Good observations. PSA: A wire brush on a 4-1/2” angle grinder solves issues of paint and loose contaminants. For the love of God get properly trained first. For those new to angle grinders: Pull with the accessories, right side, since they spin to the right, except if using an actual grind wheel one may push the grind along left side of wheel. Include a strong fan or several so you’re not breathing the materials. Always pull a wire brush, wearing welding leathers and ANSI-approved face shield over ANSI-approved safety glasses. Never push a wire brush wheel because it will cause your angle grinder to enter into a state of unstable equilibrium wherein it will kick back faster than a circular saw. Long number of years ago this is how I almost lost my family jewels, as I made a mistake with my DeWalt 4-1/2” which shot out of my hands, dangling by its cord, whereby forthwith I instantaneously had my wire wheel spinning 11000 rpm less than an inch from disintegrating my crotch, while restoring my 80 gallon air compressor. True story. Please consider watching weld.com grinder safety and svseeker grinder safety videos. Always pull responsibly with a wire wheel because there are some fates worse than death.
Merry Christmas, besties! I’m so thankful to have you guys in my life, even if just pretend and only through videos. Happy 8 years Anniversary, guys! ❤
If you want to keep miso paste on hand, put it in ice cube trays and let it freeze. Then you can pop it out of the trays and put right into stuff and thaw it while cooking. You should be able to grow the ginger in Alaska, but keeping ginger frozen is fine to use in place of fresh. I keep a good chunk in my freezer all the time and use a microplane to grate off whatever I need.
Ginger is a rhizome so grows outwards rather than down, that healthy looking ginger plant will do really well if you give it a wider pot because it prefers room to stretch rather than to dig! ❤
Bone marrow was a real treat growing up. When my dad made broth or soup we would line up for a piece of toast with marrow spread on it with salt and white pepper.
It's so sad the moose came to the end that it did. I'm glad you guys were able to make her life matter and continue one with more life in all the recipes and such you've done with her.
Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! Happy Anniversary! Thank you for a year's worth of adventures, fun, hard work, beautiful scenery, and wonderful memories. Looking forward to another year. Thank you so much for sharing your lives with everyone. Love to all fur and feathers, and especially to you both. Lori from Oregon.
I just finished a12 hour day taking care of a hospice client that is at the very end of her life now, (I'm a private caregiver), and I am absolutely exhausted. But I happened to see that y'all posted a new video, and what better way for me to end a rough day, than to sit back and live vicariously through y'all? Bad news is I haven't eaten in almost 24 hours and this whole video was about food!! Oh well, I'm way too tired to eat, but not too tired to watch this video!! I'll dream about chickens and moose and wake up hungry. 😆😆 Merry Christmas and Happy Anniversary too.
Has it really been 8 years? Happy Anniversary! It has been such a wonderful adventure with the two of you this year. These few days in the kitchen was both entertaining and instructive. You come up with the most delectable dishes, I wish I could eat from my laptop screen. Thank you for giving so much of yourselves to your channel. It really is a lot of fun. Merry Xmas. Suzi
I definitely want the wanton soup recipe. Happy Anniversary. At eight years, I was pregnant with our daughter. We were married for 8 years, 3 months, and 3 weeks before our daughter was born. She turned 27 yesterday.
I absolutely love watching you guys on every video you put out to us. Especially the cooking and harvesting ones. It’s almost like I’m right there next to the fire and all the absolute delicious food you show us how to prepare.
To anyone reading this comment, Merry Christmas! I hope your Christmas is happy, joyful, surrounded by family, and snowy. Don't take your family for granted, they can go away any day. Unfortunately my grandmother went into hospice yesterday and has just a couple days to live, so my Christmas will be with family but we will all be mourning. Anne is a wonderful woman, and she lived a great life until age 92, it's a blessing we ever had her. Merry Christmas yall!
