our hero
he is dump commentator, like this nobody wont hear, anoying
So cool to see the observation. They have such good eyes for the route...janja and pilz just doing all the moves in sync together:D
Sorry Hannah, from now on I hope you miss the finales! Great commentary, I really enjoyed your pure happiness! :)
Thank you so much for the cast and recording!
Small correction for the host: Jain Kim's name is pronounced not how you would read Janja. First two sounds are more similar to "Jazz". Then last two are "in".
That's how european and american commentators call her and it is the easiest for them to stress J like in Jazz. I am aware that the korean sound ㅈ in the beginning of a syllable is between J and CH. Anyway thanks for commenting, if you can help the commentators better than me, it makes me only happier.
you must be fun at parties
no kidding. it's driving me crazy to hear him pronouncing her name exactly the same as he pronounces Jan Hojer! It doesn't matter where exactly between a J and a CH it is. It's not at all a Y
i feel you man, I hate when people call her name wrong
Drove me to frustration, it's more like Kim Ja-een.
Charlie Bosco, when interviewing her pronounced it more like Jane, which is a lot closer than "Yan Kim"
He also named Mina Markovic as Mina Malkovic in the semi-finals.
If Mike Langley is dyslexic, and he is reading the names of people he has never heard of, then no problem, but Kim Jain has won 25 World Cups, Mina Markovic has won 20. They are not unknowns.
And I struggled to try and ignore:
aflete - athlete
tenf - tenth
uvver - other
Yes, that's an "accent" (it's called th-fronting, look it up on wikipedia) not a speech impediment, but please get people's names right!
And breathe.
a pleasure and a great job to see such a quality replay . Fantastics climbers and good organisation !
thx to IFSC !
1:12:39 It's okay Sean, I didn't understand the question either. lol
i love jain kim's attitude and style
Agree. Watching Jain Kim is like ballet on a wall. With regard to Charlie Boscoe doing interviews mostly, I believe it's a format the producers started using a couple of competitions ago. Perhaps to try out something new.
shame to see so many tops like this. hate to see so much reliant on the count backs.
Yes, the route setters seem to have had a hard time in Chamonix. First the qualifying rounds with 20+ tops (men). Then a semi with no tops and now the finals with too many tops. o.O
Perfect chalk faces on the volume at 1:22:30. Pretty cool.
I somehow prefer Charlie commentating....
Same for me. This guy is super annoying and for me as a non native English speaker , almost impossible to understand him.
I might be late into this but the name Kim Jain is pronounced as jar-in and not ya-in. I am not sure why for so many years she didn't correct it with the people mispronouncing her name.
Sean McColl @ 54:00
..have to shut the sounds as the commentary by the Austrian climber wasn't pleasant. Other than that, thanks for the Show! :)
Raymond Dugrinche is my new favourite climber.
Thanks anyway pour le good work.
AT
En plus il fait le meilleur temps le pauvre c'est injuste
Please do not ever let Hannah Schubert be a commentator ever again. For the love of God.
anyone know the song that's playing while jain kim is climbing around 2:10:26
Massive Attack - Teardrop
swiggity swooty, thanks
Apparently all it takes to be a commentator is to pronounce climbers' names wrong and to say over and over again, "Come on, [climber's name]! Come on!"
Can I have this job?
French climber tops it, the European commentator (Hannah): He's the best!
Japanese climber tops it, the European commentator (Hannah): that's a shame!
WTF!!
IMHO that was not because of nationality, but because it was evident at that point that the route was soft.
commentary.? really??
I want boscoe back.
Loïc !!
Anak !!
1:13:23 "I don't know if he understand everything?!" What is wrong with her. Not the first time she's said something racist. I remember her saying "asians have it in their genes." No commentator annoys me more than her -_-
You should pull that stick out of your ass
Charley is HOT!
Lol Soggy Bottom Boys to kick it off
Gotta say the female caster isn’t good. The men’s route is certainly not easy and even Roman didn’t make it look easy.
Please don't let Hannah into a commentator's room EVER AGAIN. She is soo soo bad and annoying. I had to watch half the show mute as I couldn't stand her.
Dorota Lech agree. Just superficial bla bla especially in the men‘s final. Her English vocabulary seems to be limited to like 15 words. You would expect way more technical talk and evaluation of an climbing expert.
That commentary was awkward as fuck...
The female announcer, Hannah Schubert is so biased. Don't like her
