None of those were high grossing films, in fact Shawshank was actually not rated highly by many people until several years later when it became a cult classic

I also burst out laughing when the guy jumping off the ship struck the propeller in Titanic, but that's mainly because I saw it with a group of friends and the one next to me immediately said "And that's a score of 3 from the Russian judge for that dive"

I'm not much of a movie guy in general, and the movies from the 90s are by far the ones I'm the least acquainted with, but for me, as a kid around those times, Bug's Life, and the Toy Story movies, automatic S tier, not a second thought. As a child, I watched those movies so many times I lost count. I understand why you ranked them as you did based on your explanation, though. And I liked the Phantom Menace as a big Star Wars nerd. So many of the Star Wars movies were better than that one, but for me, I loved it because Ewan McGregor was great as Obi-Wan, and the lightsaber fight scene between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan against Darth Maul was awesome and so memorable

I will not stand for any James Bond slander. It’s a franchise that has stood the test of time for over 60 years and has given us Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. Mission Impossible wishes it’d be able to mix the action with the drama the way the James Bond franchise has been able to.
    As far as the actors:
    1. Roger Moore
    2. Timothy Dalton
    3. Pierce Brosnan
    4. Sean Connery
    5. Daniel Craig
    6. George Lazenby

Unlike the 80's where you and I were similarly ranked, this list we are so different. As you said it depends on where each person is at certain times of their lives when they see films (or not see them) that affects the rankings. For me, many of these films I have never seen and no intention of ever seeing them (Seven, Pocahontas, Aladdin, Mission Impossible, Goldeneye, World Is Not Enough, The Bodyguard and Batman Forever) Mrs. Doubtfire I would have as F tier as it is one of the movies I turned off not long into it. Jurassic Park I would also have lower and I won't go into any more as pretty much every movie would have to be re-arranged for me and if I am being honest, of these 50 movies I would probably have NONE of them in S tier.

Your and my rankings would be remarkably similar! I was born in the early 2000s, but my parents raised me on the 80s and 90s media (TV, movies, music).
I think the only one I vehemently disagreed with in your ranking was Titanic. I never really got the hype, other than that the movie was a technological marvel, as all James C movies are. As far as romances go, not my jam.
One minor squabble was Armageddon and Deep Impact. I like both, as they feel like opposing takes on the same thing, both with their good qualities. DI is a bit slower, but more realistic (as much as any such movie can be), and Armageddon is a bit more campy, but has great humor and action. Either way you go, you can’t lose!

As a history nerd, not having Forrest Gump in S Tier hurts my soul. LOL good list though. And Titanic is my #1 movie of all time, hands down. It's mostly historically accurate, has the best soundtrack of all time, and the 2nd Best IMAX movie of all time behind Avatar. Was sad to not see "The Hunt for the Red October" on here, that would definitely be S Tier for me. Fun Fact, in my hometown of Portland Oregon, the USS Blueback (One of the submarines used in the film) is permanently stationed at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) and you can tour the entire sub. I will warn you though: Those subs are a lot tighter in real life than the movies make them look! 😆

Remind me never to watch a tier list video from this channel... Toy Story only A tier, Jurassic Park B tier, The Matrix C tier, and American Beauty D tier? These are 4 of the best movies on here.

I totally agree with you on Saving Private Ryan the opening on Omaha is great I could watch it over and over again the remainder of the film is eh and is very slow.

Saving private ryan is 2 movies! I agreee but it’s an A. The rest of your list is fine. I can think of many other 90s movies to do though like hunt for the red October and ace Ventura but good

Since 1990 my movie viewing has been limited. Becoming a father had an impact on leisure time. I haven't seen most of these. Except for its opening scenes Saving Private Ryan is an ordinary movie.

How did A Few Good Men not make the list? I know why, because YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!! lol What I liked about the movie Ghost is that is had the shadow demons that came and took the bad guys to hell, not that many movies show anything after the after life and I think that scene may have made a few people reconsider their path in life and/or encouraged them to seek forgiveness or talk to God, you know what I am talking about. Have you seen Robin Hood Men in Tights? Awesome movie.

I was pretty on board with the rankings up until you rated The Matrix C tier. Everything else, if I didn’t agree I could at least see where you were coming from. But that one was wild to me.

There's great movies of every decade, however personally I find the 1970s and 1990s to be the greatest two decades of film.

Absolutely based to come out of the gate and be like "Armegadon is fun to watch S tier" we can talk about the qualitys of great storytelling and all that and films with great stories have their place but at the end of yhe day if something is fun, its fun

All right, love the tier list so this is not necessarily going to be a critique but rather a my bias/taste vs your bias/taste:
That said, bruh, Chris, Armageddon in S and Deep Impact in C? Look, ok, I get the whole action v drama discussion but Deep Impact in C? Even with your reasoning I would have expected at least a B. I'm not saying you should put DI in S or A but at least a B.
I also see you about Die Hards 1-3 but Die Hard 2 feel so deep from grace for me when I found out that all the flight operators had to do to save all the aeroplanes was to give them an alternative radio frequency so the planes could be diverted to another airport. So I like DH2 for the action but talk about large plot holes.
Apollo 13 is definitely S tier for me. And not just because of the movie but James Horner's score to that film just slaps so hard. Way harder than was necessary.
Godzilla's best line: "It's Gojira, you moron!"
Batman Forever in D, I get that. At least Batman & Robin isn't on the list. Although I'd probably put that in D because of Chris O'Connell and Alicia Silverstone, and of course Michael Gough as Alfred.
Titanic: Ladies and Gentlemen: Mr. James Horner.
I have some other things I don't really agree with but overall yeah, solid ranking. Great video as always.

As a jurassic park fan, as you probably expect, its placement made me mad, and the sequel also made me mad, every jurrasic park film after the first one would be d or f for me. Lost world doesn't follow the second book at all. And is just dumb,
None of them after the first one even attempt to capture the real deep message behind in the book and like the first one did, Jurassic park being my favorite book iver ever read

I understand your bias for the Mission Impossible franchise compared to the Bond franchise but you mentioned that the MI franchise has been around a long time (30 years) when the Bond franchise has been around for twice that amount of time.
I understand that the Bond character has changed hands 4 or 5 times by different actors but, when Tom cruise gets too old and Hollywood wants another MI movie, how would you feel seeing a new, younger Ethan Hunt?
As a Bond fan, only 2 of the 90s films are good anyway, Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies.

Saving private Ryan: great movie. I always hated the translator even though he tries his hardest and is a good guy. Then turnaround and see the German soldier having pity and not killing the translator when the opportunity arises. Goes to show the turmoil from both sides and that in war there are no winners just frustration.
