Absolutely love this video, John! Your diverse selection of recommended collectible wines is fantastic. These wines are definitely standout choices with richness, complexity, and aging potential. Each choice, from the elegant Château Ducru Beaucaillou to the superb Marqués de Murrieta Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial, flaunts the breadth and depth of world-class quality wines available to collectors. Ornellaia Bolgheri DOC Superiore Rosso and Dominus Estate truly are two exceptional collector’s items from Italy and Napa Valley, respectively. And, of course, the Champagne Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle No. 26 - need I say more?😁 Your insights on why each wine is worth including in the cellar are all helpful and valuable. Really excellent information on every wine pick including farming and winemaking practices and their impact on the wines, prices and related considerations, tasting notes and exceptional vintages plus film recommendation. Looking forward to discovering plenty more collectible and age-worthy wines in your future videos! Cheers, John!

The Ygay is a delicate and complex wine that is made for aging ! Great choice! The Dominus is my favorite style of Napa wine , with a lot of fine tannins and nuance ! Great recommendations! Cheers !

I just got back from an extended weekend in the Finger Lakes. Following your channel has gotten me more interested in learning all about wines. I had some really outstanding Rieslings but at affordable pricepoints at Hermann J. Wiemer. Each one tasted distinct from the next.

Dominus I have not tried yet, but I recently bought a bottle based on your recommendation from an earlier video. The first wine that you mentioned in this video is one that I’m familiar with, though I haven’t tried it. I have bought two cases of their second wine and it’s very reasonably priced. I’ll have to pick up a bottle or two of their first wine to try. Of course I mean the Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou. The second wine of theirs is so exceptional to me and I hope I notice an improvement in their first wine.

Thank you! Yes their second wine is such a compelling value! Definitely think you will enjoy the top wine as well! 👍🍷

@@AttorneySomm I would think so. I just ordered one that has a lot of age on it. It wasn’t one of their better years, but the price was very reasonable.

I haven't drunk Ygay for about 40 years or so but it was a regular on my list when I first discovered Rioja in my 20s. Unfortunately, Rioja became fashionable and shot up in price, so I drank little of it before re-discovering it about 15 years ago. Nowadays, Rioja in general is excellent value.
I have never drunk Ducru Beaucaillou but last night I shared with our guests a 2005 Branaire-Ducru, which was outstanding and certainly not over the hill, as I had feared. No crushed rocks in my glass, though 😊. I sneakily held one glass back for my sole pleasure this evening, where I can give it my full attention.
Talking of Ornellaia '21, I managed to secure three bottles of its second wine, Le Serre Nuove, from that year, on your recommendation. Ornellaia is out of my price range these days, I'm afraid. You mentioned your video on Brunello, and excellent it is too. I managed to purchase, on your recommendation, half a case of Il Poggione, 2019, as well as a few bottles of Chianti Gran Selezione (Volpaia and Ricasoli) from the same year. Thanks for those suggestions.

      Completely agree re Rioja!
Glad the Brainaire-Ducru was showing well. Smart to set a glass aside!
The second wine is excellent too! Glad you purchased a few bottles!
Also think you will enjoy the 19 Brunello!
      Cheers!

@@AttorneySomm Oh, we also started with an excellent grower Champagne (Brochet) NV and, with dessert, I opened a beautiful half bottle of Doisy-Vedrines, 2013 (none of that left, unfortunately) but do have about half of the 2003 Vintage Port, which we enjoyed with the Stilton. Altogether, a very enjoyable evening.

I try to feature wines at a variety of price points. The 21 Napanook is probably the single best value in Napa Valley at $95. Last week I featured a $25 wine. The wines in this video really are the best of the best of the new releases and I selected them from numerous other wines at similar or higher price points for which you could say the same thing.
