This is best review and presentation on UA-cam of these speakers you convinced me to go out and buy these. You explain things here perfect and very professional for me and others to understand what this product is in more detail. Thank You and keep up great videos.
Did Purchase this system and was impressed with its sound quality and deep low end with the subs, although I was not too happy with the volume at about 90% starts to constantly clip , indicated on the app I downloaded with my android phone to monitor the speakers behavior, would warn me to reduce my volume or suffer damage to my system. great for indoor events, but would warn you if you want volume for outside events for more than 100 people can be disappointing. If this had a higher wattage, this would definitely be my top choice. Other than that, its a great sounding and balanced speaker system with great features with Bluetooth and onboard amplifier selections.
Hi. Is it clipping(Distortion) that u can actually hear. If its just the app telling you that. Dont worry about it. Id be more concerned about the Amps Temp considering its convection cooling?? No Fans. Why do they do this. Even Class D amps need Air???
Really good in-depth review!! Great Job. Question, have you messed with the music vs club presets? Also, have you tried messing with the Sub level, cranking it up. That part intrigues me!
Hey Jeremy, please can you confirm how the Mix Out feature works. Your description is different to the manual. Does it split Input 1&2 to L&R so you can send just Input 2 (which is R) to a second column making a stereo setup? The manual says it only splits L&R of Input 3 (aux) which would mean that both Input 1 & Input 2 would be sent to a second column. Did you ever make a video on the Mix Out feature? Thanks in advance.
I find when raising the volume up to much trying to push larger venues they will start to mash the music I know they good for 150 people or less but what is best setting recommended to get just a little more with out mashing music, also what is best setting for frequency
Hi excuse my ignorance please. What is the "THRU" hole meant for if the "Mix out" is meant for connections to another set? sorry am just new to this but I am ordering a set for personal use at home. It is the Bluetooth feature to sold the EV 50 for me.
Hi Jerry, thanks fir the vid., great job! I just checked out the Evolve 50 at the Cosmo Music Festival north of Toronto. How do you think it would handle a live band? Do you think 1 EV 50 would have enough for 200 people audience? Its a tough question, so many variables, but you have so much experience with crowds. .. Thank you, and all the best ! Mark🥁
I don't know if 1 unit would be enough for band purposes. Bands need limiters and compression and they usually want to be a little louder. I would recommend 2 but yes it depends on what type of band you are doing as well.
Approximately how large of a room would you say this could handle? Some people might ask how many people would you recommend this system for? Thank you for sharing. One love!
djjermusic Thank you so much for your prompt response. I really hate to ask this however I wonder if you had to compare this to something what would it be? In your professional opinion of course. Sorry to bother and thanks again my friend.
Another great question. I don't know if I can really compare it to anything. EV did their homework and thought of esthetics without sacrificing sound quality. Everyone is asking about the EVOX 8 comparison so I am guessing that maybe the closest thing but to me this is in a league of its own right now. I did look at the EVOX 8 and listened to it this last week and I am not a fan of the look and I would say this might be close in sound quality but missing some areas in the over all sound compared to the Evolve 50.
IMHO: The Sub with this goes up to 200H which is a little high and when you start cranking it for dance stuff punches those low mids around 180-200 a bit much. If you add a real sub to one of these and keep the Evolve sub -2 to -4 you will notice a huge difference in coverage and sound quality.
Thank you for your thorough review of these speakers. These and the ETX 35P are on my radar. However, I want to add the dbx Driverack PA to the equation to help with equalization of different venues. Your opinion?
I think the days of the driverack are over. I ha e two if you would like to but one ;). With the dsp built into all of the EV speakers now you can make the minor adjustments needed right on site.
Very cool video. I am in love with this baby. I just sold my L1s. I wasn't getting what I need spl wise, not great. How many people does a pair of these cover in a wedding environment, and what's the price in the US. I'm in South Africa, so I would love a pair. Thanks for the update. All the best.
Excellent review! How does this compare to Yamaha Stagepass 1K? I like that the Yamaha has built in reverb and an extra XLR mic channel which the EV doesn't have. Both are rated at 1000 watts and are a similar size with 12" sub. They're also available for a similar price in Australia. I'm looking at one or two of either the Revolve 50 or Stagepass 1K for a small folk band set up without drums. I'd be selling my HK Audio Lucas Impact and Mackie SRM350s to finance the new system? I'm very happy with my current PA but want something that's more compact and lighter to carry. Hence why one or two of these compact line array systems are of interest to me. Thanks so much for your advice and keep up the great work.
