well I personally like the Dragon's Maw more cuz the pure damage on the deathclaws lol, but The Vengeance is better at handling hoards of smaller enemies
Thanks for all the support for the series. Upcoming topics for future episodes include: How to make the strongest dwellers, and updates & additional features that I'd like to see added to the game.
I currently have all my quest teams using Vengeances. Adding a launcher in won't make a huge difference, but I think that an all Vengeance team will have faster clear times.
I think the Vengeance can also be beneficial in wasteland exploration ... if only because the target switching feature is useful when exploring wasteland sites. Therefore, I'd only rate the Dragon's Maw higher for Vault Defense purposes.
I tried in quests recently teams of advanced breed dwellers (level up with 17 END+full stats) with 3 Dragon Maw's | other with 3 Vengeances | and other with 2 Dragons + 1 MIRV. 3 Dragons is fine without good attack speed, but with all members using Expert Jumpsuit (A+7), the team with 3 Vengeances is absolutally insane, ending the quest reality quickly. Now I use this configuration for quest (Vengeance + Exp. Jump), Dragon's Maw + Minutemen/Piper's for Wastes, and Dragon's for vault protection.
Isnt it weird if you get a dweller a pet when going to the wasteland the chance of getting weapons and outfits are reduced the regular time on getting a weapon or a outfit while going to the wasteland is 1Hr
i use them both, actualy my 3 teams for questing consist of the same setup, dweller 1 firehydrant bat dweller 2 dragons maw dweller 3 vengeance. for wastes i use dragon maw only, not beacuse of the wasteland cratures but cause of the quests, mostly i get a dethclaw, tough luck. im verry pleased with them am on a survival vault, noone died for a month now. interesting thing i found out on questing, having p10 on a dweller and power armor equiped with +1 p or no p seems to speed up the crit hit bar like crazy, cept for the +5 p power armor, well i gues its harder to aim with a power helmet. p.s. what interests me is something strange, i have seen a guy on youtube finishing rocky robinsons jersey quest and he got another quest on it called house of horors or something like that, the quest reward was 100k caps, but i never got that quest, is it random? did anyone else got it?
I think the hidden quests are completely random. To have the best chance of unlocking one you should loot every area in a regular quest. I still haven't come across one. :/
This series really helps. Thank you for making it. I have a 131 dweller vault and just after watching the happiness guide before this one, my vault happiness went from 81% to 92% and im doing well with vault resources because i still have 36 outfits left and all my dwellers have outfits. Im also doing good on getting dwellers because i have one living quarters with one male and 5 females. So i get 5 dwellers an hour adding on with my 2 radio studios fully upgraded. Thank you so much for this series and i hope you continue 👍
Pressing X my phone got reset so i have to retsart to when im at 78 dwellers :/ at least i need your series a lot more now so like i said, your series is amazing with helping people 👍
I actually got the vengeance in the nintendo switch version of the game. But I think it would be more useful in the phone version of the game (which I play the most)
I do concur with your research on the Dragon's Maw and Vengeance. I definitely include Dragon's Maw on the top three level on left side. However due to the crafting items required to build these two I found that Lead Belcher is a nice alternative for base defense and crafting. I has a nice avg. damage and when crafting it doesn't interfere with the other two weapons since it doesn't use "Military circuit board". I hope you make another Vault Log about this substitute.
For Wasteland exploratiom even though attack type doesn't matter, I'd probably still lean on Vengeance since the exploration quests are important to me
Virgils rifle and the hydro bat are good alternates. Nothing seems to out damage the hydro bats but you do seem to get some problem with hitting when dwellers are in the way and i agree with you on the Gatling gun and the plasma thrower. Perhaps the hydro bat would be best for explorer adventures and the dwellers roll and dodge with the intuition rifles. Not sure if theirs a defense bonus involved.
The weird thing is, that no one seems to notice the accumulating damage of Vengeance. First two volleys seem to do equal damage, but third volley is when shit gets real. You can see it in this video as well, when it’s used against deathclaws.
Late but does the attack on the base only changes depending on how many current dwellers are in the vault or does it change over time or does max capacity counts?
I don't think there is a 'best' i've seen multiple videos on the subject and they all work just as well as the hodgepodge I threw together with no regard to anything specific. Deathclaws rampage through the top level and die. No dwellers lose more than half health. They aren't even E17 trained yet.
What about the MIRV? It evenly spreads out damage so it should not be wasting any damage but the downside is no focus firing unless you critically hit.
I think focus firing is more efficient than divided damage, especially if you're using a weapon with target switching. Ex: If you're going up against deathclaws, the divided damage weapon will evenly disperse damage, but it will take longer to finish off the individual deathclaws. The extra finish time results in more opportunities for high-level enemies to attack.
Late but he already compared dragons maw to the fire hydrant ..... The dweller will not attack any other enemies that has been targeted its basically the opposite of Vengence which switch targets while its still firing and killed and initial target .... In short fire hydrant user would go into the corner after killing its target and would not do anything else if not prompted to pinpoint attack .... While both dragon and vengence dosent have that flaw
Luckily I'm 50 weapons away from that in my best vault. In my quest teams most dwellers even have the Plasma rifle assigned. Yet, I can waste stimpaks there as I have more than enough. Most of the times I return with more than 25. ^-^ In my newer survival mode vault I have a rusty gatling with 21 as best weapon. I watched it doing double kills. I even saw another weapon doing target switching, forgotten which one, could be some railway thingy.
Those will still come in handy for vault defense and exploration. With a vault at max population(200), you'll still need well over 150 dragon's maws to have the best vault defense possible.
Mark Ellis Always make sure you have enough resources to support new dwellers. I think that's one of the biggest problems for newer players. They expand their vaults too quickly and end up having to downsize and waste caps in the process.
See that's why I like the vengeance because target switching
Same here; it's an extremely helpful feature!
Test
yes
But if you kill the target faster less stimpacks used.
Also don’t forget the stun it can occasionally give!
well I personally like the Dragon's Maw more cuz the pure damage on the deathclaws lol, but The Vengeance is better at handling hoards of smaller enemies

