I actually completed it 2 days ago, after completing the first two in 2020. I meant to play this since it came out but I had neither played the first two back then and neither could my old PC handle this one. Such a great game, different than the first two, that's for sure. The atmosphaire didn't feel as greedy and dangerous as New York felt (apart for the levels that took place there) but nontheless it had it's own identity and listening to Max's narration in all three games was what set it apart for me. I don't expect a 4th entry and I don't know how it'd fit Max's character as the first 3 were masterpieces. Now starts the wait for the remakes and since Remedy is behind development, I'm confident that the games we'll receive will be top notch.
Max Payne 3 still have fans! Especially on X box 360 and ps3. Some of the gamers know me as Ravenmustlive and we still have groups keeping the game alive. Even tho there’s a disconnect and rivalry between squads.

Max Payne 3 is like an addiction for me. Whenever I talk about playing shooting games, I think about Max Payne. Whenever I talk about a rockstar game, I think about Max Payne. Whenever I’m asked to recommend a game, I think about Max Payne.
One of the forgotten gems in my opinion. The gameplay was so smooth and the environment/world was so beautiful and reactive like destructive environment. I miss it for sure.
Definitely should buy Max Payne 3 in 2022, well worth it because it still holds up with next gen games. It was ahead of it's time for sure....Shit even the original Max Payne games on PS2 were ahead of their time with the bullet time mechanics and dark story telling. Max Payne 1 specifically is one of my all time favorite video games EVER! I say that because it's so nostalgic from the menu (theme song) to the small sound effects when you would select difficulty and stuff like that. Just every inch of it is memorable and it brings me back to a moment in time when i was in New York and i was begging my father to get it for me at GameStop! Funny thing is, the game was based in NYC and i was playing it somewhere in the Bronx when it first came out. I was younger so yeah i couldn't get it myself, but thank god my dad was cool and he allowed me to play it. The start of the game will always be nostalgic to me. When you're in Jersey and you go home to your wife and baby being slaughtered by maniacs...Man that fucking intro gave me chills...The start of the game was already sad as hell. Such a dark game...I say Silent Hill 2 & Max Payne 1 are my all time favorites because of how Dark they were. Those 2 games changed the course of gaming forever

Yes you should. Such a underrated shooter. Didn’t understand why people didn’t like it. Thought it was way ahead of its time. I’ve been playin this game since it came out back In 2012 literally replay it so much such a great game I remember when the hype for this game was coming out bought it on my 360 I wish they did a remaster or did a fps unlock for the serise s
They need this on PS5! 😢 I always go back to my PS3 to play this along with my James Bond games. I hope rockstar can port this to the PS5 and new gen consoles knowing Remedy is remaking Max Payne 1 and 2
Should you buy it? Absolutely YES. I've been a long-time Max Payne fan (since playing the original in 2001), and this is honestly the best one when it comes to gameplay. I also liked the story, even if it wasn't as clever as the first 2 (well, no Sam Lake). I hope that the upcoming remakes of MP 1 & 2 wil have the same gameplay. This game should've been the true benchmark for all TPS games. If only we had gotten a remaster of it, or at the very least, an FPS boost. Unfortunately, we lost Rockstar to GTA online...
What still baffles me is why rockstar couldn’t just copy and past this game’s gameplay, movement and physics to gta 5 and rdr2. Because it was near perfect. Gta 5’s physics suck, and are literally a huge step down from gta4, a 2008 game, but the character movement and gameplay is ok. Rdr2’s character movement and gameplay sucks and is so boring and unplayable with how easy it is because of the health system, yet so weird and unresponsive the movement and targeting system is, that it makes gunfights no where near as good as any other rockstar game. And the physics are ok. If both of those games had the magic that created max payne 3, they would be phenomenal
No matter what anyone says I think this is one of the finest 3rd person shooters of all time. Amazing amazing game with perfect writing acting and a gripping story. Also the best gameplay rockstar ever made.
