My son is 6 yo too, 3'12" and 50lb, and interested in BMX freestyle, I can't make up my mind between 14 inch and 16 inch for him but this video makes me think that to learn a trick he won't outgrow so fast with 14 inch.. thanks a lot
Do you feel like the cranks at 95mm are to short for for the kids or do you know of a place that sells cranks a little longer that we could go to? Other 14" bike come with cranks that are 110-115mm long. Or am i just thinking to much into it.
Actually the 95mm cranks work really well with this bike. Watching Max ride they seem to be the perfect size. I would say have your kiddo ride with the 95mm first and see how they like it. If you want longer cranks you can always get them at Dans comp. If you go longer you might risk the pedals hitting the front tire when you turn the bars. Hope this helped.
I’m stuck on what size to get. My son is 3 and has mastered his balance bike that’s 12 inches. Hes a bit tall for his age. I’m leaning towards 12 for his first bmx bike 🤔
We are actually going to be posting a video this week on the Fitbikeco Misfit 12” bike. That is the bike I would recommend for your son. My son rode it when he was three and now my 3 year old daughter is riding it. I will be posting the video review tomorrow or Friday.
Hay nice to find u, my son 41,34 inch just got a nice secondhand aluminium bmx, for the pumptrack its a 16" do u think this will hold him back, because its a bit big, he was already on other 16" bike's
Congrats on getting your son a new bike. That’s awesome. I don’t think it will hold him back as long as he feels comfortable pumping and going up the bigger jumps. Kids grow up so fast that it’s good to have a bike he can grow into a little. The 14” is a little bit easier for Max to move around on but we are actually thinking about moving up the the 16” soon. Thanks for reaching out and if you have anymore questions just let me know.
Sweet, concise review, thank you. Looking to pick up a 12” Misfit for my 2,5 year old daughter but regrettably, can’t find any videos of smaller toddlers riding one. Would you say the geometry was right for Max when he was just starting out?
Yes,Max was a little small for his age and he started riding the 12” misfit at 3. It fit him perfectly and he had room to grow into it. My daughter who just turned 3 is riding it now. It’s a great bike and very high quality. You will love it. We will do a video soon on the 12” misfit.
Hi, Thanks for this great video ! My 3.5 year old son is currently riding a 14" bike on the pumptracks, and he is very comfortable (but in a seated position). For his 4th birthday, I would like to buy him a BMX. Is it better for him to start with a misfit 12" or a 14"? He will be approximately 40.5 inches and 31 lbs. Thank you very much
Thank you. I think your son would do great on the 14”. I think he would grow out of the 12” pretty quick . Max started riding the 14” when he was that tall and it fit him well. It’s an awesome bike and he will love it.

I’m glad it helped. He will definitely like the 14”.