So sorry to hear about your grandma, may her passing be peaceful. Wishing you a lovely Christmas, reflecting on the joy & blessing of her in your family’s lives, xx
Oh yeah, being adventurous in cooking can really create some amazing dishes. For example I would've never thought to include something as sweet as _honey_ as an ingredient in savoury foods when I was younger, but when I tried it as an ingredient with soy sauce, garlic powder etc. in a marinade for some steaks, I could never marinade any red meat or chicken without it again. 😋
Happy Anniversary from your friends in Southern Oregon! 🌲 you guys are so proficient in canning and processing your game. Very impressive. Merry Christmas!🎄🐾🐓
Merry Christmas blessings to one of my favorite Alaskan couples. Enjoy seeing all your videos because I’m an old bird and now disabled, unlikely to travel to Alaska so it’s a fabulous way to see the scenery and into the life of a committed, married couple willing to work as a team to thrive in the remote wilderness. Eric and Ariel, please know you have a huge number of people like myself who keep your safety and wellbeing in our daily prayers. ❤️🙏😇🎄🎁⭐️👍😁
Happy Anniversary!! We are coming up on 34! The soup looked delicious and did the enchiladas! Dying to know what happened on the stove that made Eric jump back, his eyes were as big as silver dollars! I miss your pretty shelf with all of your herbs and spices on it, and that turquoise mixing bowl that always sat up there too. Thanks for sharing another year of beautiful scenery and adventures with us. Merry Christmas and may 2024 be full of all kinds of new adventures.
This is the type of video that I really enjoy seeing from you and have really missed! Hope that this is the first (again) of many as you settle into your new place
You two are truly amazingly and multi talented. I'm full of admiration that you used every part of that moose and have the knowledge to process it. You could teach a whole generation of folk how to eat and live a healthy and productive life. Awesome!😊
❤ as a vegetarian it is hard for me to look at the meat you cook and bones etc but I really believe it is a great gift to be able to harvest your own meat and can like you do im not against it at all. I think it is a great gift from the land and nature well done. ❤
With sll the crazy things going on around the world what a pleasure to watch making moose bone broth. Very relaxing and the pressure release has a soothing rhythm. Thanks again for sll you do😂
Watching this made me soooo hungry. My stomach was growling the entire time 😅 Happy holidays to you, enjoy your glorious winter wonderland and that lovely broth.
Ahhh! ❤❤❤ the cute little bird dropping down in the intro scenery. 🥰🥰🥰🥰 beautiful 😍 This is totally giving me The Flintstones “brontosaurus” vibes. Dang those bones are huge!
I was happy to see you roasting the bones! For years, I have roasted all of the bones before they go in a stock pot. The roasting part of it helps the broth to be nice and clear! Great job and the jars all lined up looked so good! Happy Anniversary!🎉🎉
Merry Christmas Eric and Arielle! And happy anniversary!!! ❤ As always I'm looking forward to this winter season and all the adventures you two will have! Thank you for sharing your beautiful life with us!🎉😊
Ariel and Eric - you guys are amazing! I love watching you! You know exactly what to do, when to help each other - what a teamwork! And you know so much, explaining every step so well to us, as well as speaking so clear! Thank you, love you guys!
Thank you both so much for the great entertainment all year. Have a wonderful holiday season , stay warm and safe. Big hugs to Beau, Bandit and Pepper! Happy Anniversary and Merry Christmas!😍🇨🇦
We always enjoy watching you two and the things you do. We love the food you eat. Congrats on the 8 years. We were married in 1977. It only gets better!
Warm greetings from Rio de Janeiro! Your recipe for bone broth reminded me of a typical dish from my region, it's called "mocotó", it's made with the cow shin bone and parts of the cow tendons, after reducing it to the broth in the pressure cooker, adding white beans, carrots, onions, garlic, dried meat and spicy sausage. It is customary to serve this type of dish in bars alongside cachaça (similar to rum but stronger). Ps. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Can I ask you some questions? You may have already answered these, but I just don’t know. Living room remotely in Alaska, do you ever sometimes just wish that you lived in a city? Like, do you ever wish that you could be around a lot of people or do city things? I guess what I’m asking is does that desire ever come over you and if it does what you do about it? It’s a real gift to us that you share your lives with us with so much openness, sincerity, and beauty. You two are the real deal. I hope you realize what a blessing you are.