Played through the game on hard on my PC for the first time in over a decade. The game is so much better than I remember. If you can play this in 4k 60-144fps do it it's a great experience
Less than 10 bucks, solid, SOLID gameplay and some of the best writing, dialogue and banter I've ever heard in a 3rd person shooter. Plus it's Max Payne, maybe not Sam Lake's face or the noir New York vibe of the original classic. Maybe it's without the signature Remedy quirks and weirdness but if the franchise had to go in any other direction this would be it. Is it worth playing in 2023 even? Silly question, of course it is.
it's crazy how games from the ps3 / xbox 360 era were the last big jump in videogame graphics. I remember as a kid/young teenager how impressed i was with GTA IV. I don't think i will ever be impressed like this again. Look at San Andreas (the original version) and then at GTA IV... what the fuck how is that only one generational leap? ever since the HD gaming era only little improvements have been made. GTA IV, Max Payne 3, Mafia 2...all these "old" games still look so good and still need good hardware if you want to play them in good fidelity. I mean GTA IV released like 14 years ago. Imagine it's 2008 and playing a game from 1994...the difference would be mindboggling...now in 2022 playing a game from 2008, it's still pretty passable. WHY??? Why is development slowing down?
The first two games are great but can be a little bit frustrating control-wise if you're not familiar with the way older games tend to control. Specifically, it can be irritating when it comes to the inverted thumb sticks down means up and up means down situation. Outside of that and how some of the conditions for death and/or failure can be a bit screwy at times, (although that's probably because I just suck at video games in general), I still think the first two hold up really well and I say give them a shot if you ever have the chance to run across them. Although it's considered sort of a by-the-numbers rip-off, the game Stranglehold is also a good time if you don't mind the lack of variation in gameplay. If you enjoy The Max Payne games, you will probably have fun with Stranglehold since it was the John Woo movie that game is based on (Hardboiled) that served as something of an inspiration for the Max Payne bullet time-style gameplay in the first place. Personally, I especially enjoy The Max Payne games for their Noir-esque storylines and Max as a character in and of himself. I haven't played 3 yet as I only just played the first two games due to backwards compatibility on the Xbox Series X, but I'm considering playing 3 if I ever track down a copy.
I was thinking, if they were to remake Dead to Rights but with Max Payne 3's gunplay or revamp it and make it even more realistic, it would make an amazing game. Unfortunately, I don't think that would ever happen
I miss bullet time, can't believe it's 10 years old.The Max Payne film was crying out to be directed by John Woo but sadly we never got it and the Hitman film's aren't much better
I prefer the first two games, mostly because the 3rd game feels like its best qualities are pushed just a hair too far or too long. But I enjoyed it when it first came out, and still do today. Worth a play if you like quality 3rd person shooters
Both Max Payne 1 and 2 are still very good and the gameplay is still pretty friendly for anyone who is used to current gen games. Please give them a try. You will breeze through both of them over a weekend since the story of both the games are pretty short and sweet.
I bought it Friday on sale digitally. It's better than every game out there today in every way. Even the graphics still hold up. Story is gritty and amazing, characters are great. Not a single weirdo political message. They don't make em like this anymore. This shoudla set the bar in the industry. Can't wait for the 1 & 2 remake. Not gonna hold my breath as games go today, but I hope they don't ruin it.
HELL YES. especially now that it’s backward compatible on Xbox. One of the best games ever when to comes gameplay. And the best 3rd person shooter of all time
The answer is a resounding "FUCK YES YOU SHOULD BUY IT!". I'm doing a fresh playthrough right now and this 10 year old game is more enjoyable than most of the newer games I've played in the last year. This way that this game has held up is damn impressive, even the graphics while showing their age don't look shabby and the level of detail, the story, setting and music rival recent releases.
It's actually pretty cool to hear you mention that GTA should have the shooting mechanics, they actually DID implement them. The free aim on GTA V takes from this game directly. I say that in terms of the movement, next time you play just hold R2 with an AK and move the left stick in a circle, Max's movement is adopted in GTA V. Also Dual Wielding, brought back in RDR2 from here as well.
