I will say, I saw the brothers live with no Michael and it was still a great show. I think they had the talent to be successful but were over shadowed by their superstar sibling.
I’m honestly glad that Michael went solo. It was a time when he needed to break free from his Fathers control. But at the same time it wore his body out too much to the point where it killed him.
From GOT TO BE THERE to his last solo song he was meant to be MICHAEL JACKSON.. 🔚 of story...the same way we all meant to be ourselves with no mistake is the same with MJ.
Jermaine could never be MJ. MJ had an otherworldly charisma that connected with everyone. While Jermaine is talented, he never had much of a crossover appeal. Great video from the detail. Long live the king of pop. 🎉
On some level, a lot of people never forgave Jermaine for staying with Motown instead of joining his brothers to Epic. Then to add insult to injury, Motown wasted Jermaine (along with a lot of other Motown artists) instead of building him. Jermaine discovered the DeBarge Family in the 1970s through the group Switch & DeBarge became new Motown stars. Jermaine later produced Whitney Houston's blockbuster debut album in 1985. He had so much talent as a producer & possibly an A&R man. Motown should have backed Jermaine STRONG. If they did, I believe wholeheartedly that Motown would still be Black-owned & Black-run even today. In the end, Jermaine had to leave Motown & try to rekindle the magic with his brothers. But you can't go home again. And there's a giant difference between the music scene in 1975 & 1983. Only 8 years difference but so much had drastically changed in the business as well as the culture in that time span. He's trying to rejoin the Jacksons as Michael is ascending beyond the Jacksons. The Victory Tour was the crossroads & Michael was a confirmed solo star even though he technically never left the group. And the Jackson 5/Jacksons was built a certain way. They all had their roles to play in the band. But what do you do without your bandleader? And the brothers are grown men by then mostly with families of their own. It just wasn't the same. Joe Jackson was right. You get married, you kill the Jackson 5. Michael was still single which allowed women to fantasize about nabbing him for themselves. Randy was still single then & maybe he should have left the group too but it was all over once Janet broke through in 1986. It's also a case of too many Jacksons. The industry had a Jackson quota & they needed one male & one female. Michael was THE male Jackson, Janet became THE female Jackson. The family had too many similarities in style to stand out from each other distinctively so male vs. female would have to do. What would each Jackson's character be as a superstar? What kind of mystique could they conjure up for each Jackson? Randy's a talented multi-instrumentalist but they already got a Prince & he's a fending off Michael himself already. Rebbie's the best female Jackson singer but at heart she's a homemaker doing music as a side gig. She won't play the sexpot like Madonna & the culture has no patience for happy homelife homilies. Where's the edge? Jermaine wants to be the R&B crooner but is he doing the "woo-woo-woo-woo" like Luther Vandross? Is he ready to get raunchy like his counterpart Bobby Brown of New Edition, the modern Jackson 5 descendant? And what about Jackie's new R&B record? Will Jackie & Jermaine get mistaken for each other by the uninformed press? They look a lot alike taking after their mother Katherine. Too many obstacles to overcome & it wasn't all his fault. Motown wasted him but Jermaine also did not have the vision that Michael had. Michael knew they were trying to quarantine Black presence in the industry which is why he sought the crossover. The stakes were higher in the 1980s & Michael prepared for the changes while Jermaine wanted to stay the course. Jermain tried to hard especially, when he knew the masses loved MJ,. We didn't care that they were brothers, we weren't taken Jermain crap! He didn't even give us , what MJ gave, he gave his all and was genuine and heart felt! We felt that Jermain was only thinking of himself and not even the other brothers. They could've kept the Jackson brothers going if they put work into it. They wanted Michael to still carry them and he tired of that and it showed. The brothers got lazy and cried to their mother, to try to keep forcing Michael to carry them because, they knew with MJ meant more money for them and more work for MJ. I'm glad he stood firm because, we received a lifetime of beautiful word that still today, gives us pleasure and excitement! We love you still Michael ❤ 💜!! Just give your dad some errands to keep him busy and out of your hair! # Jaafar, # Jermain # The Jackson family!
