smartradioconcepts.com is where Edwin sells the kits.
At Ham Radio Friedrichshafen I came upon Charly 25, a modular, open source TRX (transceiver) based on Red Pitaya.

I wish it was a AMD cpu and not intel. I see the system throttling with that little heat on the mobo. I'm not nit-picking, just an observation. I do like the modular nature of the equipment for the build. I am interested in that transceiver but must look into powerSDR alternatives for linux. Let me rephrase that to GNU/Linux so I don't upset the GNU crowd. Since windows, in my eye's, is becoming an ad platform much like android, I went back to linux.

It’s the base for the radio, as in Charly25 is basically Red Pitaya with a computer and a UI all packaged together.

how good is the receiver of the Charly 25 compared to an Icom IC-7300, any better ? dynamic range 2KHz and BDR would interest me. what sort of A/D converter is in that Charly 25 ?

I think it uses LTC 2208 ADC which is the same ADC in the 7300? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Looks great, but I emptied my pockets and didn't find 4,000 Euros, so I guess I'll pass.

Yes it’s a bit spendy but I thought it was interesting nonetheless. There are other options such as sBITX which are cheaper. But the base red pitaya is 700€.

@@n2rj I wish we could build it cheaper but we are not a volume manufacturer like all the other commercial ones, we are just a team of 4 people who developed and build it... thats the problem - if you build low volume cost is pretty high and the manufacturing of the modules is mainly done in Germany wich is not really known as low cost country.. hi

No worries at all. Something like a Flex which is made in USA (they have their own factory in Austin Texas) is thousands as well. It is what it is.

When l came to purchase mine, l dealt directly with Edwin, the process was a complete pleasure by being treated as an individual, with a follow up courtesy email enquiring that my package arrived both satisfactorily and securely.
There is no equal to this product, Red Pitaya is very powerful.
