Very good & educational. Where did you learn to do this?
I just watched a few of Robert Miller DVM videos. & his imprinting video. You are doing the same things but seem more gentle. Wish you had more videos like this & some follow ups.
Noticed no videos have been posted for several yrs

I start imprinting as soon as the baby comes out. Then I have amniotic fluid on me and I smell like the baby, so the mare accepts me. Even strange mares have accepted me. I have also noticed that the mares seem to become protective of me, as well as of their baby. It’s a beautiful thing.

You are a total selfish idiot to do that. You are showing incredible ignorance. Horses are the best teachers of horses.

And yes, I have trained wild mustangs, but they start out terrified that humans are bad and you have to teach them that you won’t hurt them. It’s a longer process and they have to “unlearn” their fear of humans, clippers, fly spray, whatever. A baby that has been properly imprint trained doesn’t fear any of that and if you introduce something new, they’re more likely to be curious and unafraid, because they have always known humans to be kind and trustworthy.

    When can imprinting begin?

  • @charesepelham7682
    @charesepelham7682 3 роки тому +3

No, imprinting may not be “necessary,” but it’s helpful. I imprint my babies. I had one baby from an outside mare who had not had rotavirus vaccine while in foal. I imprinted the filly. At two days old, She was leading calmly and happily. She never felt fear. Never knew a “fight.” It was all done very easily and quietly. Later she came down with rotavirus and needed to go to university vet hospital. Her dam had not been trained to load well. Neither had the filly, but because I had imprinted her, taught her to lead and she trusted me, I led her right into the trailer and her dam followed easily. She was very easy for the team to work with at hospital. Her imprint training helped save her life. She wasn’t fighting and afraid of the strangers in the team. She thought all humans were good and kind and accepted everything. She continues to think that. She’s never known harshness, anger, nor fear of humans. I pray she never does!

For those who say imprinting a foal is bad, well... here's a news flash for ya - yearlings and adult horses get imprinted, too. Foals, yearlings, and adult horses need to know humans aren't scary. Especially, at an early age.
I don't have horses, but when I used to live with my mom and sister, we have three cats. The oldest one likes his belly to be rubbed. Why? Because we taught him to trust us. It's the same with horses. Petting, rubbing, and stroking builds trust. You're also looking for areas that are sensitive, that way you can rub on those sensitive areas.
I like the idea of imprinting horses. It builds trust and bonding, getting them uses to human contact.

Fowmaks learn from mom you are ok no imprinting needed

The baby accepts all that happens because it’s totally new! It becomes “normal” to the baby to be handled by humans. You do need to repeat each action to make sure the baby totally accepts it and the baby will always remember and not be afraid. My babies become grown horses that are lovely to work with

Imprinting is NOT necessary, it's stupid and pointless! If imprinting is needed so much, why in the world can people successfully train and ride a mustang that was born in the wild with absolutely no human contact??? The foal probably thought he was pinned down by a couple of apes preparing to eat him.

Leave Mom and baby ALONE!!! Let them BOND... You don't need to imprint your human crap on them... You only risk the mother rejecting them!!

@Homestuck Lover1013 Why would you make his life scarier later? Do you have horses? Have you raised or trained a horse? Because I can tell you it’s so much easier on everyone if you imprint that young. And if the mare try’s to reject the foal being around to supervise if the best option.

@@jamieleasure9067 have u ever raised a horse in a natural way…I have Arabic ox stallion and he is like a baby next to children he is very calm
And he is born in a big area where the horses live free and have contact to humans only when they prefers. And I think touching the anus and thrill them with machines is not a good way. And I bet u only have a forced bond to your horse .

@jamieleasure9067 breeder of 20 years here. Imprinting foals leads to rude pushy individuals in later life. It also interferes with the bond between mare and foal, just look here at this video how the mare ends up in the background while they molest her baby, eventually not even ending up that interested. interested
