands of years and materialists will gaslight them into an early grave only to finally come around to their position and never acknowledge their errors or abuse.
Based interview, Justin!
Love this! “Our descendants will probably laugh at how passively we accepted endemic pathogens and instead, blamed genetics and environment for chronic illness. As Paul W. Ewald humbly puts forward, the truth will probably not be binary. Most likely, the etiology of our contemporary chronic ailments will include both infectious and noninfectious causes. Genes that correlate with increased susceptibility of certain cancers may actually be genes that increase our susceptibility to the harm of the pathogens that lead to cancers.”

Ariba Riva she just speaks and let's it come to her.
Josha bach would say she is overfitting a bit
God i love riva
Galileo faced peer review by the inquisition though!
Today he would be called a conspiricy theorist. nowadays everything is peer reviewed to just have one narrativ
Galileo was peer reviewing Aristotle when he was dropping objects from the leaning tower of Pisa, in public. Nobody could refute his experiment so they silenced him and made him denounce himself 🤣
49:14 top Justin moment
Princess riva
Wow.
well im so successful is cus i met someone
started sobbing when she mentioned she has a boyfriend
All attractive heterosexual women have boyfriends. Get used to the idea that if you want a desirable mate you'll have to steal her from her boyfriend or accept that you'll die alone.
He definitely has a great energy and interesting outlook on life! However I don't listen to Other Life often but Justin always strike me has having an incredibly dull, unsubtle way if interviewing... Nice episode nonetheless!
What is this version of trustafarian?
Why would you make that presumption?
interesting person.
I don’t understand how Stoicism was tied closely with spirituality and how it’s proposed that it makes us weak.
Read Nietzsche's Genealogy for a take among those lines
Inspiring, also but not only since she is a woman, and showing her work and skills
BET AGAINST THE NEWS!
Make a sonnnng Akira the Donnn
Beat farmers be farming
Two of my clients unexpectedly in the same place. THE BEST TIMELINE!
She’s on the spectrum: no eye contact. Thinker but not a doer. Can’t do if you can’t make eye contact.
Kinda scary she literally works for the City of London...
that seems to me a bit of. like speaking of the elites but she works for the elites.
What do you mean? did she say that?
@@goldfaust8613 she works for Goldman Sachs mate.
@@paganizonda1000ps thats a joke. Her bio says she is CEO of Goldman Sachs... do you actually think she is the CEO?
The people want atlas shrugged movies and tv content !!
Regardless of the how this might read,
I came in expecting a cheerleader, but I came out having met a sage. Taking every conotation of those two terms.
I came into the comments expecting nothing, but I still came out dissapointed.
LiT
If you are 1/4 of the way in and not feeling it, hang in there. Maybe skip to the 1/2 way point because it gets really good.
what is wet brain?
Atlas Shrugged is a great story, poorly written imo. Massive slog to get through
Talking about a whole lot of stuff you know little about
So let me get this STRAIGHT. Her main selling points are being a FAILURE, being a WOMAN, and being ATTRACTIVE… And THAT is how she got into a position at INTEL… MAKE IT MAKE SENSE…
it's over for us uglycels
Life ain't fair cupcake. Don't hate cuz you can't relate
She obviously got hired by jim because she has a high iq
He probably knew she would be useful to have on the team instead of another useless member of the team with the same education
