    Fun fact! I studied porcelain in China and the reason it’s Fine China is because in China (specifically Jindgezhen) is because this area is where a TON of porcelain factories produced the porcelain that would be exported. A lot of the whitest porcelain comes from the mines in China!

    Rachel and Christopher thanks so much for that lesson on the different antique dolls with China Dolls vs. Bisque Dolls, Intaglio eyes on the Heuback Dolls, and reproduction dolls❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️!!! My favorites of the dolls in this video are are: 1899 Tete Juneau stamp on the back of the neck of the SFBJ doll because I love her facial expression, her long eyelashes, her blue earrings, and her beautiful blue dress 💙💙💙💙💙💙!!! And my other favorite is the large Kewpie Doll @ 34:57!!! However, I also really like that made in Taiwan Kewpie doll because I had a doll like that one is a child, except it was bigger. As a child I really love my Kewpie Fan Doll!!! Rachel and Christopher I really enjoyed learning so much about the Dolls and you both made it so much fun!🤗🤗💜💜💜💜💜💜💜!!!

    I was ecstatic when y’all opened the box of tiny bisque dolls!!! 😮While I’m mostly a collector of Raggedy Anns, I do have a tiny collection of penny bisques or frozen Charlotte dolls. I touched up their hair, or actually turned most of them into brunettes. They’re no longer naked and reside in the corner of the dollhouse bookshelf. I’ve named three of them and decided they’re siblings. Little Agnes (major attitude) Ethel and Theo. Every single time I visit my local antique shop, I look for one. They’re around $10 a piece and totally worth it! Thanks for sharing the info, I never knew they were carnival prizes at one time. 💕

    Finding composition without crying has become more difficult than when I acquired the majority of my compo dolls. My favorites are WWII yarn haired dolls…nylon went for parachutes so doll makers used yarn. I haven’t seen one on EBay or Etsy in months without massive crazing. Great video! I have two kewpies my mother gave me…one has his chest “tag.” I think they are so cute!

    22:43 That´s an around 1930 Mexican composition doll 8" with Mustache, 4 Joints, handmade, there are some on ebay listed in their original outfits. I think this one is a luchador de lucha libre ("lucha libre" wrestler), they were sold as souvenirs from Mexico in ferias (fairs) and street stands and represent different Mexican customs such as charros, wrestlers, mariachi, matador, etc. The matador one can be confused with a Spanish doll but in Mexico we inherited the tradition of bullfighting from Spain. You can ask for more info at Museo del Juguete Antiguo México (Antique Toy Mexico Museum)

      Oh, what an insightful comment! Thank you for sharing this knowledge about the 1930 Mexican composition doll. It's fascinating to learn about dolls that represent cultural customs and traditions. The luchador de lucha libre is especially interesting! The Museo del Juguete Antiguo México sounds like a treasure trove of information. Always love learning more about the rich history behind these dolls. Thanks for being part of our doll-loving community and sharing such gems of information! 🌟💕

    Interesting with the eyes. When I learnt about Italian art in school, I found out that the way the eye is carved, depends on whether it’s a pale or a dark one. These markings would reflect the light thus making different coloured eyes. If you think about a pizza with 8 pieces and one piece carved out… That was one coloured eye. The other style had seven of the eight pieces of the pizza carved out. Clever don’t you think?

    Love the dolls with character too. I believe the wrestling doll is possibly wearing the wrestling shoes? But didn't look well. So the black and the white would have been probably kid glove leather all one shoe not socks.. You can look at vintage wrestling movies. He looks familiar and kind of looks like a milk mustache like drinking your milk to be strong maybe? Really wondering wrestler baby reminds me of the old burlesque babies? Could be from one of the old Shirley Temple burlesque babies clips where she was about 2 years old?

Wouldn't it have been wonderful if they were all put on strings and had a little baby burlesque theatre movie set and could put on a show with a little miss baby Shirley Temple!? 🍭🍬🚸💞🏠💕🚼👑🚺👡🎩🚹💪👞💐👔👒👗👕 I would love a dollie playhouse like that! Hi thank you for your information, I am so exited to know about the old dolls, My Father got me a doll, first let me tell you about me, I was Born 1945 so hi must got the doll when I was about 5 or 6 years old, The doll walk I held her hand and she stared to walk moving her head one side to a nether, she had teeth and her hair was braided and put on her ears, like prices Leia in Star Wars and her dress was different colors with with collar, and with shows. I don't No how to descriver her, she was not able to set down, I guess because she walk. I love her, My Aunt and I move different times and I just don't remember how I lost her. Can you Possibly help me to find one. At the time I was in Mexico. In 1965 I move to the USA To South Bend Indiana. Presently I am In Boise Idaho. Your help will be greatly Appreciated. My Name is Lolita.

    • @RachelHoffmanDolls
      @RachelHoffmanDolls  8 місяців тому

      Hello Lolita, thank you for sharing your special doll memory with us. Dolls like the one you described, with walking and head-moving mechanisms, were quite popular in the 1950s and can be a treasure to rediscover. While I can't personally search for the doll, you might find luck searching online auctions, doll forums, or specialized doll shops that carry vintage items. You can also consider attending a doll show or contacting doll experts to help you in your search.
      Since you originally got your doll in Mexico, she might be a unique regional piece, making her extra special. Wishing you all the best on your journey to reconnect with a cherished part of your childhood. Your story is heartwarming, and I hope you find your special doll again. 🎀
