Great show! My five choices are Brad Whitford/Tom Hamilton, Brian May/John Deacon, Dave Murray/Steve Harris, John Frusciante/Flea and Pete Townshend/John Entwistle. And now when I think about this I come up with the maybe best example in my opinion : Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill.
Love all of your picks. For me obviously I was thinking Geddy and Alex. My next choice that neither of you picked would be Steve Howe and Chris Squire of Yes. Their tandem of the albums in the 70’s was a HUGE part of what made Yes’s sound
Great show! My 3 Geddy Lee/Alex Lifeson Tony Iommi/Geezer Butler Chris Squire/Steve Howe Hm- Mikael Akerfeldt/Martin Mendez, Jimmy Page/John Paul Jones, Adam Jones/Justin Chancellor, Vivian Campbell/Jimmy Bain, and Doug Pinnick/Ty Tabor

My picks.....in no particular order....1) Billy Sheehan & Paul Gilbert 2) Paul Gilbert & John Alderete 3) Ritchie Blackmore & Glenn Hughes 4) Al Demeola & Stanley Clarke 5) Tony Iomi & Geezer Butler 6) Billy Sheehan & Steve Vai 7) Steve Howe & Chris Squire
Thanks...kind of biased though lol... I'm a bassist from Buffalo NY I've known Billy since the late 70s. I even filled in with his former band after he left for the big time. Great guy phenomenal bassist to.
Rick Nielsen & Tom Petersson. Both so important to the Cheap Trick sound. Great dynamic between those 2. Sting & Andy Summers. Sting does the main job here, and Andy just compliments and adds to Sting & Copeland busy parts. John Deacon & Brian May. Deacon is the backbone to Queen's music. Deacon can be super simple or super busy depending on what the song needs.
Steve Morse/Dave LaRue. There's almost a complete mind meld between these two. Similarly...and I don't think accidentally since this guitarist was so influenced by Morse....Travis Larson/Jennifer Young. Go watch clips of these 4 musicians playing on stage, and you'll see what I mean. The symmetry is so apparent.
Also....in the guitar instrumental realm, Joe Satriani and Stu Hamm. In prog, of course Geddy and Alex, Steve and Chris....but another Morse influenced musician, John Petrucci, and John Myung have been together for a long time! Great cohesion in that duo!
Seeing a few jazz fusion combos made me think of these two....the late, great Shawn Lane with amazing Swedish bassist Jonas Hellborg. Go listen to their stuff with Jeff Sipe on drums. Phenomenal jam sessions!
Stu Hamm teamed up with Shotgun Messiah's Harry Cody... forming a very unexpected collab, using him in two of his albums back in the early 90's, producing some outstanding music, technical, fusion, rocky, heavy. And regarding the comparison between Cactus and Zepp, you're damn right it's a tough thing to do, mainly 'cause Cactus is much better! Sorry but it's a fkn fact. cheers.
Alvin Lee & Leo Lyons Billy Gibbons & Dusty Hill Rory Gallagher & Gerry McAvoy Paul Gilbert & John Alderete Dave Meniketti & Phil Kennemore Phil Lynott & Scott Gorham Stevie Ray Vaughan & Tommy Shannon Eddie Van Halen & Michael Anthony Gary Moore & Neil Murray Pat McManus & John McManus Reb Beach & Kip Winger Joe Satriani & Stu Hamm
Speaking of Bass/Guitar duos. Mike Dean has announced that he's stepping away from COC, which leaves Woody as the only original member now. I've loved COC since Animosity. I know some people are fans of the Pepper era only, but I've been scratching my brain who I'd like to see step in on bass duties. Woody and Mike pretty much grew up learning to play together.
3 Bands come to mind, which are both predictable for me.. Blue Oyster Cult, Most of the early Years with Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser & Eric Bloom with Joe Bouchard for longetivity! The 3 of them really melded very well together, in all of the albums that they did together! TRIUMPH.. Mike Levine and Rik Emmit did Awesome together, with Drummer Gil Moore as a band for quite a while until Emmit called it quits, as the record company wanted more "Commercial" sounds out of them and $$ Etc.. What a sad Loss losing this Awesome band! YES! Chris Squire found a way to meald with Any guitarist that he recorded with and the Only member to play in every YES album until his passing = He WAS The Heart of YES, as far as I have heard! What a Great loss Chris was! My 3. Kind of predictable.. Oh Yeah, one Runner UP.. = ZZ Top! & Nothing more needs to be said here..
.... .. how do you know the stage is level ? The bass player is drooling out of both sides of his mouth . Haha stupid joke , but funny ... I'm a bass player so I can say it 😊
Obvious pick = Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson . Absolutely great 👍
Two of very best coming together
The O. G. Absolutely 💯 sums it up. Great analysis. Lair !!!! And 💯 true !!!!! 👍💯
I love when a bass player is playing different than what the guitar player is playing, when its done probably it sounds like magic.
Neil Murray and Bernie Marsden from Whitesanke. They worked so well together. They deserve to be mentioned!

Pat and mars
My first thought was randy Rhodes and rudy Sarzo or was it bob daisly on diary of a madman.
Bob Daisley played on Blizzard and Diary
@@LairoftheAlchemist ya I remember thinking it was sarzo because he was on the album liner because of Sharon’s dirty deeds.
Steve Khan & Anthony Jackson

I think, just maybe, there was some heroin in the Cream mix somewhere. Impossible to do again.
