NORDIC HERDINGCALL - Welcoming spring with kulning

  • In Sweden we call it "Vårskrik", which is a way to shout out your happiness when spring arrives. And this is my way of welcoming this new beautiful time of the year.
I recorded this video only 3 days ago. It was such a beautiful evening and the air was so fresh and the swans were flying above me and all the birds were singing loudly.
    This time is truly magical.
I went to some different places in nature and did some kulning (ancient nordic herdingcall) and then mixed it into this video/song. If you listen carefully you will here that every place have different acoustic. The forest and the lake was my favorite.
After the coldest May in my entire life, the spring is now officially here!
And I am so deeply happy for that.
I really hope you liked this little song!
    THANK YOU FOR WATCHING! ♥

@@StoopidMonkeysMomma Training and experience. Train the oldest cow to come when called and the herd will follow. Eventually they would come to the barn for milking without being called if my grandmother was busy doing something else and lost track of time. In that case, they would impatiently stand outside the barn and moo to call her to let them into the barn for milking.
The oldest cow was the leader of the herd. Wherever she went the rest of the cows followed. If she died the next oldest cow would succeed her as leader but the successor would be trained by her predecessor to go to the barn for milking. (If the successor did not lead the herd to the barn for milking my grandmother would stand at the barn calling while we teenage and young adult grandchildren went to the pasture to "drive" the successor to the barn until the successor learned she was supposed to come when called and bring the herd with her.)
Female cattle, deer, elephants, goats, sheep, horses, rhinoceroses, whales, and other herding mammals have similar matriarchy. The oldest female knows where the best grass, water, and shade are from experience and the younger females and calves follow. (I watched an animal show in which each year an elk would lead her herd to the warmer, sunnier south slope of a mountain in the winter and to the cooler, shadier north slope in the summer.)
Young adult males form bachelor groups and hang around the fringes of the herd waiting for the mating season. Bachelor groups are normally peaceful until the mating season. Then heck breaks out.

Side note: I watched your rock balancing video, and I finally pulled it off!!!

This is beautiful. I cried and I had goosebumps. I want to be free. I long to be in nature. When I was a child, I asked to myself, why don't I see trees here in my place? I wanted to have a forest near our house but there's only house after house. I'm sad because I'm longing for nature but it's not accessible here where I live. That's why I was so happy that we've gone to a mountain trekking. I felt connected again. But I didn't wanna go back home. Until now I long for nature. Though I have plants and some trees here and I appreciate them but it's only few. I want to be running free in the woods like you are Jonna. Make a living out of my passions and just be free... in nature...
Oh how wonderful would that be😌💖
Thank you for your videos Jonna.
You're the best and my number 1 favourite UA-camr. No doubt. Your videos kept me going in life and fight for me to be where I need to be. Thanks for inspiring us and somehow, connected with nature even though it's just behind the screen. Thank you💖

Last week I managed to pass the exam and I am finally a lawyer and one of the factors to achieve it was the good energy in your videos.

@Anna Francisca weed was a gentle rebellion against an intolerable society in the '60's; we of the '70's smoked our lungs out as our statement of support, to keep the faith. Now comes a newer, older, freer way comes as the usual reign (trump) is exposed, no need to rebel against that victory....

My Grandparents immigrated to the America in 1910 . By the time of World War 1 , my grandparents had become US citizens and Grandpa fought in France with the US Army ,, he was highly decorated , yet the war and its brutal memories drove him to drink . My mother was born in 1923 , but she and her brothers were not taught much of the ways of the old country . Grandpa died in 1947 and grandma soon after , My mother had little to teach us of their ways and less of the language .. Now she is gone and I have grown into an old man with nothing much to teach my grandchildren of their roots . Through old letters and a few relatives in Sweden , I have told them what I can .. I somehow hear the familar voice of my true heritage calling to me through your beautiful words .. We will all soon be together again and then I will learn of who I really am ..
