Derrick Plourde 👍👍, my brother's and I got to hang out with Him when we saw them for the Hoss tour. He showed my brother and I the secret to his playing. My brother and I were heavily inspired by Dan Panic of Screeching Weasel and Aaron Comet Bus of Crimpshrine before we started listening to Lagwagon so we didn't understand how he played that fast because we'd never seen any videos because this was before the internet.
You're right. That snare in between the accents are perfect in that song. I could imagine Henry Rollins pointing the mic at the crowd pretending their gun shots haha.
@@PrettyCoolDrumShow real quick let me just say that I really like your videos cuz there are no channels on UA-cam about punk/hardcore drumming and I think the awkward editing makes it really entertaining, thank you
Remember actively trying to put your mouth to a microphone that other people have had in and around their mouth? Best times. Can’t wait to inadvertently kiss everyone again.
My favorite flag album has to be Slip it in 🤘 I'm no drummer but Bill 's drumming in that album is awesome sounds slugg-ish doom-ish, Wound up and You're not evil my fav songs
Amazing video, hardcore definitely has the most unsung drumming heroes of any genre imo. Some other ones I feel never get the credit is Nik Woj from Cold World, Grant Hart from Husker Du, Benny from Sunami, Chris Moore from Cokebust, and Max Ward namely from Spazz.
What’s up with the audio track of My War that you’re playing along with? It sounds like it’s been run through a pitch shifter and everything has been effectively down tuned, but the tempo of the song hasn’t been affected. Weird! Either way though, I first heard this album in 1993/1994, around the time I first got into punk. I’ve never stopped listening to it, and I just turned 40 in January. Been listening to punk for the majority of my life... Bill Stevenson is one of the absolute best drummers from that era of punk, hands down. I remember his work with the Descendents and Black Flag really well for the most part, and he really adds a lot to whatever band he’s drumming for. Awesome drummer who’s been in some of the greatest classic punk bands, IMO at least.
Bill Stevenson one of my favorite drummer with Josh Freese and Derrick Plourde !
All great drummers with their own unique style too!

Dude has an absolutely beautiful voice too. I think the two songs he sings on that Lemonheads record are the best ones.
Yes! I feel like he sings backups on a lot of the records he engineers as well
Thanks for this. Bill Stevenson on the the greatest American rock drummers ever and terribly over looked

As a young punk drummer you making a video about bill Stevenson is awesome.
Hell yeah Bill rules! Whats your favorite record he’s played on?

Right!? It seems so weird that we all did this without even the slightest worry before haha it’s gonna take a while for it to feel normal again
It’s normal again
. nice.. do MORE STEVENSON PLEASE !!
Bill Stevenson and Mike Watt are the 2 best punk drummers ever.

Dude this video is amazing. I'm blown away lol 10/10!!
Wishing I had a drummer like you to jam with rn
I feel your pain!
So sick. This is the content I needed. Best drum channel 🙌
Thanks so much!!
Damn good drumming there, man. ⚡️🌟⚡️
This is such a cool idea for a series, I love it.
Thanks! Definitely planning on doing more! Any suggestions?

What’s up Tommy
Henry Rollins looks like the Punk version of Jim Morrison.

Yup! I tried to avoid the algorithm by shifting down the song so it wouldn’t get taken down, but I don’t think it worked haha
@@PrettyCoolDrumShow oh ok! I see how it turned out that way...
@@DaveFromTheDead probably should’ve just uploaded it as the original pitch lol
@@PrettyCoolDrumShow it’s all good man! I know My War really well and it’s actually my favorite Black Flag album. The drumming was the point anyway!
@@DaveFromTheDead for sure! My War is amazing and I think I agree it’s my favorite as well
