- One of the highest rated US TV hosts, Tucker Carlson, is leaving Fox News, the US media giant has announced.
In a statement, Fox said that the network and Mr Carlson have agreed to "part ways".
His last TV programme was Friday 21 April, the statement added. His primetime slot will now be hosted by a series of interim hosts until a permanent replacement is found.
The brief, two paragraph statement gave no reason for the decision.
The announcement comes just days after Fox News settled a defamation lawsuit from the voting machine company Dominion over its coverage of the 2020 presidential election.

Uh, no. Please listen again to what it's said in the video. Carlson costed almost 800 million dollars to Fox, which had to settle the Dominion lawsuit, because Carlson's messages (and other hosts') clearly showed they were lying to their public (to you) regarding the elections. There was no fraud, they knew it, but they kept saying there had been fraud because it kept their audience happy and the money coming in. Tucker said the truth in his messages - and got fired because of that.
Fox News should have been shut down long ago for spreading propaganda and fake news.

He said quite explicitly that there was no evidence for these allegations, much to the chagrin of his audience. So no, that's not why he was fired. He had the most popular news show in cable history. and brought in millions of subscribers. Firing him has hit Fox's bottom line, and will continue to do so. Most likely he was fired for challenging mainstream narratives about the activities of the US security state. I doubt his 'cultural war' takes even played a role, it's perfectly acceptable to have conservative views about such issues in 'right' leaning media. Challenging powerful interest groups is beyond the pale.

I bet behind the scenes Fox was pressuring Carlson to tone down his "claims" for fear of another defamation suit and Carlson was like "hell no, and what are you going to do about it? Fire your #1 guy?" And so Fox did.
I detest Fox News and Carlson but out of all of them re: the dominion case, he had not made any claims and refused even to have the woman who was making the claims on his show or something, cause he thought she was unreliable per the emails/txts. The only thing they found on him is that privately he thought Trump was a disaster for the party going forward and he hated him. Which is not a fireable offense not liking a politician even if you like some of his policies.