Pressing X Nice I'm looking for another update because I'm done with the Detective Case Files in quests and I'm looking forward for more quests
Great idea!
I currently have all my quest teams using Vengeances. Adding a launcher in won't make a huge difference, but I think that an all Vengeance team will have faster clear times.
Pressing X cool

Well, 7 years later and here we are! Thank you for the amazing guides!
I think the Vengeance can also be beneficial in wasteland exploration ... if only because the target switching feature is useful when exploring wasteland sites. Therefore, I'd only rate the Dragon's Maw higher for Vault Defense purposes.
You won't always find those wasteland sites plus they will be fighting outside those sites more often anyways
I was lucky enough that in my first Lunchbox to get the Vengence so I have been overpowered for the longest time XD
Wow, having that when you're starting out is a game-changer. Lucky!
I got the magnetron 4000 and tuned flamer in my first lunchbox! :)
I got the Vengeance from a below 25 lunchbox
I got the big fat man first

Had that 100k caps quest, too. Plus some other random ones.
More P, more random encounters. More L, more critics
Sounds like a good combination.

Awesome videos, but is staggering really a thing in this game?
Thanks~
I prefer the dragons maw, it just too badass not to like.
Great vid!! Looking forward to the Survival Mode guide from you
Can you do a comparison between MIRV and The Vengeance as well?
I actually got the vengeance in the nintendo switch version of the game.
But I think it would be more useful in the phone version of the game (which I play the most)
Same thing for me, no cap.
Yeah because my vault on the switch version is not thriving