i hate to be analytical but the odd thing about your comment is that (even though David Ruffin never said that line in real life, just the movie character) Both Otis and Jermaine outlived the "star" and now everyone is literally coming to see "Otis"
@@dctalk1117no one is coming to see Jermaine. Be for real. MJ been dead for 14yrs and he's still selling out shows not just on Broadway but around the world. The last football world cup, a Brazilian MJ impersonator sold out an MJ show to a crowd of 40,000 PEOPLE! So people are in fact still coming to see MJ even in death
The actor Leon portraying David Ruffin improvised that line in the movie. And it fits in Jermaine's case. Jermaine left the group to stay at Motown. He had decent success, but remained solo. But Michael was always bigger. For the Victory Tour, he sure did jump on Michael's wagon and joined the brothers. Fans paid to see Michael, not Jermaine. And people are coming to see Otis because he's the only one left. The Temptations group he has now are not the guys I grew up listening to. Jackie, Tito and Marlon are still performing, keeping the Jacksons alive. Where's Jermaine? Why isn't he with them?
@@tlhudsonart Yes everyone came to see Michael in the Victory tout and to be honest it should have never happened or at least should have happened later after Michael did a Thriller tour. however Michael was still apart of the Jacksons and only had 3 solo albums so most of his songs would have still been Jacksons songs. As far as Jermaine jumping on his band wagon I see it differently. The brothers, including Michael, wanted Jermaine to rejoin them for years. After the motown 25 reunion the brothers already decided to reunite, and this was before the motown 25 broadcast turned Michael Jackson into the King of Pop and made Thriller the best selling album of all time. So technically Jermaine rejoined his brothers before the Michael-mania of the 80s, but in the end the reunion actually ended up killing his career though

@@for-house-starkExactly. Fans always blamed MJ but he helped them when he did not need to. Mj never wanted to do that Pepsi commercial but they begged him to and that horrible 3rd degree burn accident happened which affected him for life. @vincentguzman7056 yea but lets get serious was more pop also most of the brother's were trying to copy mjs swag the dance moves, and the clothes why not just be himself
To all the people that deny that Jermaine has talent, you try singing Jermaine solo songs by yourself and see if you can out-sing him. You. Not somebody else. You.
Thank you! Mfs need to stop dissing the family. I honestly believe they are all on the same level of talent damn near. They just chose different paths. Michael wanted to world.
Instead of telling folks to outsing him why don't you practice what you preach and do it yourself... Michael Jackson was the best artist God ever made..Jermaine doesn't hold a candle to his brother..Michael could have done well by himself even before off the 🧱 and Thriller..he was the first to go solo and did well with it.
It's simple. Jermaine was getting old. Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson were still young to the pop audience. Jermaine just got too old, not matter what he did, thus he should had focus on diversifying, perform older hits, or just make ballads and make music that he loves. But no matter what he did, he wasn't going to outsell MJ and Janet. Age does matter in the music business.

Its a shame that they weren't making music together by then, i don't get why michael never wanted to be part of it since than. Why wasn't Latoya there with her siblings? If michael wanted to focus on acting, then how do you explain that 3 years later he went back on tour just for charity.
Then how do you explain that the jacksons had one last hit just before they broke up? I'm saying this not you and would you reply to me? I'm just a 13 year old who knew the jacksons since I was 11. michael hated the victory tour and wanted to focus on his albums and its true that he had outgrown on his own brothers and leave since jermaine took over and they held each other back. The last song that went # 4 on the billboard rnb singles chart was nothing compares to you.
The Unity tour was a success though. Obviously Michael wasn't there. Mike was dead. So why would a million people from 2012 to 2020 go see the Jacksons if Jermaine is leading?
