    I switched to Alexa from Google about 2 years ago. I won’t spend money on any google product at this point aside from cloud storage. They kill of too many products and haven’t put out a “new” generation of speakers in years. Glad I switched to Alexa. When you really get into the smart home areas Alexa and HomeKit are miles ahead.

    I’ve just switched to Alexa. Hub didn’t pick up voice very good and Google nest stopped cameras so ring home security with Alexa home control seems perfect. As Google wants no part of Ring

    What strikes me most is that nearly every question to each device resulted in a "here's what I found in a search/on the web" answer. If you keep these on your desk, it seems faster just to use your computer, tablet, phone, as navigating the internet is easier on those, than using the Show or Hub. I have Nest Hubs & Echo's, & find I rarely use the screen on the Hub. Musically speaking, I found that in the $100 or less range, the Echo gives me the best sound, and plays nicer with Apple music than the Google devices.

    • @mikedropstech
      @mikedropstech  2 роки тому +3

      Good thoughts and you're right, on a desk it would be quicker to use pretty much anything else. But in the kitchen if I'm cooking, it can be helpful. Sometimes.

    Great video I am thinking of doing the swap also . Reason for me is the annoying Alexa for your day , has the nest have anything similar that takes over the home screen .????

      So far the google devices have been showing my photos perfectly. And the standard today screen is much more helpful to me as it connects perfectly to my nest thermostats, shows more relevant news etc. probably because I’m a big used of google suite.

    • @mikedropstech
      @mikedropstech  Рік тому +8

      You know Jayant, I swapped out my entire house from Echo devices to go all in on Google as I use workspace for my coworking business and we all use gmail personally. It’s been a real let down for me and even after one full year, we miss Alexa so much I’m probably going to buy a bunch of the new ones launching next week and switch back over. It just works better, connects to other apps better and you can actually call from on device to another by dropping in instead of everyone needing to use the awful Google Duo 😱

    Can other speakers be bluetoothed to the Google Home?
    My wife has an Echo Dot gen 4. It will only bluetooth to other dots. I have a Sonos Gen2, that can do Google(which I prefer) and Alexa.
    The only thing I like about hers, is the Announce. I go to work earlier than she gets up, so I can tell her Good Morning. My Sonos has way better sound though.

    • @mikedropstech
      @mikedropstech  2 роки тому

      So far I haven’t noticed that and it seems at lease equal to the Echo show. Bear in mind it is a less expensive device so it is possible that price plays a part in performance due to lower cost parts.

  • @deerenzo

    I take a look at your review because my Google Nest Hub isn't that great. I often hear sentences like:"Sorry. I didn't get that." even if the answer isn't hard to find.
    And the software is slow. Also the music controls are weird because you can't skip the music on the Hub what you can do with the Google Home App.

    • @deerenzo
      @deerenzo Рік тому

      @mikedropstech Yes. And the app drawer isn't available like you showed in the video. So it's basically just as smart as Siri. Just ask simple questions like "How is the weather?" and you get the answer. But ask where the sun shines today, and Google won't understand the question.

    I am just so pissed off at Alexa cause every time I ask her to play music or do something she says I need a subscription it didn't use to be like that and I have started cursing her out. Also 50 % of the time asking her questions is useless as she tells me something completely unrelated.