Hi there, Is there any way to adjust the height of the pole or the top(Mid/high) speaker itself to give more height to the Mid-Highs? I've been looking at buying an RCF Evox 8 which can obviously be adjusted in this way. But this EV system is interesting me now too. I know you're not a fan of the aesthetics of the RCF Evox 8, but aesthetics aside how does the EV Evolve 50 compare to an RCF Evox 8 in Sound in your opinion? cheers.
Seems really odd they went through the trouble of providing phantom power for high end microphones and there are no effects. No reverb at all for vocals. That makes no sense! They should have had a couple of effects for vocal performance. So much for a all in one mixer.
You can always run your Mixer with FX to the Evolve. Even a personal Mixer w/FX. I get what you're saying tho. I just really like the power and control but would never run a Mic directly to the Evolve. Keep on keepin' on!!!
I'm a vocalist and I just sing to tracks. I use the TC Helicon Perform V with a foot pedal with it and the sound is sweet. I don't need a mixer at all. I sing a lot at an American Legion and this unit simply has no rival for that particular venue because it is only about 40 feet wide but over 100 feet deep and everyone says my system is the only one they can hear as clearly in the back as they can close to the stage. Other systems put out enough SPL to cover the back of the room, but because of the Column array, the sound carries effortlessly and much more clearly that with conventional speakers. And it sounds awesome in every venue I have used it in so far. By far the best PA system I have ever used.
it's a shame you didn't hear or run the BOSE as intended with the T1. It makes an insane difference when using the processing. I for one, actually didn't care for the BOSE sound without using the T1. It was way too midrange present and the lows and highs sounded weak, but with the T1, it was night and day. I have never heard a system sound so different from processing.
First to comment,,, Therefore I get a spanking brand new set of Ev's Evolve 50's Thank you!! ThankYou!! I can see where the future is going,,, Glad to see someone is creating more complete designs, nice video if I were you I'd call some friends tell them its a beach party audition ask them to bring some pizza and drinks, bring the sound to the the max and ask their opinion (before and after alcohol consumption) again nice vid,,,,
Would it be a good idea to use these in cardioid setting? Having 4 subs and then turn 2 subs around and putting delay on those subs that are flipped around?
Hey Jeremy, quick question, I know the Evolve 50 only has two input channels. Is it possible top plug a 6-8 channel mixing board into it for additional instrumentation? Nice PA system for singer and acoustic guitar but I may want to have another singer and another acoustic guitar in which case I would need 4 channels. And what about additional equalization? Can an equalization rack mount and compressor rack mount be plugged into this as well? Ira
Ira Sherman thanks for asking. There are actually 3 channels. For sure you can plug in an external mixer to add additional channels. For the fx I would recommend using the ones on your board for full control on each individual instrument or vocal. Does that help?
Yes, thanks. I've been playing guitar all my life and bass for the past 18 years. Been in rock, country, wedding, dance bands all my life. Now thinking of laying back and going solo. Just vocals and acoustic guitar. But wanted to know if I could add Mixing board (additional channels) to the Evolve 50 in case I wanted to add a second vocalist for harmony or add another instrument(keyboards, bass....). I am not really into the pre-recorded fake drums or other pre-recorded instruments as many do today,(I like it real). Showing my age. LOL Although I've heard the vocal harmonizer device and that is kinda cool if you are a solo act and want to add backup vocals during the chorus of a song. I tried the Evolve 50, JBL(compatible to the Evolve 50) and the little Bose S1 Pro and my ears tell me the EV 50 is the best in sound quality and power!! Thanks for your knowledge. I'll probably be back sometime soon asking you more questions I may have. Ira
I would like to see some kind of foot control to, if nothing else, turn on and off the delay effect and perhaps increase or mute reverb. I'm a singing guitarist and when I speak between tunes, I don't want vocal effects in the mix. Yet, when I sing, I would like them. I wouldn't want to have a cell phone on stage to make those adjustments (just looks bad). Thoughts???
You can't control Reverb on this unit. I would say since you have different performers and may need to adjust eq on the fly I would recommend using a board that would also have your FX in it. Does that help?
Hey I was in a store checking out the Evolve 50, I had my iPhone plugged directly into the PA. The LIMIT light kept coming on pretty early going up through the volume. I had the Master volume set at 0dB and turned the gain up on the channel on the PA. The level bar only made it to just below half way up before the LIMIT light came on and the volume wasn’t that loud. So my question is what is the proper source input level to set at such as iPhone, iPad, computer, etc., and how do you get a louder sound out of these cause I’m sure they can go much louder than what I heard them at.
Great question and this comes up all the time. Search for my Gain levels video and it will solve the problem. There are many issues you could be running into even before it gets to the speaker such as bad audio files, compressions, and just the start and end point of the audio. Check out the video and it should help.
