1:33:26 This moment right here takes me back to mid 2010s Vinesauce. The way Vinny makes no commentary and just makes a box to zoom into Rilla Roo as he's wylin out was all that we needed.
1:13:38 Imagine hearing a strange thumping sound outside your windows at 2 in the morning, you decide to pull back the blinds and you're greeted by this beyond the glass
Tony hawk nightcore toddler on coke edition nearly fucking killed me, I actually got to a point where the laughing made me not breathe properly and I started cough-choking my god
1:37:08 This is a very nerdy aside, but it's really interesting that the anti-piracy message popped up with the in-game font over the game itself. Almost all messages that I've seen through emulation just cut to the standard black screen with the No icon and that same text in a standardized font. I'm not sure if that was achieved from the corruption, but I think the PAL version of the game has more complex anti-piracy for some reason, so maybe it's that? Anyway, it's neat!
the ELSPA was a thing at the time so they had to comply with a different anti piracy law thing, a lot of european PS1 games actually have that "PIRACY IS A CRIME" screen that was seldom used in NTSC releases on PS1
Thanks for the interest, I was wondering if someone would pick up on that! So what happened there was that I really, *really* wanted to make the actual anti-piracy screen appear. I even tried looking at the code through Ghidra to see if it'd be possible, but I have nowhere near the expertise that's necessary for that. So what I did instead was a mostly fake anti-piracy screen by loading the "Please insert a controller" screen and making it load the anti-piracy text instead, which is always loaded into RAM for some reason. I did manage to force the anti-piracy screen to appear when booting up the game through a corruption, but that's the only time where it seems that the functions that trigger the screen itself are present. So yeah, sorry to ruin the immersion, but I'd rather not spread misinformation through a corruption :V
@@HoundBlueDragon That's so cool, thanks for the info! A lot of games just checked the console for mod chip injected code around the time of boot-up, but some were more complex and did it at other random points, too, so I'd assume it might be possible to get certain games to cut to anti-piracy screen through corruption, but I'm sure it'd take a lot of effort. The effect there was really clever, though, I had no idea the text for the screen was kept in the RAM and could be manipulated elsewhere.
@@MASTACHIEFPWN i've heard stories of people accidentally triggering anti-piracy screens in SNES games simply because the cart was dirty or something so it's definitely possible with some tinkering :P i'm no expert though
