    From 1992 Soundtrack: "South Central". Also appeared on the 1993 Geto Boys Album: "Till Death Do We Part"...(Click "show more" for artist info)...
    Scarface began his career as Akshen (pronounced Action) recording solo for Lil' Troy's Short Stop Records, a local label in Houston. He would go on to sign with Rap-A-Lot Records and join a group who were collectively known as Geto Boys replacing one member who left, and released the group's second album Grip It! On That Other Level (1989), a highly successful LP that garnered the group a large fanbase, in spite of their violent lyrics keeping them from radio and MTV. He took his stage name from the 1983 film Scarface.
    The album Mr. Scarface Is Back was a success, and Scarface's popularity soon overshadowed the other Geto Boys. Scarface remained in the group while releasing a series of solo albums that kept him in the public view with increasing sales. This peaked with The Diary and The Last of a Dying Breed, which received overwhelmingly positive reviews and sales, and earned him Lyricist of the Year at the 2001 Source Awards.
    In 2002, he released The Fix, the follow up to The Last of a Dying Breed and returned to the studio with the Geto Boys for their album, The Foundation. He was also featured on The Biggie Duets alongside Big Gee and Akon. He guest-appeared on Ray Cash's debut single "Bumpin' my Music".
    In addition to his career as a lyricist, Scarface has also been the coordinator and president of Def Jam South since 2000, where he has fostered the career of popular rapper Ludacris, whom he originally signed to the label.
    Scarface has appeared on Freeway's album Free at Last and will appear on Beanie Sigel's album, The Solution. Scarface is currently planning production; he has produced three tracks on UGK's Underground Kingz: "Life In 2009," "Still Ridin' Dirty," and "Candy."
    Some of Scarface's early music videos ("A Minute to Pray, A Second To Die") featured community activist Quanell X in supporting roles.
    In 2008, Scarface collaborated with rapper Tech N9ne on his album Killer on the song "Pillow Talkin'".
    Despite limited commercial appeal, he remains uniquely popular amongst those in the industry, and has been described as "your favorite rapper's favorite rapper". On August 6th, 2009 Scarface will be performing his final performance at the 2009 Gathering of the Juggalos. In 2005, comedian Chris Rock praised Scarface as one of the best three rappers of all time on his list of the Top-25 Hip-Hop Albums ever: "Everything Biggie did, everything 'Pac did, everything Jay-Z does was originally done on the first Scarface album. Biggie kills himself at the end of his first record; well, Scarface did it three years earlier. He was the first guy to do his rhymes in the first person about robbing people and drug dealing; he was the first guy to really talk about being depressed and being institutionalized, and how his mama is scared of him. He is the most underrated rapper of all time and absolutely in the top three. You cannot get to four without mentioning Scarface. Any rapper knows that."

    I was in my late teens when this dropped. I lived in a very bad neighborhood flooded with drugs, gangs, and guns. I ran with some unruly people that are all mostly dead or in jail now. My parents didn’t like it but I had to claim the set. I helped destroy my community and my people. A few years after this came out my father passed away and left me some change. I left and never came back. I have sons now and they have never got a taste of the streets. My oldest is a teacher now. I tell them about the things I’ve seen and went through. I feel lucky to be alive and free. I also feel like I wasted the best years of my life out there in that street life. It’s a trap. If you’re in the streets, get out while you can. Peace.

    Scarface is great because he is a real dude with real struggles that real fans relate to. Some people like to listen to music to fantasize about a type of life they wish to know. And that's fine. But a lot of us would much rather listen to music we can relate to in our day to day struggle and find that there are others going through the same type struggles and find solidarity in that and even that there is always a silver lining or something to smile for even in the darkest hours. Plus we see how they have made better lives for themselves despite less than ideal beginnings, and that is truly inspiring and is in a very real way a positive message in itself. Bit people who aren't from the "wrong side of the track" don't understand that type of inspiration I guess. Only hear the negative parts.

      Some people don't embrace the "street life" maybe we should educate our kids??? seems to work for a lot of black men. Why put in the hard work when we can do sour shit and blame it on whitey right?

    • @allenscott68
      @allenscott68 8 місяців тому

      Zulu swashbuckler.
      @robertsmeagles not everybody is able to resist yes there those who live in that kind of environment that haven't joined a gang or got into selling drugs or anything kind of criminal activity but they are those who have because they didn't have people to teach and guide them or they didn't have the right people guide them yes they are those who chose that life but they are also those who had no choice I didn't grow up in an environment like the one scarface was rapping about so I can't say I relate but I've learned that life isn't all candy and ice cream and one big party and it's becoming more and more clear everyday it's easy to criticize someone when you haven't walked in their shoes or experience what they've experienced you're right though we should educate our children so they would stay away from things like gangs and drugs but if we did that people like you would have nutting to criticize and were the fun in that especially when it's so much easier funner to judge and point the finger and say lock them up ha🗣‼️😉
      Oh and f.y.i it was the white man who created this unfair and unjust system that for centuries and decades that kicked us black people in the ass racism is not something that black people just one day made up and pulled out of their ass it's something even black people who haven't grown up in the ghettos and inner city experience🗣‼️

    1992, The Geto Boys at the top of the mountain!!! The quality was outstanding at that time. After their monster hit "Mind Playing Tricks On Me" they came one year later with "Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangster" and "Street Life", Bushwick Bill released "Ever So Clear" and then in 1993 Scarface dropped his best solo track "Now I Feel Ya"... that's unbelievable if you think about it right now...
