There has been tension in the community of survivors for a thousand years because Demoman did something stupid during a time of high stress. After wandering alone for the entire millennium, a seemingly random series of events causes him to return to the community and he finally explains he has no real excuse for his actions. He doesn't even remember why he antagonized Sniper; he was too drunk. Sniper finally had the chance for revenge, but upon learning the feud is based on nothing of substance he decides to leave the past in the past and move towards a more hopeful future, represented here by the city on the horizon. The hopeful ending may seem dampened by the explosion of Sentry Buster, but I believe that is actually a metaphor for the catharsis felt by the community. At the same time as the Demoman - Sniper feud is so suddenly ended, Spy worked up the courage to propose to Sentry Buster. The explosion is symbolic of the sudden destruction of the survivor's old, unhappier way of life. It may be coincidence, but their chance at immortality was heralded by an explosion, so it seems fitting their chance at a happier eternity should be, too.

Hence, Sniper has been dead for the past 10,000 years, which explains how he seemed to have lived that long. Different dead creatures end up there too, such as the disembodied head of the Bowler Scout. Demo was actually killed by that wheel trap, and so his arrival in Heaven is moments after. The apparent dinginess of the whole place, apart from the comic reversal between Heaven and Hell taking place, seems to do with the hot dog stand itself. I think that this is a holdover on the way to the real afterlife, which cannot be passed until one has let go of their earthly attachments. In Sniper's case, it was hot dogs; specifically that last hot dog he was not able to eat before being murdered by Demo. He not only blames Demo for his death, but also resents him for robbing him of that last moment of normality before the apocalypse. So long as Sniper remains tied to that lost hot dog, he is condemned to eat hot dogs in this limbo for all eternity, held back from the grander foods which await him. This bond is of course reinforced by the hot dog epaulets they both wear. It's actually rather poetic.
When demo says "Oi! Get off my fridge!" he wasn't kidding around, that diner has a family photo of Tavish and his parents hanging on the wall, so he might be the inheritant owner.
So in the course of 1,000 years, Spy evolved into a reptile, Medic evolved into whatever that terrifying abomination is, Scout evolved into something way less terrifying, but still uncanny, and Engie grew hair
The fact that sniper's flashback begins in his eye and ends in demo's is a really cool detail. It really helps to link the characters by a shared memory. Very nice storytelling touch that i didn't expect to discover in a gmod video.

They vocalize through high pitched squeaks, which are easily detected, this is a main cause of their predation. another notable aspect is their medium sized wings, which in certain circumstances can provide a small amount of lift for a short time. Medic: Our first predator, this organism stalks around a strict territory, searching for prey. they do this by using two large feathery organs near where an eyebrow would be. These organs produce a clicking noise, due to the fact that they operate off of echolocation, their eyes can only detect light and darkness, effectively blinding them in the color spectrum. Once they do come upon prey ( usually being scouts) they will begin waving around their arms, which are colored a blaringly bright red ( or in rare cases blue.) mainly because in this new world, organisms seem to be attracted to color. Details I love about this video 1. The spy not eating the hotdog as it is revealed to be a spider that would use a disguise to trick animals like the spy to try to eat it and then be killed by it 2. Heaven and hells roles being swapped 3. The demoman goes to heaven, the afterlife as characters like the bird scout appearing with the sniper, suggesting he died and that he and all the others were bad people and the pyro was a good soul

In all honesty I love the setting and how the characters look. Every single one has a distinct look to them & most of their outfits tell something about them, and it fits perfectly within the world in this video. never thought i'd say that about a gmod video lol

I never recognized this before, but can we just appreciate how good the sound design is in these videos?? Like, with subtle fabric movements and wind noises, snappy sound effects at appropriate times, and fitting atmosphere for every scene, it's all beautiful when you really notice it all. Figuring out the perfect timing for each sound must be crazy, these videos just continue to impress me more every time I watch them.
I think the primitive gmod gets people to be more creative and really pay attention to detail. Without any sound gmod would be bland so I assume gmod video makers really focus on sound design

Eltorro, I dont think you get enough credit for how natural your characters' motion is. Sure you have funny bits where a character is sliding across the floor, but when the motion is supposed to be natural, it's executed perfectly. For example, the sniper knocking over his drink because he's in a rush. It's such a small detail, but it adds so much to every video. Keep doing what you're doing you legend.

If you take a closer look at that scene, you'll notice that just as it switches back to normal again, sniper actually transitions from a floppy armed state to his "opening car door" state very naturally. Eltorro is an absolute legend.

Details I love about this video
1. The spy not eating the hotdog as it is revealed to be a spider that would use a disguise to trick animals like the spy to try to eat it and then be killed by it
2. Heaven and hells roles being swapped
3. The demoman goes to heaven, the afterlife as characters like the bird scout appearing with the sniper, suggesting he died and that he and all the others were bad people and the pyro was a good soul
Or maybe the “heaven” is actually purgatory, and the city that snipers drives off to is the actual heaven

In all honesty I love the setting and how the characters look. Every single one has a distinct look to them & most of their outfits tell something about them, and it fits perfectly within the world in this video.

Coming back to this 2 years later, it’s still one of my favorite videos you’ve done. I think it was also the turning point where your animations went from great to fantastic!
I never recognized this before, but can we just appreciate how good the sound design is in these videos?? Like, with subtle fabric movements and wind noises, snappy sound effects at appropriate times, and fitting atmosphere for every scene, it's all beautiful when you really notice it all. Figuring out the perfect timing for each sound must be crazy, these videos just continue to impress me more every time I watch them.

I think the primitive gmod gets people to be more creative and really pay attention to detail. Without any sound gmod would be bland so I assume gmod video makers really focus on sound design

Eltorro, I dont think you get enough credit for how natural your characters' motion is. Sure you have funny bits where a character is sliding across the floor, but when the motion is supposed to be natural, it's executed perfectly. For example, the sniper knocking over his drink because he's in a rush. It's such a small detail, but it adds so much to every video. Keep doing what you're doing you legend.

I do agree with you, tho. This man know how to do subtle details in character animations better than Bethesda could ever accomplish. All while using an old animation software that probably take him a couple of years just to do it, even with the sum of his experience. He truly has come a long way since he started doing these.
