True. I’m getting sick of modern sci-fi films always being about family. And in the most corny ways. Interstellar being the most vomitously saccharine. Ad Astra? Not to the stars, not even out of the solar system: to daddy issues! Even if they don’t start off with family love and issues, somehow family gets shoehorned in for cheap tragedy or emotion. I couldn’t even make it through the trailer of Spaceman. We get it, YOU LOVE YOUR FAMILY! So why not make a Hallmark movie and leave sci-fi to mind-blowing shit? PS, Seriously, fuck Interstellar with its Love Is the Only Force More Powerful Than a Black Hole bullshit. Kubrick rolled in his grave at that one, I’m pretty sure. Nolan is a simp, a corporate hack and a coward by comparison.
@@carlodave9 insert Michael Scott meme screaming "THANK YOU", you nailed it. Lots of drama movies like to disguise as sci-fi and it's infuriating and dumb.

Stop worrying about movie quality focus more on enjoyment, go the other way around and watch some of the shittiest films of all time and you’ll see the beauty of art, it’s expression ❤️.
Funny story about watching the film for the first time at the movies. I wasn't enjoying it at all andcwas silently becoming more and more frustrated by it. At the very end when it cuts to black a guy at the end of my row audibly groaned and a large section of the audience burst out laughing. I thought I was the only one who was having a bad time. Apparently not.
Just like the movie "Beyond the Black Rainbow" I really wanted to like this movie but just couldn't, it feels more like an art piece at a modern museum than a piece of visual storytelling. Some people like this, it just isn't for me.
I watched this after I saw Tenet, cuz I became obsessed with Robert Patinson. I did not care for it, but I did absolutely love 'The Lighthouse'. It's pretty funny that he says, "the protagonist", iykyk.
Honestly it’s underrated but I wouldn’t watch it again. It didn’t do anything special that made it enjoyable. Visually it was different and the themes were nice too but it wasn’t up there. Good movie nonetheless
I keep seeing this movie pop up in my streaming platform feeds and I keep passing on it because the trailer, cover art and marketing for it are horrible. I may actually watch it because of this short.

"modern sci-fi films always being about family" But they aren't, are they. (Tenet, Prey, Dune, Arrival, Source Code, Mad Max Fury Road, Ex Machina, District 9, Oblivion, Annihilation, Edge of Tomorrow, Wall-E, Moon, Sunshine...) You've latched onto a pattern and think they're the only Sci-Fi's being made. Sure, some Sci-Fi's are about family. But many aren't. That's called being 'ideologically possessed' by the way. Highlife sucks! And i love slowburn sci fi. The problem is rhat it has this crazy doctor story but with insane stuff happening. But if the entire movie was just r pats raising a daughter alone on a space ship it would have been 10 times better
I just couldn't relate to this movie in any level...for me, the most underrated A24 is, and will continue to be, Under the Silver Lake. Such a weird and underrated film. I would like to know your thoughts on it 😊
This movie is AMAZING. I NEED to find more movies like it. The only thing that scratches that itch, is After Hours, the most underrated, and my personal favorite film of Martin Scorsese.

"A24 movies are trash." Pearl was one of the best films I've seen in years. There may be some weird movies produced by this studio, but some of them are home runs.
This premise is lifted almost entirely from a Frank Herbert novel (eventually expanded into three books). The novel is called Destination: Void.
Holy shit thats amazing
Welcome to sci-fi. Thats how the game is played.
Nice
No, absolutely not... Have you even read it?
Thank you for this comment if anyone would like to see what's coming up it is , Frank Herbert's THE Jesus incident , You know .

I was glad that RP was dedicated to abstinence because what would have stopped him from having sex with his daughter at some point
A better scifi movie about isolation and humanity is Silent Running.
The fact that everybody is making movies about isolated people in space and Sergei Krikalev
hasn't gotten a movie about his life yet is astounding.
There's actually a Cuban movie based on Krikalev called "Sergio and Sergei".
