creatives are different than normal people they're more emotional and they're more uncertain of themselves. even the creative people who pretend to have confidence sometimes really don't many times as creative people we feel inadequate inadequacy is a very dangerous feeling. it can make you stop it can make you stop doing things that you really want to do. it will make you doubt yourself. the feeling of inadequacy can make you want to give up. its okay to feel inadequate. it's okay to feel discouraged. its okay to feel that your work is not good enough but it's not okay to give up. its okay to redirect your attention from one project after realizing that it's a failed venture but it's not okay to give up ....... showup, do stuff and don't give up..
If you close your eyes (and I know you shouldn't when watching an instructional video), your voice and delivery is pure Albert Brooks....that's a compliment!
Just wanted to say seriously.. your delivery is flawless. Don't take this as an insult but its like a PBS shoe for adults and i love it. Relaxing and informative.
I don't know why these videos make me laugh so much, but they're just really hitting my sense of humor. The ending with the haze killed me... "This was awful". I'm also inspired... I think. Loved the brief touching on set design and wall color. Bouncing light off some white stuff on walls is sooo useful, and a really powerful tool in tight spaces. The simplicity of the nighttime setup here (the previous lights are dimmer and bluer, because gels) is hilarious to me. Just shows how much the same basic principles of lighting tend to apply for different goals, with the fine details and aesthetic choices making a huge difference. Great video!

I’ve been in a depression since September and I’m just now getting out of it. I didn’t create much. I wrote a lot of mini scripts which I am filming two currently. I never gave up and I’m so happy I didn’t! Keep creating creators
This was very interesting indeed. When you say "How do I recreate that light?" you aren't always recreating it but rather you're creating what the eyes and brain are going to make out of the shot or what the eyes and brain are going to be fooled into beliebing which is the most amazing feat of trickery in filmmaking, I imagine. The simplest example I can think of is when an every day Joe points and shoots a camera at a family event and only afterwards they review the footage and say, "Hey, why is that so dark? (or washed out) I can't even see half of what I was shooting." Your eyes see one way of detail and sends the info to the brain and it all seems to make sense but on video or film, it is a total difference. (I'm not sure if that is making any sense but it sure sounded good to me.)

Thanks so much! Good question. We use expensive equipment cause we make TV ads for a living so epic light just has a bunch of nice stuff. We are hoping to incorporate budget options in the future though.