One thing I havent seen a review talk about is if it has a plate reverb on it? Im a singer and if its dry vocals id still have to use my rack for using my Quadraverb.
Hi Jeremy, I have a home theater system and I want to utilize the surround speakers along with the evolve. How do I send my receiver signal to the Evolve? I try the line out from the receiver to the evolve but it doesn't work. Thanks for your help!
Great review. How much? How powerful? I run a small system with a Yamaha Stagepas 600i with 2 DXS12 subs. Would the Evolve 50's have more or less power and bass?
You have DPS settings plus you have a way more convenient set up. These have been shown to handle up to 250 people easily with fantastic sound. Not to mention no speaker cables.
Do not buy into all this hype. Stick with your yamaha rig, those dxs 12 subs are fucking monsters and will kill those ev. subs. Every time a new product is launched, they make you feel the rig you bought from them a couple of years earlier , which was the mutts nuts, now sounds shit!! Nexo and yamaha make some of the best rigs in the world!
I run a QSC KW181 with 1 Evolve 50 in a med sized venue with a live band and have no problem filling most restaurant style/ dance and bar gigs were people want to socialize. I have integrated a powered QSC on the other side of stage without a problem. Plays well with others. Suggest that you if you add a sub. keep the EV Evolve next to the add on sub to avoid phase issues.
I run a pioneer DJ SZ with wireless mics in the back of them.. Do you think they will clip out ? I also do ALOT of sweet 1 parties how is the low end,?
Parties On Point entertainment low end is really good for it's size. Now it isn't an 18" sub but still very impressive. For the clipping it would really come down to how you use the gain structure on your system. If done right no problem you should be fine.
Dude i love for this Video...These guys buy these speakers and plug and play...They don't play with the settings..then say it's trash Dj's look and learn....lol GOOD SHIT MANG!!!
If you are up on a stage and don't need the tower to be that high, does the tower itself plug right into the unit or do you still need to plug it into the support beam to get audio
Sounds Great Entertainment great question. You will always need the power stick. If you look at the degree angle towards the bottom of the speaker it aims more downwards to help with that. Now if they are right next to the system they are probably only gonna hear sub anyways so plan your layout accordingly so everyone gets full audio from the highs
That's good because I have the JBL EON ONE and they have two support beams and the main speaker can actually be plugged directly into the unit without the support beams, but like you said, the EV aims more down which would be a good thing
how much? what the price, is it affordable love EV but it needs to make sense to me at purchasing. like what the primary application . if tis multiple application and the price is more than say a K12 and K sub combo. thanks in advance
kevin Mitchell I know they list is around $1599 and dealers are launching some really aggressive pricing right now. Sounds like first shipment might already be sold out.
We typically have 2, one on each side of the dance floor. Depending how the room is, if it's wide we will usually add one more to the far side. For actual guest size that is going to vary depending on positioning. We can accommodate around 300 on the average but with good gain structure you can exceed that.
John Dixon well it's a 15" horn compared to stacked 3" horns. Yours are going to be a fuller sound because you have more spl with a larger speaker. It's hard to compare a column to a full cabinet speaker. I hope that helps.
Great question. Yes, we have ran it with a guitar(electric and acoustic) while he was singing and it worked great. I know many people are asking about filters built in. There isn't anything like that but the performer didn't care since he was using an fx pedal for his instrument anyways. Vocally the unit sounds clean so you don't need to do a ton of adjustment for a vocalist unless they need to have the mix more wet.
Christian Garcia you can sure use these outside. To compare the two I feel the evolve 50 is going to be well rounded with the full crossover and an actually sub. Of you already have the Elx I would just stick with that but if you are looking to buy one or the other I would go evolve. Also remember the price point. The Elx is a great speaker for the cost.
@@benalvarez3541 IMOP, BOSE L1 M2,B2 +T1 sound better than EVOLVES. I sold my L1's and i have 1 EVOLVE 50. I now run with BOSE F1 SYSTEM....Kills them both no comparison
DJ PACKMAN, where did you find these specs? I've looked all over couldn't find if it was RMS or peak. I do know that the 2 EV Evolve 50's are plenty loud for an large backyard outside gig with a 3 piece power trio rock band, that included running the vocals, drums, guitar, and bass through the system.
EV is not posting RMS mainly cause it RMS rating have been a lie for about the last 10 years. 127db SPL. An example would be a QSC KW153 comes in at 134db SPL. You may be thinking that 7db is alot until you attempt to lift a QSC KW153 up on a pole.
WHY Why Why do you demo a portable PA with the most LAME and dynamically limited piece of music ! Im astounded at the songs that are used to demo Line array sPAs on youtube - Ballads , County , MOR, Awful Chick singers that sound like little girls - For Gods sake use a Rock , Dance -Duff or Pop track !

