    This takes me back to my grandma's tomato jam. She used only tomatoes and ,as southern law dictates, she always served with homemade biscuits.

    Yum, Linda! I made a tomato jam a few years ago and it was 'ok' but yours sounds spectacular. When I made salsa a few days ago the tomato skins and cores were sitting in a bowl (I normally wait till there is a huge amount of them and make 'free tomato sauce' out of them) and since the salsa seemed thin I put the skins in the Vitamix along with some of the cooking liquid and blitzed them smooth and added to the salsa. That is another way to get all the nutrition from the whole tomato in case people really dislike the idea of skins in their jam. Though, after cooking 3 1/2 hours I can't see there would even be any to notice! Thank you for taking the time to film your recipe to share, you are awesome!

    I’ve done one batch man was it good. I have a batch going right now with yellow tomatoes. I did the lemon juice and added a tablespoon of citric acid powder just incase. As the yellow will probably be mine this time I used seeds and all on the pepper lol

    I used your ingredients to make jam as a side dish. I only made two pints, so I didn't need to can them. I took one to a pot luck and had to tell a few people where I got the recipe. Thank you so much.

    I love your channel Linda! I made this yesterday. It is the first thing I have ever canned. Your instruction is wonderful and I appreciate it so much! The jam is wonderful. I am eating it now and it reminded me I needed to write you a thank you note! The jam is so delicious. I made 12 jars and am more than half done with one jar already! I ate it on a sandwich this afternoon and with goat cheese on crackers this evening as a snack. Great recipe Linda! Thank you :)

    How funny- I am watching this while I have a batch of my tomato jam going on the stove. For those skeptical, I describe it as a grown up ketchup. I think people hear jam and think peanut butter or pancakes. When I explain you can use it more like a ketchup I think people seem to grasp it better.

    There is a restaurant here called “Ram.” At this restaurant, there was this chicken sandwich that featured Tomato Jam. I was nervous because I could not understand why they would add tomato jam to it. I had never heard of it before either. I ordered the sandwich and was in INSTANT love with it from then on. I would frequent Ram just get that sandwich and would ask for extra tomato jam on the side. That was 9 years ago. I know that what you’re tasting is so amazing. I made some Sweet Chili Pepper Jam about 6 months ago and it was so delicious. I cannot wait to try your recipe. You make everything look delicious! 😍

    Just letting you know that I am inspired by you to try this jam of yours with my excess tomatoes, now 6 years from the time you posted this! I am going to try it with a sugar substitute (sucralose). I will add 1/2 teaspoon molasses per cup of sweetener to try to bring in that brown sugar taste. I will let you know how it turns out and if it it thickens or not.

      @@neppieb for anyone reading this now who doesnt know…..its the seeds and membranes in the peppers that have the heat. Thats why you leave em if you want heat and remove if you want the flavor without the heat.

    What altitude are you at? I purchased an electric pressure canner and the instructions say that I cannot use it as I am over 2000 ft. It is a little frustrating.

    • @intuit5767
      @intuit5767 6 років тому

      This jam doesn't need to be pressure canned...just the hot water bath method.
      And I would invest in a Presto pressure canner...perfect for any altitude.