Personal feelings don't equate to facts. Jermaine would lead if Michael wasn't available or if it was prompted that 2nd singer was needed. Example "I'll be there" "ABC" "I want you back"

I love the Jackson’s. I always have, and I always will. I grew up with the Jackson’s, and they are number one to me. I love them all so much🔥🔥👏👏🙌🙌🤗🥰🤗🥰💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
I Love Your videos❤❤❤
Thank you!
Mannn can't wait for when this series gets to the Word 2 the Badd part...

I guess Jermain is trying to ride his son Jaafar coat tail with MJ biopic! Just do well young man and we support you. Just give your dad some errands to keep him busy and out of your hair! # Jaafar, # Jermain # The Jackson family!
Jermaine Jackson was corny period but that comment saying his album would be in the discount area by Easter had me dying laughing 🤣🤣
😂😂
Latoya was something else in the 80s. I spent many a night locked in my bathroom, just me and that playboy pictorial of hers
T.oo M.uch I.nformation....Toya is 67 she won't be too impressed by that
The Jackson brothers are not the same without Michael. That much is clear.
They are not the same when any brother is missing. Them without Jermaine was not meshing even Michael said that
@@dctalk1117randy was alr
Another great video though i wish it was a little longer i wanted to see michael's reacting to the diss track
He wanted to go Solo
Who ?
Michael
The attempt to pit this Black family against each other in the media is transparent.
Michael was the frontman of the jackson 5
No sh**t we didn’t know that.
Jermaine doesnt lack talent but he was always a mid level talent. Not bad but not that great either.
Is patetic how jelaous was jermaine of michael and janet, instead of be happy of the succesful of his own family.
Can’t blame Michael for seperating himself from family. His siblings were jealous
Not true
Jermaine was but not the rest
Those albums were written and produced well, don’t understand the hate directed towards Jermaine.
What rivalry?
Jermaine couldn't compete with Michael. No one could.
"Ain't nobody coming to see you Otis" (Jermaine).
i hate to be analytical but the odd thing about your comment is that (even though David Ruffin never said that line in real life, just the movie character) Both Otis and Jermaine outlived the "star" and now everyone is literally coming to see "Otis"
Very interesting. I thought don’t take it personal was about Hazel because Margret was in the picture .
That takes me back to NYC 1989..listening to that song going to school with my first Air Jordans.
Rivalry??? Michael was 3 million times more talented than Jermaine 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 once he left his brother's,there was no more Jackson's.
I know right😂😂there was no competition, he was the IT🤣🤣
2300 jackson street is one of my favorite songs as much as i don’t like jermaines attitude and the things he did that song showed how talented he was
Is it possible we can get an episode regarding the victory tour fiasco with Don king? I would love to learn more about this.
Джермейн всегда завидовал Майклу.
Jackson stret. Eu. Amo. Mj. ❤🎉
Let’s be honest , his brothers was mediocre and couldn’t keep up with Michael.
Absolutely
The only good from Jackson family was Michael. that's it. the rest just rest on Him.
Very good 👍🌹✌love you Michael Jackson king family Jackson 💗💜💝👑💖💕
Man it sucks when people u used to enjoy try to ',keep up with the times" or be a "Hipster " and not only fail but suck and is awkward and sad. I remember my dad was like" warfare the Jackson 5 trying to look and be hip hop?! 😳 now that I'm old in glad my all times faves chose to stay retired or when they came back they changed just enough but stayed themselves that they were 20yrs ago...I honestly thought Slipknot would be like that....😫
I wish michael was more prominent on the 2300 jackson street at least half of the album. Because that album was so good, but it would have better with him singing on half of the tracks
I'm sure MJ did some behind the seen dirt to destroy Jermaine's chance to break out. The industry broke that family apart.
More like Jermaine ruined his own career with jealousy, womanizing, and lacking the drive to be a true solo star.
FALSE! Not even Jermaine or any jackson has ever claimed MJ destroyed their chance for success. Drop this excuse
@@for-house-starkExactly. Fans always blamed MJ but he helped them when he did not need to. Mj never wanted to do that Pepsi commercial but they begged him to and that horrible 3rd degree burn accident happened which affected him for life. They also begged him to do the Victory tour when he should have done the Thriller Tour instead. He decided that he had enough and I do not blame him for that.