Very Nice Explaining !
Best review of the ev evolve
This is a good review especially mixing it with the mic
Thanks Mark!
Great video! I just order a set from Sweetwater today. Thank you for doing a demo.
For sure. You are gonna love them!
@@djjermusic They sound absolutely wonderful! Especially the audio gear I am using with my NS Design CR5 cello.

Club puts more power into the sub level and less on the top end. It's an eq setting
but you can then add even more into the sub with that separate setting?@@djjermusic
Hey Jeremy, please can you confirm how the Mix Out feature works. Your description is different to the manual.
Truthfully with a small footprint I would probably put in front of the stage anyways but there are many ways to do anything.
wow your amazing
how much? what the price, is it affordable love EV but it needs to make sense to me at purchasing. like what the primary application . if tis multiple application and the price is more than say a K12 and K sub combo. thanks in advance
kevin Mitchell I know they list is around $1599 and dealers are launching some really aggressive pricing right now. Sounds like first shipment might already be sold out.
thanks for the rapid reply, saw you at the dj expo, keep posting
What size room or how many people would these be good for?
We typically have 2, one on each side of the dance floor. Depending how the room is, if it's wide we will usually add one more to the far side. For actual guest size that is going to vary depending on positioning. We can accommodate around 300 on the average but with good gain structure you can exceed that.
Will there be covers for the sub?
Bryan Mortimer yes they are already available when the speakers ship.
i have the ev zlx15p , how would these compare sound qualitywise ?
John Dixon well it's a 15" horn compared to stacked 3" horns. Yours are going to be a fuller sound because you have more spl with a larger speaker. It's hard to compare a column to a full cabinet speaker. I hope that helps.
Have you tested it for a singer / acoustic guitar
Great question. Yes, we have ran it with a guitar(electric and acoustic) while he was singing and it worked great. I know many people are asking about filters built in. There isn't anything like that but the performer didn't care since he was using an fx pedal for his instrument anyways. Vocally the unit sounds clean so you don't need to do a ton of adjustment for a vocalist unless they need to have the mix more wet.
Does 2 of these sound better than 2 elx115p?
Can you use these in open area?
Christian Garcia you can sure use these outside. To compare the two I feel the evolve 50 is going to be well rounded with the full crossover and an actually sub. Of you already have the Elx I would just stick with that but if you are looking to buy one or the other I would go evolve. Also remember the price point. The Elx is a great speaker for the cost.
djjermusic
I have 2 elx115p but i just want to know if the upgrade is worth it and if you think is gonna sound way better?
Thaks for answer!
Sweet. But will it break the bank?
Of course!!!
Jeremy can you please give me a quick EV Evolve 50 vs Bose L1 Model 1S with B2 run down? Which is better?
joe Vasquez yes I will be able to get a video soon comparing the two side by side, features, sound, etc.
DJ Jer, I would like to see a full review and your honest opinion between EV Evolve vs. Bose L1 Model II with B2 Bass Module and ToneMatch, please!
@@benalvarez3541 IMOP, BOSE L1 M2,B2 +T1 sound better than EVOLVES. I sold my L1's and i have 1 EVOLVE 50. I now run with BOSE F1 SYSTEM....Kills them both no comparison

Whats the RMS output on the Evolve 50?
250 watt RMS TOP
250 WATT RMS SUB
500 WATT RMS TOTAL
1000 WATT PEAK
DJ PACKMAN, where did you find these specs? I've looked all over couldn't find if it was RMS or peak. I do know that the 2 EV Evolve 50's are plenty loud for an large backyard outside gig with a 3 piece power trio rock band, that included running the vocals, drums, guitar, and bass through the system.
@@esezate1 What do you think about the Maui P900? Disregarding price
What´s the max SPL?
lexicon1967 127
I like the cat! LOL
Rodent control :)
Can this speaker vs with LD System Curve 500TS,which one is the best sound for that?
Sorry I don't understand your question. Which is the best sound for what?
Evolve 50 vs LD system curve 500TS, which one is the best sound?
What's the RMS breakdown? What does it push?
Jerry Matos great spec question. It looks like 127 max spl.
EV is not posting RMS mainly cause it RMS rating have been a lie for about the last 10 years. 127db SPL. An example would be a QSC KW153 comes in at 134db SPL. You may be thinking that 7db is alot until you attempt to lift a QSC KW153 up on a pole.
@@jeffwright1452 250 watt rms both tops and sub. 500 watt rms total. 1000 watt peak power
I would be ashamed to listen to this music outside of getting paid to endure it.
