Poor thing. Was searching for love in all the wrong places. Unfortunately, Warhol used her just like other artists (Basquiat) and I believe that was the start of her decline.

Edie and Andy used each other. I have a lot of empathy for Edie Sedgwick but I hate that everybody paints her as a victim of either Warhol or her own traumatic upbringing. They always forget her choices though. She obviously had a lot of potential but she chose to waste it. She was given so many opportunities to turn her life around and she threw every one of them away. I’ve read a lot about her and my impression is that Edie never did anything she didn’t want to. She did whatever she wanted, it’s just very sad that what she wanted to do was throw her life away.
Edie &Andy Never under estimate just how much it fucks up a kid up when daddy decides it's okay to literally fuck you. Some things you never get over. Some things are unforgivable.
Fuzzy was the start of the decline mentioned., and the probable reason for her bad choices.

I always loved her. Too bad she was so tortured or she may have lived to make many a great movie and finally feel successful!! Although, I’m sure that in some small way it was her “tortured” side that made her a good actress and made her who she was! If that was taken away??....... Who knows?

Very interesting and very informative. Thanks for some new and candid info on Edie. Have been a huge fan and in love with her for years even after the sad ending to her life, even after she wasn't looking well and as beautiful as she once did. Even at the end of her life she still had that beautiful, innocent childlike soul that made you only want to love her more.
The movie Caoi Manhattan is actually very creepy and has her living in the bottom of a swimming pool, obviously zonked out of her mind, and getting B12 shots administered
On the Eve of the Edie’s passing she was caught on camera in the background of the shooting of a PBS series called An American Family, about a local family called The Louds. This was considered the first American reality show. In this scene a guest at a fashion show is telling her to leave and calling her a heroin addict
Edgar Allen Pwned I agree about the movie. I was never impressed with Warhols movies either. To me the guy was very lazy about his art. He just threw it out there so to speak, used other people to do most of the work, then sat back and called it art.

I did a shoot when I was a model at the Chelsea. It was a grimy place. Nothing special. Edie was beautiful but big deal. We all need Jesus.
All the money or fame in the world, wouldn't have saved her. She had way too much emotional baggage, her whole young life. Her sicko father, abused her and I imagine the rest of hersiblings. Her two brothers killed themselves, Dear Lord. Warhol used her and. didn't pay her. Then she went hard in drugs, which killed her. Poor girl is at peace now. Sad.
Exactly. She had already been institutionalized in mental hospitals and had an abortion even before she met Andy Warhol.And was also using drugs before, just not heroin.

This is only a guess of mine but I suspect there were a good number of people (even among that self-destructive crowd) who genuinely tried to help Edie in any way that might prove effective. What so often happens in those cases is the person of concern repeatedly rejects those attempts and -- most especially if hard drugs are involved -- continues a downward slide that people who love them can only witness in exasperation and sadness. The hand is extended but the drowning person cannot, or will not, grasp it. Kirk Feather

Her brother has written a few books one about whole Sedgwick clan and another about her... she was a sweet soul and yes sadly tortured soul but if you do some you tube and look at her eyes you see all her emotions the hurt, the longing for love the right way, lost, lonely but loving. she was young and naive.. she wasn't a druggie until towards the end of her relationship with Andy whom and I'm sorry to say used her up and spit her out showed his real soul... anyway yes agreed this was definitely 1 of my top 3 in all our kitty's posts...hehehe

deets crash I could sit all day and tell you some Drama bout my Silver Goddess (Edie) from her dad's abuse of all the kids two brothers died one was suicide because he was gay and his scumbag of a father belittled and brow beat this poor boy.. I believe he was also at Silver Hills asylum like there's a cure?? uggg.. Edie and her brother were so close and shared everything she was his constant until he could no longer take it. The other brother died on New year Eve. They had gone out separately and both had accidents that very night she survived he didn't.. they too were close so she had survivor's guilt to boot...the name she called her father was FUZZY now tell me what cha think so far?? Well that's just scratching the Silver Goddesses very thin too layer... hope that gave a little insight of why she was so tortured and as I said that's just a baby step into her world...not that I've done much research or anything HA like 25 or more yrs. Looking at her life and so many like her... Have a great day. :)

Eerie that the in the picture of the Chelsea Hotel at 3:18 the windows on the seventh floor and closest to the camera look like the numbers "666" , given the history of the Chelsea Hotel.
ITs more like at 3:18......and yeah, I see it right below the balcony on the far right of the frame.....
So what’s really freaky-is it’s actually the 6th floor and I know that because I stayed there last week (just the opposite side). It’s easy to see my room in photos bc we didn’t have a balcony. The lobby is the lower floor. I absolutely loved staying there and can’t wait to go back.

I stayed there a few years ago because of the rich history it has. What a mistake! It's a run down fire trap! One bad remodel after another and it looks horrible. You can see paint over paint over paint, same with wallpaper, they never remove the old stuff, just plaster something else over it. My room had a cracked sink where they "patched" it with cement! There actually was a bullet hole (ok, maybe it was a BB) in the window. Even at that it was about $250 @ night!

She didn't make much of her life unfortunately. Being an "it" girl fame isn't much to achieve. Point being....be careful what and who you choose to put in your life. She was away from her parents in college, safe from her dad at one point. I imagine she was an intelligent, interesting enough person, but she chose the whole "look at me" route...ending up making temporary headlines and blurbs in youtube videos
