  • Episode 28 ~ A quick run through of what I keep in my pockets on field work. It's safe to say you should always be prepared for nature and there are a few key pieces of kit every geologist needs (plus a few extras). Get ready for some drone shots and more diapirs.

I have a cottage on the Canadian Sheild In Lanark County. Lots of untouched land, lakes, creeks, rivers, hills, rocks, some active and some abandoned mines.

I am enjoying your geology vids. By all means, don't hesitate to post more. Now I am inspired to edit and post a few of my own. I live in Arizona so there are plenty of rocks and formations to look at around here (it's the editing part that slows me down). Liked and subbed of course!

Really interesting video! Is it common practice for geologists to coast their samples with resin? Also, once back at the lab, do you have to remove it somehow?

Great video, thank you. Another tool you use is a camera (6'10"). Why not your smartphone BTW ? any reason ? About the GPS why not your smartphone ? Is it not good enough (precision, accuracy) ?

    Great vídeo! As a non geologist , i have a question .
Why to Mark the magnetic field of the rock? What is It for

For my work I am looking to see if there is a relationship between the orientation of magnetic particles and the deformation of the evaporites. Then if they can be used to predict the deformation of evaporites when there are no visual indicators. I hope this helps?

WHY DO YOU USE THE BRICKLAYERS HAMMER AND NOT THE GEOLOGISTS HAMMER? I DON'T KNOW WHICH TO BUY.

Guess you need hard heat to protect yourself from those very dangerous bird droppings. When you are out in the open and nothing is overhead bird droppings are serious problem.

Tools of a “field” geologist... I bet you have a lot more, bigger, more expensive tools back at the lab 😋