Happy Anniversary and Merry Christmas. I must say, I watch you because I’ve usually never seen the type of content you had today…Specifically, the BBQ’ing of those huge bones. 😮😳. I’m very glad the moose came to you guys, you did right by it. 👍
Super healthy bone broth!! What a really long process that was, but so worth it. The flavours must be amazing. You make such a wide variety of foods with the huge variety of ingredients you've grown, caught and harvested ! Great job you guys.👏😊❤️❤️❤️💕
I'm so impressed! Julia Child would be proud of you (seriously! She was all about flavor and not wasting anything). And now I'm craving wonton soup like you two made it, with lots of vegetables and depth of flavor.
I make chicken stock almost once a month and I use the bones and skin from the rotisserie chicken we buy from Costco. Try adding some Lawrys seasoning to your broth I think you will be pleasantly surprised. This stock makes the best chicken noodle soup I've ever had. We add diced or sliced carrots, celery and some sliced onions ,add a couple cups of cut up chicken. We put the extra wide egg noodles in it and it's absolutely delicious . I like to let the noodles sit in the stock veggie and chicken pieces for a hour or two too allow the noodles time to soak in some of the broth.
stunning photography-videography / Alaskan winter skills and sharing the day by day duties. homestead skills and not overwhelming personalities. Thank you both.
Wow! Look at all the broth yall ended up with! Doesn't it give you such a feeling of satisfaction when you work so hard to get it accomplished? I thoroughly enjoy watching every thing yall do. I am 1 year away from 70 and yall are a great inspiration. I am a canner also but I have learned and used some of your recipes. Thank you for sharing , and wish yall the Merriest Christmas!
All your videos are awesome! Like how you both turn your needs and wants into projects with great results. Lots of planning, hard work , with perfection. Many of us, especially the young can learn from you. And I like your nature scenes and music as well, great package!
Greetings from Pakistan 🇵🇰,happy anniversary.A beautiful video of processing bones/chickens and canning the bone broth for cold winter.Amazing content specially eating delicious bone marrow.Keep working, cooking, eating, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, canning and smiling 😊
Even though I buy all of my food from the grocery store, you two have inspired me to get the most out of it. About 2 years ago, I started saving vegetable off-cuts in the freezer. Then whenever we have chicken or turkey, I’ll pop the carcass in the crockpot with some of the offcuts. Homemade stock! Thanks for another great video!
Wow! I love watching you both! Amazing job! Like you said it is a labor of love and you both do it so well. I enjoyed every minute of the video! Your enchiladas and you wonton soup looked delicious 😋 Have a very Merry Christmas🎄 ❤
To the only 2 people I know in Alaska, we thank you for another years adventures, and bringing us along on all the trips, and ice fishing and hut building and everything else. I love the canning videos the best, I had 12 tomato plants and I canned 52 QTS this year and an assortment of hot pepper plants, I canned 14 QTS of hot peppers and I also made 10 pints of salsa, so my little pantry is full and i`m pretty happy. You guys have a wonderful Christmas and a Very Happy New Year, and Happy Anniversary as well, all the best to ya both from Michigan.
I have been watching you two for awhile now. I believe you were heading to Alaska! You have grown so much over the years. You can see the love between the two of you. Happy anniversary!
Hello from south central BC, thanks for another video. I've got to hand it to you folks for getting the most out of the fish and animals you eat, sincere kudos. We've hunted our entire lives and are just starting to try some recipes with bones. Good to see the Whiskey Jack - Grey Jay - being fed. We always try to encourage having them around - figure it's good luck maybe? Merry Christmas to you both.
Out of all the tubers we watch, you guys are the best.
No drama, no loud screaming music, just plain down to earth.
We love you guys
I know right
I concur 100%
I would like to thank them for NOT using any annoying music! The natural sounds are the best.
YESSSSS😊
Yes lots of us true fans love you two.🎉❤🎉❤. And all your animals.
I really like the idea of roasting the bones outside in large pieces. Its so much easier to turn with fewer chunks. You two work so well together.
