I maintain the retheme for Bubbleworks that Imperial Leather slapped on became the absolute worst retheme to a classic dark ride. Especially given some of the original theming got slapped over damaging it with new theming without telling the staff who originally worked on it. Will happily take that Gruffalo retheme anyday as it least doesn’t look like a graveyard in a warehouse.
I mean if they were to bring it back id want the original don’t worry 😭. All the merch is based off of the fizzy bubbles not the imperial leather. I do really like Gruffalo though for sure! But I know a lot of people miss bubbleworks

I love Chessington coz it's literally a zoo and a theme park in one, two of my favourite types of days out. That being said I miss the original Bubbleworks so much though, I'm so glad I got to ride it when I was a child.

It's in Tory Land. That's why at least from my perspective. Chessy really has so much potential, especially considering in the early days it was THE THEME park in the UK, I hope one day Merlin recaptures that feel. Great video as well! 👏

@@Q4Coasters understandable. but like point is, there are other issues at play than that of which parties tend to win elections in the area. For example, target demographics of the parks themselves. Both of these parks (and Legoland) are rather close to each other, and all owned by Merlin - and Merlin is trying to make each park cater to somewhat different demographics, which impacts what they can do in each park. Legoland caters more towards a younger demographic, Thorpe Park caters more towards an older demographic, and Chessington is kinda stuck in the middle - generally aiming at families with pre-teen children who are probably a little too old for Legoland but not quite up for Thorpe Park. And this state of being in an awkward middle ground just limits what they can shoehorn in. Anywho, I would argue that Chessington still has the unique selling points of having the zoo, and being within TFL zone 6 (unlike Legoland or Thorpe Park) making getting there from London a little bit less inconvenient than Legoland/Thorpe Park if you don't drive.
i really like chessington tbh, when i was like 5 i went there and it absolutely hauled down with rain the whole day and we had to leave early, and on my revisit the operations were basically crawling, waited for like 25 minutes for sea storm out of all rides, either way, chessington good park 👍👍

My biggest gripe with Chessington this year is that they were charging £17.50 for some chicken chow mein. That aside, I loved Chessington growning up in the 90s. I miss the vibe the park had when it had the old vampire trains, terror tomb, dragon falls and the monorail. It's a great park but feels neglected in recent years. It's under appreciated though and I've really enjoyed my time there this season.. but saying all this, I only really go back for Vampire!

To do with the food its been like that at all parks but they did have a £15 taster where you got 2 meals, a drink and a bubble-waffle ice cream it was actually really nice! Apart from the bubble tea 😭. That was in fact not nice I really hope that the world of jumanji is a sign for the future. It would be great to see more love and care for things like that. Especially in the theming department. I wish I got to see it as Transylvania still crying over that haha. Vampire is such a great coaster and a classic. Still sits as my top 6th favourite coaster idek why it’s just so unqiue :)
Yes all about the weight haha but it does some seriously good spins! I love the layout the main 3 coasters are all some of the best family coasters out there imo
its an absolute classic! definitely make time for Dragons Fury and Mandrill too :D I also enjoy Tiger Rock, Croc drop (obviously I'm a crocodile), I think tomb blaster is worth having a look at! The Gruffalo is still fun as well even if it is a shadow of what it used to be
chessington is one of my favorites I love the animals there, I feel it is better experience than Thorpe park for all the family, nothing is too scary for young kids and there is some good thrills for older audiences, Thorpes good but for children theres nothing to do, and Legoland is really not for adults, I love how chessington is for everyone, my mom hates rides but she did go on the grufflo ride which shows that some rides can be for everyone, I love the wide variety of rides.
Of course! its my personal favourite a long side Alton Towers because of the themed experience. It was also the park that got me being a nerd so I have a soft spot for it

Before watching the video I'll be around London for a week in the end of September. I'm going to thorpe park for 2 days and checked Chessington's website to see if it's worth going there too. I was not convinced it's worth my time as a single traveler. Time to see if this video does. Update: nope, but I kind of want to stay at their hotel.

Its still got a freaky section at the end with like 4 animals in mud joined together I think its a monster like in the story! Definitely watch a pov gahaha. Also the mirrors you were talking about are still in there :)

Chessington was my first love, I wish it got more attention! My parents just recently revealed to me that they used to drive around for an hour to the park despite us living less than a 10 minute walk away. They thought if I knew how close we were I would demand to go every day. Honestly, they were right.

I do think cheesington is actually a really nice theme park but there are definitely flaws, but definitely it's a park that has a good balance between going from family rides to "big" rides

There's a risk that Paultons eclipses Chessington? It has already happened. Paultons eclipses Chessington in every single way, except for (perhaps) the thrill element as although Storm Chaser happily matches up to Dragon's Fury there isn't a Mandrill equivalent at Paultons yet - but I think we're all aware that that will be changing in 2026. I just don't see Chessington keeping up with them now, especially while Merlin are happy to see absolutely superb family rides like Scoprion Express rot away in the corner.
I would disagree! Dragons fury is leagues better than storm chaser in all aspects except theming and capacity! It's a great family park but I still prefer Chessington. It's fine if you think otherwise but it's all opinions. The issues are just common merlin issues I never said it was perfect it's just my personal favourite. Paulton's is also more expensive to visit, their annual passes are also ridiculously priced at 160 for the basic off peak one, ticket prices are also higher than merlin ones and they don't offer discounts to students or blue light. Paulton's is fun don't get me wrong and they have lots of space and little to no restrictions with what they can do but its just very expensive and very out of the way.

@@RubricCoder lap bars are totally fine lots of rides have them, its the like rmc style restraints that wouldn’t be allowed here. Its like when you go to a different countries theme park they have different restrictions so rides will have different restraints. In the UK the fire and ice drop towers have a lap bar but it comes over the top of you whereas in legoland Billund its legit just a bar 😭

@@Q4Coasters Excellent! I love Chessington as well. It was my nearest park growing up, and Vampire is what made me fall in love with Theme Parks. Objectively I know there are dozens of better coasters out there, but just because of the emotional attachment Vampire will always be in my top 5 or 10!

@@RubricCoder lap bars are totally fine lots of rides have them, its the like rmc style restraints that wouldn’t be allowed here.
Its like when you go to a different countries theme park they have different restrictions so rides will have different restraints. In the UK the fire and ice drop towers have a lap bar but it comes over the top of you whereas in legoland Billund its legit just a bar 😭
I think its a mix of the building materials used to make the track and the restraints. But I’m not 100% sure :3
@@Q4Coasters I just did some research turns out it’s not that and they are fine to build in the uk it’s just mostly due to planning restrictions around most uk parks that prevent them

Sadly chessington has plans to completely revamp wild Asia and only leave Kobra. So salute 4 jungle bus Tuk Tuk and monkey swinger (none for temple of mayhem cus it’s sh- and gave me ptsd as a child 😊) 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 I’m praying they don’t get perms on it 😢
