    Answer: None of the above.
    1. LC3 codec, which is introduced in BT 5.2 but the market is very slim for headphones that supports it.
    2. AptX Low Latency codec, more common among headphones and Sennheiser HD 250BT are the cheapest.
    3. FastStream codec, also a

    Have bought Soundpeats Air 3 Pro, here's my verdict: Played PGR and Genshin on my Poco F3, the latency is definitely noticable and quite disturbing the gameplay. Turning on or off the "low latency" on Bluetooth setting doesn't change anything. Dunno whether it's the fault of the earphone, game or the phone itself. The bass also is pretty high for someone that like balanced audio like me. Even my Realme Buds Air Neo sounds better imo and sometimes have better latency though the battery definitely worse than Air 3 Pro. Kinda regret buying this tbh.

    Yeah I guess it just depends on the supported codecs between the host/media device and wireless headphones. For now SBC is pretty great, but maybe AptX Adaptive optimizations as well as support will getting ubiquitous enough in coming years. 🤞
    Any plans to test Low Complexity Communications Codec (LC3 aka "Bluetooth LE") at some point?
    Apparently it is a lot more energy efficient and can scale bitrate even better than SBC. It might even halve latency compared to current codecs from 160-480ms to 80-240ms.

    based on my experience:
    1. SBC lowest latency & lowest quality
    2. AAC in the middle. So it's a so so
    3. APT-X highest latency & highest sound quality 😅

    • @namedkenn
      @namedkenn  2 роки тому

      Haha that used to be the case! Although the difference in sound quality is not as stark as the latency difference so for gaming I always ended up with SBC (to be honest I still don't perceive any substantial difference in sound quality across different codecs), but this last test really changed my view about aptX Adaptive!

    • @handlemonium
      @handlemonium 2 роки тому

      Yeah SBC might not be technically best for those who can hear the difference in high bitrate or "lossless" audio, but IMO audio tuning and hardware audio drivers can generally makes a much bigger difference to the listening experience than bluetooth codecs (barring latency of course).

      The difference in sound quality between the BT codecs is so small that is almost impossible to detect. You'll spend hours playing the same piece of track and still not be able to tell with accuracy which is which without guessing.
      1. The sound quality gets literally destroyed when compressed for BT. What codec is being used, doesn't matter much.
      2. The differences in sound quality that you hear between the BT codecs are mainly the different qualities of implementations because not every manufacturer implements all codecs with the same level of importance, even for the same product.
      3. Even if the codecs are all implemented at the same quality, the manufacturer can set different sound profiles for each codec. Now with DSP is even easier.
      4. Even if the manufacturer decides to implement them all at the best quality and keep them without changing their sound profiles and EQ, the LDAC codec will still sound different than the rest because LDAC does change the sound regardless of the manufacturer's decision. LDAC is a closed-source codec and no one can change anything about it except Sony.
      5. Even when you manage to hear something, it can be an artifact or just a placebo in 99% of the cases.
      The bottom line is, don't stress about the BT codecs. They all suck at the moment when it comes to sound quality. The implementation matters a lot more than what codec is being used. Chose the BT codec depending on the fetures and end results rather than marketing BS and technicalities.

      Quality wise:
      SBC-XQ (SBC dual channel) is same as Apt-X HD
      SBC is same as Apt-X
      AAC is useless.
      SBC-XQ uses 450 or 600 Kbps depending on your bluetooth transmitter.
      SBC uses 350 Kbps.
      If you have bad quality with SBC, it means your device uses ancient bluetooth drivers.

    Maybe you can do a comparison video on effect of ANC to Latency. I have compared mini pro and air3 pro and found air3 pro latency remains the same regardless ANC is active or not while latency on mini pro increase.
    Aptx low latency work just fine if you are not using tws. My neckband QCC5125 add about 70ms latency and no tws can come close. Too bad it does not have ANC and neckband earbuds has been superseded by TWS.

    Samsung has an option called Bluetooth Metronome, it really cancels latency on any Bluetooth device, but I feel like very few people know about it 🤔

    • @fuuneaki8729
      @fuuneaki8729 2 роки тому +5

      Hmmm just downloaded and tried, it cannot cancel the latency though.
      Bluetooth use a buffer size to pre-load the audio so the physically we cannot cancel the latency of bluetooth.
      We can watch video and listen to music without latency only because the audio is pre-loaded into the earphone.
      But the latency will be obvious when we are playing games, espectially rhythm games.

    soo all those ms numbers they say are lies? aptx adaptive 60ms is a lie? damn, can you put a nail in the coffin in bluetooth earphones for me please? can you test aptx low latency between two devices that support it so i can see if they true have 40ms or that is also a lie so i can finnaly give up on bluetooth and just stay with wired

    • @namedkenn
      @namedkenn  Рік тому

      It’s not a lie, but rather it’s only stating the bluetooth earbuds’ latency, not the phone hardware and software in total, which is what you see tested in all of my tests
      And as you can see ocassionally I do test wired and you might find some latency, that’s what I’m talking about, if let’s say we have 100ms latency on the phone and 60ms on the earbuds, that really adds up to 160ms which is some of the best gaming mode out there
      And one thing I wanted to add, even wired actually there could be some latency, but this varies from phone to another so I always try to keep testing with the same phone at least until I upgrade to a much better one, although on the iOS side I found the numbers to be more consistent across different models
