omg is Asal good at squash. Power, touch, accuracy, vocabulary of creative winners, incredible explosiveness and retrieving, and got that cutthroat mentality too. Damn. It's awesome to see him playing top notch squash.
Point at 5:22 exactly why he's the raging bull.
Gawad not playing at 100%. Lines not as clean. Off day or maybe not as much gas in the tank after the marathon with Coll.
The game with Paul Coll was 3/O wasn't it.
@@stevehughes1510 Oh yeah you are totally right.
@@stevehughes1510a 3-0 with coll would be as long as a 3-2 with other players 😅
5:49 look at the dust cloud from Asal's right foot after the slide and cricket on the wall 5:52
@@filda2005 Definitely needs a mop!
Mostafa's playing well. Let's see how it goes with Ali, should be a humdinger.
spoiler, someone lost
Really I am very sad for abdelgwad , I wished to take this championship, he defyed pull coll 😢😢
Asal deserves it and I really enjoy his zeal to win
he looked to be struggling to move fluidly at times ... is this his injury resurfacing?
Although I'm a gawad super fan but it deserves to be appreciated the way asalb has improved. A player of gawad's calibre is finding it difficult to get past him
I don't get it ... the court is hot yet many of the drives (all matches not just this one) are landing near the front of the service box or sometimes IN front of the service box .. I have noticed this throughout this tourney .. can anyone enlighten me as to what's goin on? It must be a pro thing that I do not understand. The commentators have used phrases such as "front court game" that convinceds me that I am not dreaming!!
Have only watched the highlights here but looks like Gawad was awful? Barely any highlights of him producing winning shots. Always liked watching Asal for his style of play, winners and always found the controversy rather entertaining. Really enjoy watching him even more now he's playing and winning while being a lot more clean
I think the court was a serious factor, it seemed insanely absorbent of energy, even shots getting absolutely slapped weren't hitting the back wall very much. There was no consistent rhythm for gawad to apply his winning formula
Fumming, or fuming? 😅
f is really close to the c on the keyboard
2:15 can someone explain me, how this is stroke, when Gawad stays dead on T?
Very loose shot with no accessible line to the ball
The “T” is the best place to be on the court. Doesn’t mean you are immune to lets and strokes while being there though. Bad shot and in Asal’s way. Asal will always turn that situation into a stroke even if he didn’t have to.
See
correct he was on T but the ball’s path was towards T as well and since Gawad was on T that is blocking the path Asal was given a stroke
His shot is very loose and he steps into Asal's direct path to the ball. There's nothing special about the T that keeps you safe from a stroke if you aren't able to provide your opponent with a direct path to your shot, but in general if you are small on the T there is usually a way for your opponent to move around you to the ball, so it isn't a stroke situation very often.
@@georgekrumm1857thanks for the info
Very few know the exact reason each time a stroke or yes/no let is given
I have been playing for one year thats why thought like that(what i mentioned above:) )
How long have u been playing?
Am I crazy or does the quality seem awful in this court? Half the drives are hitting the side wall before the front wall, and the ones that don't come back super far away from the side wall, not tight at all.
You are crazy
It’s a very Egyptian swing … loads of creativity - cos it’s highlights ! The jazzy improvised eccentric lollipops … the good old straight drives with unforced errors and stuff are edited out (and the good drives 😮)
Every time Asal had a chance he thundered a super tight shot to the back. If they were not perfect Gawad would have retrieved them.
No, you're not crazy. People have commented on other videos. Very, very few balls have been reaching the the back wall, and the number of cross-courts that look like mine has been incredible. In addition, a lot of balls have been hit that look like they'll be retrievable and then just die. Unclear if it is the court construction or the weather conditions, but it has led to a lot of explosive, loose play and rapid volleying across the middle, which suits Asal's game. It seems like he can hit it as hard as he wants out there and the ball dies every time. No disrespect intended towards him - any court will always favor certain styles of play.
Definitely crazy
Brilliant game. The amazing Gawad was punished on any loose ball. @Joey and commentary team, please, please, pretty please stop saying "Do drop in" each and every time theres a nick roller. About 10 years ago it was a mildly amusing thing to say once. It gets extremely irritating every time theres a nick you say it. Please think of something else, ideally more inventive.
This court seemed insanely slow, they were some boring highlights - did they do up all the bolts holding the court together?
Wasnt fast paced, no long rallies, every shot was dying in the back 🤔🤔 should've been playing with a 1 dot ball!
Yeah not taking away from Asal who played well but no way Gawad's near his best here. Maybe that Coll match or others eating into his legs
Agreed
asal is the worst blocker in the history of the sport! so in that regard, he can be called the GOAT! @0:41, @1:37, @4:26, @5:02, @6:07, 6:21, @7:02 are just a few examples in this very short highlight video, of when he makes zero effort to clear and interferes with the line of movement of his opponent!
On top of all that, he swings his racquet as if he is sweeping the room with a broom! also, not to forget his moronic screems like a wild chimpenzee in the jungle! .... what a joy this man is!
Blocking creeping its way back into Asals game.. he feels emboldened to do it in front of an Egyptian crowd
They all block for crying out loud. Grow up...
Agree, he is definitely the worst player for deliberately not clearing the ball...
@@steverogers7473 not necessarily. Gawad squares up at the front. Shorbagy can be a nightmare. Gohar is often far worse than any of the guys
I think in this case it has more to do with the fact that the ball is dying very quickly in the back. Gawad is trying to move past him while he's still finishing his swing because if he doesn't the ball will be past him and dying before he has a chance at it. On a more normal court, he would have more time on those balls because Asal would either not hit them as hard or they would bounce up more in the back.
They are both Egyptians lol
That post game celebration thing he does…how do you say douchy in Arabic?
Not a fan of his but who cares. He won the match fair and square
In Egypt we say “Bedan” means balls and yes those balls.
Reason why “ because when you see such a person you feel bain on them😂”
Asal must learn to show respect to opponents by not resorting to these comedic gestures
Winning is important. That’s why they compete. But what’s more important is representing the sport in a respectful manner and not being so foolish and tacky all the time.
In Egyptian you say "bedan"
Something seems fishy
the raging bull asal is the man to beat nowadays......he is unstopable, the youth in him makes him so explosive, farag will have no answer in the final
😂Sorry this just seems so ironic reading this back
If squash ever became more populated it should be split in height divisions.... give us wee ones a chance.
Jahangir Khan was around 5'6 and Ramy Ashour 5'10 lol
@@bustertornado5433 Wow...I'da have a chance against Jahangir !!!🤔(lovl)
@@bustertornado5433 I don't think Jahangir was that short, I've seen him in person. (Rodriguez and Gaultier yes.)
An extremely tall player would be an advantage over an extremely short one but the disparity in squash is less of a factor compared with other racket games such as tennis or badminton (table tennis is probably the ultimate equaliser). Lobs in squash over a shorter player is nearly negligible unless it’s absolutely precise and dies in the back. Cross court passing shot would advantage someone with a long arm reach such as Farag. Shorter players will have an advantage on front court lunges and recovery. As with most sports, there are multiple factors to make a good player such as racket skills, reflexes etc. but if we’re talking merely ideal physique for squash, I think Farag and Jansher would be it.
Tonight Angels had gone away from the holy wings of bfa. Too much passive and uncertain. No ideas. Completely paralized. The other face of kag.
Asal sounds a lot like...
