4:12 Great Scotland Yard. It's Apollo 11. Thanks Mate. X
did anyone else notice that during the rocket's countdown, when the technician gets to 5 he skips "4", and so..."5, 3, 2, 1, blast....? Nice addition to the Tin Tin cannon. Thanx DMOA!
Jeffrey Latawiec they took off 1 second early!
I have to assume Herge was inspired to create his Destination Moon/Exploring the Moon books by the widely pre-publicized, hugely popular Oscar-winning 1950 film, DESTINATION MOON, but no one seems to every mention this. The rocket has some similarities, as does some of the interiors, the launch gantry, the suits etc, as well as the general look of the lunar landscapes...to say nothing of the title itself.
@7:00 They forecasted that there would be ice on the moon? Maybe not how its depicted in the books, but there IS ice on the moon! Alas, the documentary makers in 1994 couldn't have known that the presence of ice on the moon would be confirmed in 2009. Hergé got it right! Wow.
Ha ha ha
nICE
It seems that Herge wasn't in error in imagining ice on the moon, as time has shown.
I wonder if he took photos of the interior of his model of the moon ship's cabins and traced them for his backgrounds in DESTINATION MOON. That would be a very logical thing to do. (And, if he did so, I also wonder if those photos are still around somewhere?)
