Hearing him speak so well and passionately, hearing him say outright "that's my country"... totally shocked them and you could see their minds working: "well, if he's for America then we're for him, Muslim or Christian either way!"

What shaykh Yasir discussed here was what I understood was the goal of tabligh Jamat too. This is the only way forward and we should all be striving to do.
There are many ways to do da'wah. The best form in my opinion is through your character and building genuine connections with people, not just knocking on doors.

Agreed with some parts of your post. It appears that you are making Islam a set of personal rituals only with no role to play in the governing of people's affairs i.e. no political role. If Abu Bakr, Umar, Usman & Ali had this view about Islam then we would not had a huge Islamic empire (Khilafah) in the past.

I would like to address a simple question to the Sheikh YQ:
Is there ANY scenario where he would consider leaving the U.S. and moving towards a muslim majority country?
Second: Deen over nationality! The identity of believers is defined by Islam and not by nationality

I think sheikh Yasir should just stick to teaching seerah, history and islamic culture. As the sheikh is brilliant at it alhamdulilah. Wrt khilafah, for someone who doesn’t believe it is at the top of his priority list, he talks a lot about it, and he claims the works of a certain khilafah group doesn’t bother him... though he always talks about them.
I would be interested in knowing what classification the countries of the world fall under. If not dar ul kufr ... then what? Would be an interesting library chat inshaAllah.

Looking at the past 50 years, Muslims took steps backwards away from a Khalifa status but look at Israel's progress, they have been advancing towards their ideal (an evil ideal) every year. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Where is the first step? Where is our own economic system, our own educational system...? The best we are doing at the moment is having our own culinary system i.e we can access halal food in Western countries!! We've become very basic people, thinking about basic urge like eating, sex, shelter, visa, very egocentric/personal goals, no societal thinking. Just love of dunya, fear of death. I'm saying 'we' because I'm also involve in this downfall.

Sheikh Dr. Yasir , when I listen to your podcasts or lectures, I find peace and clarity in understanding the world. However, I struggle with concepts like the effort required for Iqamat-e-Deen and political obligations. There's obviously academic truth to these concepts, and youth often feel conflicted about being held accountable on Judgment Day for not doing something about this.
And any youth who is exposed to these concepts, the world starts to feel meaningless, and small things in life dosen't exicte them anymore, as every thing feels insignificant to him. "He thinks he knows the biggest goal that everyone around him doesn't care"
After listening to you, it seems the most important goal is pleasing Allah ( through only tazkiya in this modern world) rather than getting involved in the effort for iqamat e Deen.
Dr. Qadhi, you seem satisfied and content that focusing on handling current problems and modern issues in the current system, without engaging in efforts for eqamat-e-deen is okay, having acknowledged the academic truth about the obligation of this reality.
How do you reconcile this as youths who are exposed to these concepts and see the state of ummah feel uneasy and emotionally turmoil everyday and feel accountable to Allah for not being able to do something about it.
I don't want to look at my question in the angle that it is not pragmatic and practical so that's why we can't do it. As that will not address the psychological and theological effect that has on youth ....
Can youth live the normal lives of tazkiya and dawah with Worldly goals, ignoring all this?

How did the prophet (pbuh) build his credibility? What were the first 40 years of his life like? Did he just start by preaching on a pulpit?
What were the first years of his prophethood like? Did he set up shariah law in mecca?

Respectfully sheikh Yasir, your scholarship either talks about the past or the future. Unfortunately your expertise doesn't explain the current world and given the atrocities inflicted on Muslims and still happening we need scholarship who can guide the ummah. For it is true that the Quran speaks the truth, the book states the Quran explains all things. May Allah guide us all aameen.

Sheikh, OK so you're not against the idea of establishing a Caliphate alhamdillah, but please do not refer to that objective as "day dreaming." Also, we can walk and talk, right? I can work for khilafah for the long term and advocate for Gaza right now and feed the poor and help the youth in preserving their deen.
The WAY people talk about establishing khilafat is what he terms as Daydreaming not the entire idea.
He's more realistic.
He understands world politics, history and all.
If someone were to talk about these in a more realistic way, there would be a better and more optimistic response.
He still has always said that, those who are in this avenue.. good luck to them. But he feels we need more of a spiritual enlightening and United engagement by getting our current realistic priorities right for now.

If each has khayr, which they do if they pray, when will you become more precise and decide which approach is best? There is definitely a best approach, and the aim is to leverage that approach to generalize the benefits. Why act academically if you are not interested in getting ever closer to the truth? Isnt this THE aim of all study?

There's a verse in the Quran that talks about people being created differently, of different nationalities and ethnicities, so we may know one another. The cultural differences are a blessing not a curse. The "Caliphate" objective should be to build strong Muslim communities where we leave. Not control the world.

Salaam Alaikum Doctor. Revert of 21 years here, living in the USA, born in USA, lived many years in S.E. Asia. I get that a Khalifa, is not likely, and not even the best path forward to be from an independent group. Someone who is not associated with a GDP/Country/Army as you said wouldn't stand a chance. I offer this for consideration: Why are the Muslim countries not coming together in a similar fashion to the EU? What would it look like for Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi, Turkiye, Iran, etc.. ALL MUSLIM countries to join forces in a new group "MU" Muslim Union or Muslim Ummah. Still can be part of BRICS etc, but have a MU that represents the Ummah in relation to growing, protecting and teaching the deen. What would that be like:)

Its not in the interest of Muslim countries to unite. People prefer their own autonomy. Nobody will sacrifice their own prosperity and peace for another peoples.
For example, that's why UAE won't give up its diplomatic, military and economic ties with Israel to help Gaza. The UAE has to look after its own security. The UAE fears Iran. As Iran claims parts of the UAE and Iranian proxies have targetted UAE with missiles. Israel is Irans enemy. Therefore 'my enemies enemy is my friend'. So the UAE wants to be Israels friend regardless of what Israel does in Gaza.

At 24:55 the Shaykh was trying to make the point that a Muslim politician will have to say things that will offend the religious Muslim community in order to make compromises with Western political ideology. I don’t agree with that. You don’t need to compromise your Islamic values in order to be a politician in west. LGBTQ rights in America are debated for a reason and as a Muslim there should he no doubt as to whether their rights should be expanded or restricted in society. Again the Shaykh wants Islam to bend in order not to be seen as a threat to the West.

Ya shaikh, the danger comes from implementing your way of thinking in understanding islam, which basically making the reality is a source of building your thoughts and manipulating the Islam suiting it, rather than keeping it a focus to be changed according to the Islamic roles. Separating politician role from the shaikh's roles was not part of muslim way of thinking until about 100 years ago, before that all of the muslim scholars are politicians. I think the western culture has successfully brain washed you! Many books were written by recognized scholars have described all of the details related living in the (darulsalm vs daralkufer), of course after clearly defining each one based on well defined texts (quran and Sunnah). Presenting the Islamic state as either ISIS /Talban way or none is misleading. There is clear and well-defined way in establishing the Islamic state can be taken from understanding the prophet Mohammad's (Serah). May Allah guide us all to his straight path.
