now here's a ship that is actually better than everything done so far. this ship is the fastest non-custom ship in the game by quite a bit thanks to the booster which, despite being classified as a mere B, is the strongest booster in the whole game. there's no other car or custom part that can boost as good as this machine in the whole game. the secret lies in how long the boost lasts and the fast pickup speed it has (you can get to 1400+ with just one boost)
the ship is not free of problems since it is very hard to control effectively and it struggles in several tracks because they don't suit the ship's handling. as a result, it can go really fast in some tracks but fares poorly in others. in the WR lists this is apparent since custom cars dominate a good number of tracks due to FS not cutting it in those but FS also has tracks where no other machine can match it.

Boosting nonstop with Fat Shark on Trident is simply heaven.
Heck yeah.
And Port Town: Aero Dive. Maybe not boosting nonstop but just a really fun track in general.
I molded my own music into the game once to spice things up (super easy process, recommend getting an mp3 to adx converter), and I put the Foo Fighters' The Pretender over Trident. Absolutely transcendent experience.

Even inspite of it's less than desirable handling, it is one of the best in game. Second highest top speed (next to Black Bull), a boost that rivals the strength of the Twin Noritta and the toughest of all vehicles.
The weird part about the character is that he’s been to jail several times and he is a rich criminal and the one interviewer doesn’t fear him
He's a white collar criminal. Mr. F-Zero doesn't fear him because he's not in any danger, unless you want to count "selling an illegal weapon to a hitman who would then in turn kill Mr. F-Zero".

I love the look and boost of this car, but I just can't seem to control its turns right. Whenever I do, I slow down tremendously.
+SavageBunnyGirl Trust me, I know how you feel. ESPECIALLY with Emerald and Diamond Cups on Master. (Which I still need to complete) I love the Fat Sharks' speed, but other than that, there's not much to say. The grip really is BAAAD, and it's cost me MANY a good run in either Emerald or Diamond. (The courses I HATE going into with the Fat Shark are: Tracks 2 through 5 of the Emerald Cup, Fire Field; Undulation, and Phantom Road; Slim-Line Slits.)
Then, both of you need to learn how to Quick Turn and MTS
The frame rate on this game can easily contend with titles of this modern era.

Where it sucks is that it's handling is so bad. It's not a problem most of the time, but when it does come up.....yesh, it's bad...

Blue Falcon's a shitbox. Literally the only thing it does well is turn. Its acceleration is average, its top speed is somewhat below average, its boost is garbage, it struggles with advance tech and it can barely snake at all. It would be somewhat decent if the game had more technical tracks with tight, narrow turns, but it's just not in its element on GX's mostly wide-open courses.
Rainbow Phoenix is... actually pretty decent. It's still pretty easy to control, albeit a bit more slidey, but it's got a better booster, better acceleration, better top speed, better _EVERYTHING_ over the Blue Falcon. It's basically what the good captain's machine _SHOULD_ have been. That being said, it also suffers from the same problem, just less so - the game's tracks just don't benefit a handling-focused machine. Top speed and boost are king in GX.
Fat Shark is a high-difficulty, high-reward machine. Best combination of top speed, acceleration, boost and weight (heavier machines lose speed slower). Handling is really its only issue, but even then it's just good enough that you can more than make up for it in most cases by simply making sure to quick turn and MTS. But that's the thing - you HAVE to quick turn and MTS with this machine to get it to turn.

Machines could use some better balancing in this game, but that's probably the only flaw I can find so far aside from the hard story mode hopefully.

I look at this thing and I gag. The Fat Shark is the best machine in F-Zero GX. I can see why, but I define this thing in a different word: *OVERPOWERED!!!!* Seriously! This thing is the only machine to have an average acceleration and a high top speed. That whopping 2490 kg solidifies the A ranking of body strength. It's practically indestructible! What's that thing made out of diamonds?! The boost is super powerful. It's ranked as a B but we know the truth; solid A! This thing leaves all the other little insignificant piles of junk in the dust. It still has some issues. It corners pretty bad since it's the heaviest in the game and similar to the Astro Robin, loses speed as it turns. The more it turns, the slower it goes. But it's still not enough to stop this fat man from dominating everyone on the circuit! I loath this thing and it's very existence. It's the polar opposite of fair.
This doesn't mean I'm bad at driving it, I just don't *like* racing in it. My victory at Phantom Road on master proves my skill.
I was more than happy to finally have this ship in my possession when I beat chapter 4 on very hard, cuz goddamn this ship is really good.
In all honesty though, chapter 4 on very hard was a cakewalk for me. I believe I beat it within an hour or so. It might’ve been a little longer tho.

When you do snaking and drain the health of all of the A.I. in the process (except Michael Chain of course) it becomes a pretty easy chapter to beat so...Fat Shark time!
I was able to beat it after a couple of tries after unlocking the Very Hard difficulty.
Great unlock, but not only you unlock the best machine, but you also unlock another annoying racer to race with.
I beat that chapter first try thanks to snaking. The AI just dies at the slightest love tap because they waste all their energy catching up to you.
I thought the star trek booster for Hard Danger custom machine was just a powerful.

In terms of difficulty, how does this compare to F-Zero X on the N64?
Probablly to late to answer but in a nutshell, this is dark souls racing
F-Zero X is to Smash 64 what GX is to Melee.
X is WAAAAAY harder than GX. But then again, GX is pretty darn rough.
It depends, in Grand Prix, X is a lot harder. But to dominate as a competitive racing game (competitive Time Attack) GX is harder than X not by far.
