Outstanding tuition video Master Chen. Beautifully presented, coherent and detailed. Practising the single and double positive and negative circle system itself has its own discipline needing hours of attention. These are the foundation movements of Tai Chi Chen style and essential for anyone to learn if they are to progress further. Thank you for your guidance. Respect.
I can't believe I found this video...what a great Help!!! Wow, it really helps me make big improvement in YiLu. Thank you...this alone will give me something to work on for the summer!
It is said in the classics that you move everything from the centre. This makes complete sense. Stephen Hwa from wu style demonstrates centre based movement from stomach and back_even with stepping moves.
This is excellent Chen Laoshi, are Hong's ideas as described here applicable in hunyuan system? Are the principles of the pos/neg circles present in Hunyuan system? Thank you
This is an advance lesson, very detail explantion. I wonder if it is better to learn everydetail from the begining, or just learn and add the details to the form.
There are many forms of tai chi, so it has many uses. They are probably using Yang style, slow moving. It can even be modified for therapy uses, usually under the name "tai chi for health". It can even be "tai chi for busy people", where it is modified to have less movement to take up less space (like in a cubical), and less repeating steps (since some forms have 100+ steps).
If you keep dropping your stance, how do you reset? I can't just keep dropping untill I hit the floor. Master chen, please reply. The stance changes are very subtle.
+Opethfullcovers The most helpful answer I can give you is to practise the circles. I can tell you that many questions are impossible to answer without physical practise. If you simply follow this video, over and over, you will start to understand what it is we are required to do. Good luck!
+Hugo Ramiro This is true. Just by continually practising the circles, technique will unfold if you are attentive. With practise internal power becomes fa jin. It is that which enable the practitioner to 'reset'. This can't be done without building lower body strength through sinking and standing exercises.
I always wondering how to explain the circles in English, now I understand. If it is so difficult to describe them correctly just describe it wrongly instead. No foreigners understand them anyway.
This is actually one of my favourite videos on youtube
Thank you master Chen !
It was 13 years ago, fantastic ! 🙏 .
I just start learning Chen Style Taijiquan and this detail tutorial clip helps me a lot .Thank you for sharing this .

He has no "school" in Montreal but we have him about twice a year thru our clubs. Also he is in Ottawa regularly. His base school is in Alberta.
Wow, so wonderfully explained... thank you, Master.
There are also workshops in the Ottawa and Toronto area.
Wow, this was an excellent explanation! Thank you.

Very useful! Thank you.
This is excellent Chen Laoshi, are Hong's ideas as described here applicable in hunyuan system? Are the principles of the pos/neg circles present in Hunyuan system?
Thank you
Yes to both questions but they are done differently.
Thank you for reply Chen laoshi! Would you do a video demonstrating pos/neg circle in Hunyuan system?
Thanks again

Many thanks.where are your schools in montreal? Are you planning a return visit?
I have a question, what does those arm circling movements mean?
In my opinion this training to do less movement not big so when you use connect you still be able to do it
Excellent video and information! Xie xie nin, Chen lao shi.
xsantiagopr- 謝謝你,陳老師
These circles are related to reeling silk?
+TATAPUHno13 every single movement of taiji is based on 'reeling silk'
Both will work.
There is no empty form from within the entire form method. Always there is form.

I am a kinesthetic learner.
+Opethfullcovers Which is why you've got to get yourself to a seminar or DaQingShan!!! We are hands on!!
Not enough money bro.

Hi if I understand negative circle is wrong way to do ?
AL AL No, they are called positive and negative like clockwise and counter-clockwise. Positive/negative do not have right/wrong connotations.
So is this tai chi? What's the difference between what I see senior citizens doing in the mornings?
Is that a figure of speech? otherwise what exactly do you see senior citizens doing in the morning?
