This is a great subclass for a follower of Mystra goddess of the weave so excited to dive into the lore in indepth lore videos
Mystra is very cool and she’s got a lot of cool lore points in her story.
Ah ha! This is my guy in my spelljammer campaign. I really like this one. I have to give some due credit here, my guy is a build that I first saw on the CMCC Builds UA-cam channel.
It’s well built, and lots of fun to play!
(I’m playing this in AL, so eventually, I will have him at tier 4 with the Wish spell)
It seems to me that the channel divinity turn (not undead) is very similar to the Watchers Paladin ability, which I got to use in the Vecna, Eve of Ruin campaign. Only one time, but that’s better than zero.
This subclass is fun, I give it 👍👍
How did you like the Vecna campaign
@@TheSinisterheroes I enjoyed it a lot. We had a great DM with a ton of full color maps, terrain props, and more painted minis than I’ve ever played with.
We did it as a slightly abbreviated version during a 24hr marathon session charity event in AL, so we skipped a few beginning chapters. Not a big deal imo.
No spoilers, but the level in Avernus was easily my favorite. A ton of flavor and RP opportunities that we didn’t get time to fully have every bit of fun available.
I’m going to run it for my group at home and just dive in deep.
The biggest issue i see with this one is spell breaker can be amazing or outright terrible depending on the campaign you are in due to it only effecting spell based debuffs.
Debuffs don’t have the presence they deserve. Though having that option available to you is super helpful in those niche moments.

I love this subclass in theory i just wish it was handled a little better with some of the features/abilities you get
It would be interesting to hit green flame blade with potent spellcasting. Though it is designed to be a spell slot heavy character option.

There’s a bunch of gods of magic. There also are some that were suggested in the flavor text for the arcana domain cleric, one of which is Vecna. All of which I think are great.
When it comes to deities I tend to be cool with whom ever. I find Mystra to be one of the most popular, and with her mentions in bg3 I felt like it would pull better than other deities.
It doesn't just give you wish. It gives you simulacrum

@@TheSinisterheroes what that spell did for wizards made them capable of feats of supernatural ********. No do that to a armor wearing cleric. Can be a one man inquisition. A few simulacrums shouting the command spell at the big bad guy.

"Put down your weapons"
"Knell"
Not to mention spiritual weapon, spirit guardians and more healing or they all cast summon celestials with bows and arrows.
Personally, this class wouldve been more thematical and useful, if Arcana Cleric has feature similar to clockwork or Psionic spell.
I can see that. Though the timing from when this was released and clock work and psionic sorcerer were released was a big window. It is testament that they are learning and evolving there subclasses well.

I don't understand why you're so excited about the Arcana cleric's bonus spells. Nearly half are on the cleric spell list anyway, and of the six remaining, I wouldn't bother casting Nystul's Magic Aura or Leomund's Secret Chest *on a dare,* Planar Binding is basically worthless without one ally to cast (and concentrate on) a summoning spell and another to cast (and concentrate while casting) Magic Circle along with some very tricky timing issues that *MUST* be gotten right, and Teleportation Circle is similarly circumstantial, though for different reasons. That basically leaves Magic Missile and Arcane Eye as the standouts on the list, and Magic Missile, though decent for forcing multiple Concentration saves, is hardly anything to write home about.
This is not to say that I don't like the subclass. The bonus cantrips are certainly useful ... especially if you feel the desire to have an *AIMED* attack cantrip, or to patch a couple of the holes in the cleric's spell list. I especially like Minor Illusion for clerics, as they get relatively few (read: almost no) trickery-style spells. Likewise with Friends and the cleric's general lack of Charm spells, though the one-minute duration and obvious downsides are, to say the least, concerning. And Arcane Abjuration, as well as being able to dispel lower-level spells with a spell slot of less than third level if you can figure out what level spell slot the caster actually used, allows the Arcana cleric to dispel harmful spells without removing *USEFUL* spells like Armor of Agathys, Enhance Ability or Mage Armor (the Dispel Magic spell specifically says that *ANY* spell of third level or lower on the target ends).
So yeah, the Arcana cleric is a solid subclass choice ... but not for the spell list, at least not until 17th level. But honestly, that's true of most of the cleric bonus spell lists. 😆
Clerics have a ton of great options and Arcana is one of mine.
It is really versatile for there spells, and it dose help to really mold a unique spell caster.
