I was in my late teens when this dropped. I lived in a very bad neighborhood flooded with drugs, gangs, and guns. I ran with some unruly people that are all mostly dead or in jail now. My parents didn’t like it but I had to claim the set. I helped destroy my community and my people. A few years after this came out my father passed away and left me some change. I left and never came back. I have sons now and they have never got a taste of the streets. My oldest is a teacher now. I tell them about the things I’ve seen and went through. I feel lucky to be alive and free. I also feel like I wasted the best years of my life out there in that street life. It’s a trap. If you’re in the streets, get out while you can. Peace.

I Grew Up Off Of Music Like This I Thank My People For Introducing Me To Music Like This I Still Listen To Music Like This Because Today's Music Is Going Down Tha Drain 💯💯💯💯💯
Scarface is great because he is a real dude with real struggles that real fans relate to. Some people like to listen to music to fantasize about a type of life they wish to know. And that's fine. But a lot of us would much rather listen to music we can relate to in our day to day struggle and find that there are others going through the same type struggles and find solidarity in that and even that there is always a silver lining or something to smile for even in the darkest hours. Plus we see how they have made better lives for themselves despite less than ideal beginnings, and that is truly inspiring and is in a very real way a positive message in itself. Bit people who aren't from the "wrong side of the track" don't understand that type of inspiration I guess. Only hear the negative parts.
I’m from New York but this song had such a big impact on my life. Scarface is different when it comes to telling these stories. He says things that everybody can relate to on some level !!
