I didn't realise before watching this, of the intense choreography necessary to fight a fire. These men are artists, and their job is a wonderful, intelligent and beautiful act of bravery and skill.
This is incredibly different from US. Here, every fire department has SCBA capability, though not every volunteer firefighter is SCBA-qualified depending on the state.
These guys a volunteers so there are a couple different types of brigades, the ones without are your rural brigade which primarily responds to scrub and brush fires but the SCBA brigade are classed as a village brigade meaning they are BA equipped usually due to them having their station with in a larger township
These are the “rurals”. - volunteer, part time and unpaid (in Queensland, at least) firefighters. We have the Urbans which are generic firefighters, who are just.. firefighters. They BA capability, plus SWR, HAZMAT, RTC\RCR (mva], etc.
I miss hearing you guys using analogue radios. Sure, I can listen to the digital systems with my current scanners, but to me there just seems to be something special about the analogue radios.
My CFA Brigade urgently need to watch and implement this .....they are inadequately trained and lack skills, knowledge and experience in structural fire fighting
Fire fighters must remember.......the greatest good we can do for crews and the unfortunate, on the fire ground, is to get water on the fire as a high priority. A good promo video. However...it should be used in context and.......it does not take the place of sound knowledge of fire behavior and practiced fire fighting skills.
I couldn't agree more. It is a good video and I think adequately highlights the roles and value that crews who are not trained BA structure attack crews can provide. There's a lot goes on outside and the 2 guys inside need a lot of support. The guys outside play as big if not bigger role and this video highlights their importance well.