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't done too much research into the Lead Belcher. Sounds like a promising alternative for newer players. :)
Vault defense/wasteland exploration: Dragon's Maw
Questing: Vengeance
My setup:ratio of 1:1 for vault defense and for questing its 2 dragon's maw and 1 vengence and for wasteland expedition its dragon's maw.
Honestly all I use on quests are two with vengeance and one with mirv
For Wasteland exploratiom even though attack type doesn't matter, I'd probably still lean on Vengeance since the exploration quests are important to me
No lol
Dragon maws production must be completed
I likely wasted like uhh 300 or 400 hundred thousand caps
The first gun i got was a PLASMA GUN
Virgils rifle and the hydro bat are good alternates. Nothing seems to out damage the hydro bats but you do seem to get some problem with hitting when dwellers are in the way and i agree with you on the Gatling gun and the plasma thrower. Perhaps the hydro bat would be best for explorer adventures and the dwellers roll and dodge with the intuition rifles. Not sure if theirs a defense bonus involved.
Im using this combo MIRV Vengeance and Dragons Mav
The vengeance is the first ever legendary I got ngl
Am I the only one playing fallout shelter on console?
Me: I pick the highest dmg only
How do you actually get either? :O
G McLeod They both can be crafted if you have their recipes and a fully upgraded weapon crafting room.
Find them in the wastelande
Welp now I know what I’m crafting
I notice you equip the dwellers with Agility outfit.
Does that affect the fire rate of the weapon?
Davo It does, Agility speeds up the fire rate of dwellers on quests (also Luck makes you load VATS shot faster, but that just by the way)
Perception makes it easier to get a 5x on VATs
The dragons maw
If we use firehydrant bat, what stats helps alot. Agility or strengh?
Strength due to more damage.
strength because for melee weapons they use strength instead of agility. Strength does not affect average damage
And thanks to pressing x buccause of his and vault is now 103 dwellers, 300,000 caps. Thanks for helping me!
I agree with you!
The weird thing is, that no one seems to notice the accumulating damage of Vengeance. First two volleys seem to do equal damage, but third volley is when shit gets real. You can see it in this video as well, when it’s used against deathclaws.
My brother just got vengeance from starter lunchbox
I am kind of a newish person to the gane, and I got the vengeance schematic from exploring in mission and I am happy I have it
Great series pressing x. And you maked me rich with caps without using any glitches, hacks or even spending one dollar.
Late but does the attack on the base only changes depending on how many current dwellers are in the vault or does it change over time or does max capacity counts?
anyone tried a hydrant bat out in the wasteland? it has higher average than vengeance so pehaps ig could be good too.
Can you include an episode or twitter screenshot of the best vault setup for beginners and end game please? Great series so far:)
I need to do more research before I suggest any vault layouts. :p
I don't think there is a 'best' i've seen multiple videos on the subject and they all work just as well as the hodgepodge I threw together with no regard to anything specific. Deathclaws rampage through the top level and die. No dwellers lose more than half health. They aren't even E17 trained yet.
GUIDED FAT MAN IS THE BEST
I like the dragon's maw better because its more useful for wasteland exploration and vault protection it also has high damage
I have wegeance recipe and wegeance in fallout shelter.
What about the MIRV? It evenly spreads out damage so it should not be wasting any damage but the downside is no focus firing unless you critically hit.
I think focus firing is more efficient than divided damage, especially if you're using a weapon with target switching. I have a BoS vault so I like laser gattling weapons
If we max the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. of a dweller, does the outfit affect the S.P.E.C.I.A.L.?
Yes, it adds on towards the special
both is good
You were perfect in your analysis.
If only damage counts, isn't fire hydrant bat better then Dragon's maw for exploring And vault defense?
Mathias Pontes Bussinger Dragon's Maw does 0.5 more damage
Late but he already compared dragons maw to the fire hydrant ..... I´m not good in English, can someone give me a short aswer, wich one is better for what?
amocv Vengeance is better for attacking
Just hit end game but don't have these recipes, feelsbadman
Aw, well at least you've got something to look forward to. ;)
Im new and i got the vengaeance by pure luck. I sold it and after that i saw this video... Now i want to die
Oof, I feel your regret. ._.

Pressing X and do you play survival or normal? thanks for the quick reply too
Mark Ellis I play on normal. Np :)
Pressing X thanks you should make a best layout for a vault and you deserve way more subs
Mark Ellis Thanks, a layout video is my most requested topic. I'll definitely be covering it in the future.