Nao existe rivalidade nenhuma mj e o maior artista de todos os tempos mj king
Mj mito genio lenda king o maior de todos os tempos ❤
Jermaine needed a genre that suited his voice he was trying to do pop like michael and his voice wasnt meant for pop.
Much of JJ music was RnB though
@vincentguzman7056 yea but lets get serious was more pop also most of the brother's were trying to copy mjs swag the dance moves, and the clothes why not just be himself
I don't Blame Michael
Wow, Tito could dance
To all the people that deny that Jermaine has talent, you try singing Jermaine solo songs by yourself and see if you can out-sing him.
You. Not somebody else. You.
Thank you! Mfs need to stop dissing the family. I honestly believe they are all on the same level of talent damn near. They just chose different paths. Michael wanted to world.
@@biingolewis7824 Michael wanted the 🌎?! WTH are you crying about
Instead of telling folks to outsing him why don't you practice what you preach and do it yourself... Michael Jackson was the best artist God ever made..Jermaine doesn't hold a candle to his brother..Michael could have done well by himself even before off the 🧱 and Thriller..he was the first to go solo and did well with it.
jackson is not same with out michael he made that group
That's Definitely a no brainer
The group was formed before Michael joined, but his presence obviously added a lot
Michael. Ontem. Hoje. E. Sempre🎉

Michael jackson was destined to be Michael Jackson. Michael was gonna be Michael Jackson regardless..... jermaine was one of the background singers for Michael. Idc wat nobody says.. plus jermaine Jackson didnt know how to write songs. Michael jackson knew how to write songs ..... CATCHY ONES!😂 plus You cant compete against sumone who was destined to be who they where no matter what you DO!!
But the album went PLATINUM that’s all it matters and the label did a poor job marketing the album
♥♥♥
Without Mike, it just didn't seem like a real Jackson album. To be honest, Victory had Mike and that didn't seem like a real Jackson album either.
Nada haver briga com irmaos so o jermanie que parecia ter inveja do. Michael
Lets be real without Joe Katherine Janet and *Michael* the Jacksons wouldn't be as iconic and Jermaine is trying to hold on to his siblings power, always mentioning MJ to get attention to this day. You can tell Jermaine loved MJ but he was also jealous even more
The word "sought" is pronounced "sot," rhyming with "knot"
Jermaine is talented . But not as talented as Michael
Its a shame that they weren't making music together by then, i don't get why michael never wanted to be part of it since than. Why wasn't Latoya there with her siblings? If michael wanted to focus on acting, then how do you explain that 3 years later he went back on tour just for charity.
Reason for Latoya's absence during that time, was because she was being brainwashed and abused by her dick of a husband Jack Gordon.
Everything has its limit. Michael had outgrown the Jackson's. He needed to leave them and grow. Together, they held each other back, not grow
Jermaine is a hater button…

Jermaine had a plan for the jacksons
Ain’t nobody come to see you Jermaine 🤣🤣🤣
The Unity tour was a success though. Obviously Michael wasn't there. Mike was dead. So why would a million people from 2012 to 2020 go see the Jacksons if Jermaine is leading?
Mj não tinha rival e o maior
SE VINIERON A BAJO lOS HERMANOS, Y SIEMPRE ENVIDIARON A MJ. MALOS HERMANOS
Jermaine 🤔🤭🤣
Come on. Really. Jermaine the no charisma Second string Jackson. The lead singer. LOL.
Personal feelings don't equate to facts. Jermaine would lead if Michael wasn't available or if it was prompted that 2nd singer was needed. Example "I'll be there" "ABC" "I want you back"
Siete fissati con questa rivalità tra i fratelli???? Jermaine ha prodotto artisti di successo come Whitney Houston e i De Barge . La loro carriera è bellissima senza i vostri commenti inutili