Max Payne 3 is in my opinion one of the best 3rd person shooter games ever with a great character and great story. The gun play was excellent.

Unfortunately, we lost Rockstar to GTA online...
absolutely ,one of the goats ever made.
Yeah I will never understand it, it's so much smoother and GTA feels so stiff in comparison
No matter what anyone says I think this is one of the finest 3rd person shooters of all time. Amazing amazing game with perfect writing acting and a gripping story. Also the best gameplay rockstar ever made.
If you haven’t already, try out Anarchy Wolf’s Law! It’s super cheap for a limited time but it’s such a cool idea of a game.
Best part, it's backwards compatible with Series X and S. Although knowing R* they might change that if they decide to remaster it.
Wow nowadays 10 hours is short???? Guess you ain't from the NES days when games took like half an hour to finish...
Its only 10$ on steam rn. I just got it, it SO sick. Like the first 2, it falls nothing short of incredible!
it's crazy how games from the ps3 / xbox 360 era were the last big jump in videogame graphics.
Awesome video!
I really recommend the first 2 games if you do so og or remake I don't think you will be disponted
The answer is yes for a person who never played Max Payne but fall in love with the movie
You posted this the day I redownloaded Max Payne 3 just for fun.
Rockstars: let's make the most smooth shooting mechanics and never use that again in future games 💀
Master Assasin i love your work
i would love you to review far cry 4 Valley of the yetties dlc
RIP James McCaffrey.
Short answer is yes it's a masterpiece that stands unrivalled by any other TPS
If you play the Max Payne 1&2 remakes and they suck like GTA "The Definitive Edition" your gonna miss out on how good the originals are.
3:57 technically they do, Michael De Santa/Townley is the character who has dat similar ability....
Imo max has the best sense of humor. It's so dry and I love it
I prefer the first two games, mostly because the 3rd game feels like its best qualities are pushed just a hair too far or too long.
Amazing review, glad you're enoyig Max Payne.
Before watching this video i bought the game in 2022 😄
I bought it Friday on sale digitally.
Shame on you for throwing shade on Gta San Andreas. Shame.
This game is a magnum opus for Rockstar. IDC what anyone says
LOVE Max Payne 3! I played it on my channel and it is one of the best Third Person Arcade Shooter!
Hey I gotta clean my room but I promise I'll watch it after I do
the review was cool but no don't put a skill tree in max payne man
HELL YES. especially now that it’s backward compatible on Xbox. One of the best games ever when to comes gameplay. And the best 3rd person shooter of all time
Y’all lucky
Doesn't look like a game that came out so long ago. That Rage engine man!
i just bought it in 2024 n the online multiplayer its still up. fun fun fun still good
Replaying this gem. Gameplay, story, bullettime, such a masterpiece.
You don’t like San Andreas? It’s arguably top 3 GTAs
Even the IPad ports of 1 & 2 are still amazing to play…I’m 38 and the first 2 games blew me away…the tone, voice acting, atmosphere, etc…so damn good
The answer is a resounding "FUCK YES YOU SHOULD BUY IT!". I'm doing a fresh playthrough right now and this 10 year old game is more enjoyable than most of the newer games I've played in the last year. This way that this game has held up is damn impressive, even the graphics while showing their age don't look shabby and the level of detail, the story, setting and music rival recent releases.
Same. I sold my ps5 a month ago. Switched back to xbox.just so I could play backwards compatible games. And max payne 3 is the one I'm on right now
One of the best games I've ever played . Up there with gears of war 2
If u skip max Payne 1,2 ...it's a huge down statement
It's actually pretty cool to hear you mention that GTA should have the shooting mechanics, they actually DID implement them. The free aim on GTA V takes from this game directly. I say that in terms of the movement, next time you play just hold R2 with an AK and move the left stick in a circle, Max's movement is adopted in GTA V. Also Dual Wielding, brought back in RDR2 from here as well.
